  1. Hi, very informative information. Just wondering do you lose your seat selection you have on your flight if you sign up for Port Valet? Brenda
  2. It was sad to see so many who appeared to be homeless. I wonder if the amount there and not at airports is due to less security or probably more due to the locations. Train stations are usually more easily accessible than airports Donโ€™t get me wrong if I needed to do it again I wouldnโ€™t hesitate ๐Ÿ˜. Nothing so negative occurred which would make me say heck no. oh has for the washroom. I had to take the luggage into the stall with me, I didnโ€™t feel it safe to leave it outside the stall. So a large suitcase inside the small stall. Again not a major negative. Iโ€™d have to say an inconvenience.
  3. So I returned Sunday and just wanted to give a viewpoint of using Amtrak from CT to Cape Liberty. It served the purpose I needed it for but honestly I would prefer driving myself. It was just myself. The train cost round trip was less than $100 which for me was good. The trains, both directions, were packed full so finding a seat was difficult, nobody likes to share these days. ๐Ÿ™‚. Then lugging around a packed suitcase was no fun at all. It was cumbersome just to use restrooms. Then while in Penn Station, Newark I was asked multiple times to buy food for people who were obviously hungry and needed it. I did for one lady but after that I had to say I couldn't. I'm not sure what it was she ordered (McDonalds breakfast) but it was $19.22....LOL. I didn't care but it was that multiple other people kept asking. It just made me feel very uncomfortable. I stayed at the Doubletree which is attached to Penn Station. (Used my CC points for it) Room was nice and clean. No issues except the floor you walk in is not the checkin floor and I had to use the escalator with said suitcase. Not a big deal, but I learned I am not very good maneuvering with a packed suitcase. I took Uber to and from the port. It cost $31.44. I checked with the taxi service when disembarking and they wanted $75.00. I said thank you and ordered the Uber. It was only my second time using Uber and it was a good experience both directions. So all and all using Amtrak is definitely doable but for me the hassle with luggage and the extra time vs just driving to the port and paying to park just isn't worth it. Hopefully by my next cruise I will have gotten another car. Thanks everyone for the advice
  4. Sorry I thought I replied. This was the reply "The comedian is Dan Wilson and the Tribute Band is Rookie"
  5. Thank you this information. I forgot about the line of cars to get into terminal. I used my credit card points and got a room at the hotel someone mentioned on here that is attached to Penn station, or within easy walking distance. Then I will Uber to the port. Probably go early just because I will be too impatient in the car to get in...LOL
  6. Len i totally agree with you. I LOVE deck 5 on the older ships. Shade, not crowded, my go too spot ๐Ÿ˜ I am not a fan of the newer ships at all. Been on Anthem and Oasis. I love the Explorer and Freedom size. Booked Liberty in October. the one thing about Anthem I do love is the solo balconies. Well that is before they increased the rate of them. ๐Ÿ˜
  7. I emailed guest services and asked. They replied. My cruise is April 16. Iโ€™d recommend emailing them. Reply was 2 days
  8. Granite543, hi. Thank you for your review. Was there a tribute band called Rookie and/or comedian Dan Wilson. I am going in April and those two are scheduled to be on when I go. Just wondering if you know of them? Thanks Brenda
  9. I purchased this month so guess it wasnt far enough in advance. But I'm cool with it because I have no car at the moment and knowing I can get to the ship is all that matters to me. ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. Thanks for the replies. I should have clarified. It is $98 round trip. The whole not not having my car is a big mess so in all honesty I would pay $98 each way to get there. ๐Ÿ˜ Taking MetroNorth is an option. I would rather not have to transfer from Grand Central.
  11. Thank you Elsi3939. I am not a flyer. I enjoy taking a train to DC a few times. It isnt very expensive from my home town to Newark Penn station is $98. Less stress for me. I think I am going to go that route. Who knows maybe I will want to take it all the time instead of driving. All I can do it try right.
  12. I am coming from CT. I take the train to DC and enjoy it. Taking an UBER is something I have never done so I'll have to have my niece show me how to do it before I leave. Thanks for the information
  13. I am trying to decide if taking Amtrak to Newark Penn station and then an UBER to the port on the day of my cruise in April is crazy has some people say about flying in day of. Any ideas or other suggestions? Unfortunately I will not have a car available, I usually just drive myself.
