Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Getting called up on stage makes it fun. I got called up on stage on a Carnival cruise. I was just sitting down trying to figure out how you played as an audience member and saw my name up on the screen. Could have walked away with $400 but pushed my luck one time to many and ended up with less than $200. I don't remember the exact amounts now. I still had a lot of fun,
  2. Thanks for the recent report. We will try our best to hang out on Disney as long as possible to time our arrival for 10am.
  3. I guess I might be safest to just hang out at the Disney terminal and not call an Uber until I think Celebrity will allow me to enter the terminal.
  4. Do you think this is something the Retreat team could answer with authority or something too far removed from the corporate office for the answer to be reliable?
  5. My family and I are doing a side by side out of Ft Lauderdale in June. First on the Disney Magic and then on the Celebrity Beyond. I don’t imagine we will be allowed to remain on the Disney ship long and will probably be off around 9am. It does not look like it is walkable from Disney to Celebrity so some time will be taken by getting an Uber or two to get the four of us and our stuff. Realistically we might be at the Celebrity terminal at 9:30-10:00am. If it matters we are sailing in a sky suite and all have Retreat access. Will they be ready to let us in the terminal that early? I know they will be disembarking their own ship full of people.
  6. The walls for sure. Didn’t try to stick anything to the door.
  7. Why not? If I am the only one that works in my household, should my wife not get credit for sailings we take together? What about when I take my 18+ old kids on a cruise, I am still the one paying. What is magically different about me paying when they are 18+ and me paying when they are younger?
  8. I have a resolution. While I never heard back from any of the emails sent to the executive team email, I did work with The Retreat Concierge team who spoke with the executive team. In the end Celebrity offered to split the different and pay for one of the passengers in the cabin if I would pay for the other. I agreed. I don't think the website behavior is intentional but I do think it is very misleading and should be fixed. As a result I think it is fair to have split the difference. I hope the executive team does also get the website fixed.
  9. I’m not in the most likely offender group, yet. When I am that old I expect the world to revolve around me. I will do as I please because I am close to death anyway.
  10. I lump the kids 0-12 in with the parents age ranking. It’s not reasonable to expect a 5 year old to buy their own headphones. My guess is the parents you mentioned are in the 30-54 range based on the age of the kid and the fact that people are getting married and having kids later in life.
  11. Apparently there are inconsiderate people of all ages, but that is not the 5 year olds fault. In my experience, and this is just my experience, I find it much more likely that someone 55+ will be using a speakerphone or playing audio over the phone speaker than someone 13-30. The 13-30 group will have headphones of some type. The 31-54 group is a crapshoot as some will have headphones and some will not. My ranking of public sound abusers in order of most likely to be annoying to least likely to be annoying. 1. People 55+ and older 2. People 31-54 3. People 13-30
  12. My in laws, I guess younger older, live with my family so I spend a lot of time around them. When they are playing videos or talking on their phone, through their hearing aids, I can clearly hear what is playing from as far away as 10-15 feet. It is something people with bluetooth hearing aids need to know. The other side of the conversation is not as private as they might think. And neither is the sound from whatever they are playing on their phone. Edited to add: I can't say that I have found the same for headphones. I don't remember ever sitting next to someone using headphones and hearing quite as clearly what is playing as I do with the hearing aids my in laws both have.
  13. It find it much more likely to encounter an older generation person using a speakerphone or playing videos or music in public without headphones. Younger generations have headphones and use them.
