Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. A leisurely breakfast in the MDR (on the days we don't have the butler bring it). Name that Tune in Martini's before dinner. Trivia. Watching the world go by from our balcony. A private tour with an interesting local in just about any port.
  2. Sny

    Table for 2

    Never a problem for us
  3. Our TA has always handled the request for distilled water for the CPAP.
  4. First of all, it has no affiliation with O. And, it is not the only service of this type. We have used both Luggage Forward and Luggage Free and prefer the later. Luggage Free provides better customer service, from our experience, and may be a bit less expensive. No, neither allows you to track in real time. We use Apple tags to track our suitcases.
  5. I think the poster has zeroed in on a basic problem. Situations may vary; but for those with limited mobility, the distances that one must walk in many ports of call to get from ship to terminal/buses/taxi is a challenge. Whether it's charter buses, shuttle buses or golf carts, lots of us could use the service. On each of the five O cruises we have taken, I have skipped one or more port of call because I didn't want to face the challenge of the long, painful walk. I don't use a cane or a walker in the "real world;" so, looking at me, you wouldn't think "mobility issue." But, I have enough metal in my back, hips, legs and ankles to make me bionic. As many others have noted, Oceania's demographic is changing. We are aging and the company would do well to adapt to our needs.
  6. Gather all your documentation together before you file and be ready to jump through a few hoops before you get your payment, Persevere!!!
  7. Sirena feels more intimate, and for those with mobility challenges, the smaller ship is much easier to navigate. They are both lovely. I agree that the itinerary should be the key factor in your decision
  8. Have used Luggage Free twice and Luggage Forward once. Both customer service and costs were better with Luggage Free. Will definitely use them again.
  9. Bruges. Take a taxi from the port and have the driver pick you up for return at a set time. Most drivers will not have you pay until they return you to the port. There are bus and horse drawn carriage rides for tours (also canal tours; but you have to walk a bit to them). There are plenty of restaurants on the square, with outdoor seating. So. when you are too tired to walk more, take a seat and order refreshments (highly recommend Belgian beer and mussels).
  10. We did a Tours by Locals full day in Barbados with Deborah Grant. If you are interested in history and a full island tour, she is very knowledgeable. She is a big proponent of reparations, which is a very hot topic in Barbados right now.
  11. Check Tours by Locals. We've had nothing but good experiences with them. Excellent communications.
  12. Last September, we did a small group tour with Tours by Locals with Graham O. Could not say enough good things about Graham. He customized our tour to what the four of us requested. We saw so much in one day!!!! Excellent shore excursion.
  13. La Reserve meals will not disappoint. You will probably meet some nice people there. Do participate in the daily Trivia game. It's a wonderful way to make new friends and laugh a lot. Check Currents to determine when and where various musicians are playing - String quartet, pianist... Don't feel obligated to get off the ship at each port, or to take formal shore excursions. This is your vacation - you are allowed to go against the flow. Get to know your butler and use his services. If you have any questions, ask him.
  14. We had bridge instruction and sanctioned duplicate games on our Sirena TA this year.
  15. We were just in a PH on starboard, aft, near elevators. A little noise from setting up chairs in Waves in the a.m. Not really enough to give a thought to.
