  1. ....and back to EWR? Uber/Lyft readily available after the cruise?
  2. Yes, we just got off last week and Staff Captain said dry dock would start in April.
  3. That is very interesting. I was not aware of the big shots onboard but did run into a couple higher ups. On an elevator was the Chief Corporate Engineer, sorry forgot his name, who is married to Captain Kate. Hope this is not why things when so well. We found the ship to be in good condition. Carpet in the hallways and cabin were fine. There was a couple small spots of rust on the balcony but the railing was smooth and varnished.
  4. Got back Saturday from above. For background we are Pinnacle on Royal but switched mostly to X in 2018 and have since completed 16 cruises. Floating amusement parks are not what we are looking for and apparently no longer the target demographic for Royal. Celebrity has been a good change for us but with all the recent comments I wasn't sure what to expect. This was our first trip in a standard veranda. We have been in Concierge, Aqua and different suites. Equinox did not seem to be full but I never did get a passenger count. This cruise did have by far the largest number of kids I have ever seem on a Celebrity ship. We ate in OVC for breakfast, lunch, a couple dinners and MDR for the other dinners. I saw no cutbacks in service and was pleased with the food. First night in MDR still had prime rib. Other nights I had Steak Diane and Steak & Chips. The steaks were not Aqua or Luminae filets but still fine. I did notice that the potatoes my wife had in the MDR did appear to have been from an ice cream scope but they were still real mashed potatoes and tasty. OVC had a stir fry station, pasta station, and carved meat each night. Food was always hot and service fast. We have 6 more cruises booked with X and I am looking forward to them. The Staff Captain did comment that Equinox will be going in for a dry dock next April. I thought the ship looked in good condition. Any specific questions please ask.
  5. Reading this with interest. We are also experienced cruises, Pinnacle with RCI and E+ on Celebrity however have become unhappy with the recent changes. I have now booked 2 cruises on HAL, see my signature, and hope we have found a new home. The reviews I have read indicate people seem happy. Looking forward to a new float but have to wait until 2025.
  6. I was able to. As noted by others this is a mess. I made a reservation the first day the AARP offer came out. At that time the reply said to wait 2 business days before making the cruise reservation. I had my TA wait 2 days before making the reservation. The OBC never appeared. I cancelled that and I applied again. This time the reply said wait at least 3 days to make a cruise reservation. TA waited but OBC still didn't appear. She called Thursday and had to escalate to Resolution Dept. Today the OBC appeared. This is a HIA 2025 Alaska cruise.
  7. Hello, we are contemplating a HAL cruise for the first time.As noted in my signature we are not new to cruising. I am curious how often trivia is played. Thanks for your comments so far, it is filling in some questions I had.
  8. We ate in Blu tonight. My wife asked for and ordered from the MDR menu. A side note....I have always ordered the filet the first night, one of the best steaks in any restaurant. They no longer have that on the Blu menu. I asked if the still had the small filet on the kids menu and they do. Was as good as ever. It was packed with tables pushed together even at 5:30.
  9. Will let you know, hope they haven't changed that. On a side note...have you enjoyed the change to X? We are also Pin's but decided to make the switch a few years ago. Just did a quickie on SR, really like the Radiance class. Freedom class and up is just to big.
  10. We are on starting the 4th. We have done RF only in Aqua because it has cabins that aren't under the pool deck. With the additional deck the Aqua cabins are mostly on deck 11. We eat early and have never experienced any crowding issues. Any thing in particular you want me to check out?
