Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No. We have sailed with Celebrity for years. (Double Zenith level). We have never had to wait in line for a show. Just go in a take a seat. But, for some shows, the seats fill up fast. I suggest you show up a few minutes (10 to 15) before the scheduled start time. -- Don
  2. Glad to hear that Hertz is now booking one-way rentals from Seward to Anchorage ! The Hertz manager in Seward had told us that they were no longer accepting any bookings. But ... as you stated .. it's an expensive option ! -- Don
  3. We have bid successfully on upgrades from Royal Suite to Penthouse multiple times. Of course, most times a Penthouse do not become available for upgrades. We have won an upgrade bid to Penthouse twice. We have also received an free upgrade to Penthouse twice without bidding on an upgrade. -- Don
  4. The options for one-way travel from Seward to Anchorage are indeed limited at this time. The train only runs Seward --> Anchorage in the evening departing at 6:00 PM and does arrives in Anchorage around 10:30. This does not work for flights leaving on debarkation day. The Alaska Railroad canceled many routes during Covid and has not brough them back. Hertz no longer rents cars one-way from Seward to Anchorage. But, if you have a "Manager's Special one-way rental" already booked ... they will honor it. (we have spoke to Hertz multiple times). We have a "Manager's Special one-way rental" booked, but will most likely cancel it. The one-way cost for a minivan was $1,950 !! For the 2023 Alaska season Celebrity plans on chartering busses. It's still too early to book the one-way bus excursion with Celebrity. They haven't finalized their bus charter contracts for the Alaska 2023 season yet. Celebrity tours says that the charter bus contracts should be completed in March/April and should be available for guests to book bus transfers (online via excursion bookings) shortly thereafter. An additional option is to book a private transfer. There are a few tour Alaska operators that are now booking Seward to Anchorage trips. (although unfortunately quite a few have gone out of business). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For our group of 8, we booked a Private VIP tour from Seward to Anchorage via Celebrity Private Journeys. Celebrity Private Journeys was great to work with and booked the following for us: Celebrity Millenium - July 7, 2023 · 8:30 AM – Debark Ship; Claim luggage in Terminal · 9:00 AM – Depart Terminal; Begin Seward City Tour · 9:15 AM – Arrive Alaska Sealife Center (admission included), Explore Center on own · 10:30 AM – Depart Seward · 12:00 PM – Arrive Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (Admission included) · 1:00 PM – Depart Center · 1:30 PM – Arrive Hotel Alyeska; Ride Tram to top of Mt Alyeska, Lunch included at Bore Tide Deli at top of mountain · 3:00 PM – Depart Alyeska for Anchorage · 4:00 PM – Arrive Anchorage; Begin Anchorage City Tour; with a visit to Alaska Native Heritage Center · 6:00 PM – Drop Downtown Anchorage for dinner · 7:45 PM – Depart to Airport · 8:00 PM – Arrive Anchorage Airport; Tour Concluded 10:30 PM - American Airlines flight departs Anchorage Included in the VIP Tour was the following for 8 people: Admission to Sealife Center, Conservation Center, Tram up the mountain, lunch at Bore Tide Deli and Alaska Native Heritage Center. The total cost for this Seward to Anchorage tour for 8 people was around $2,600. -- Don
  5. Celebrity does have Vegetarian menus. You can ask for the daily Vegetarian menu from any restaurant. I've attached the sample Vegetarian menus for 14 day sailings. These are mostly correct. Although recently Celebrity has made a LOT of changes to the various menus and drastically cutback the Vegetarian/Vegan options on the Oceanview buffet. And ... many of the "Vegetarian" items on these menus are not Vegan. Up until January 2023 my recommendation would have been "speak to the Oceanview head chef". They have the best Vegan options and can make them available to you in the Main Dining Room, Blu, Luminae, etc. But, post "Oceanview's drastic cutbacks" ... I think your best bet is to speak with the Maitre'd for which ever restaurant you will normally have dinner. We have found the Luminae and Blu chefs to be mostly accommodating. And sometimes the chefs are excited to cook something different. Hope this helps ! -- Don
  6. Yes. Multiple times. The last onboard upgrade we had booked a Royal Suite. Bid on the Penthouse, but never got an upgrade. However, 2nd day onboard we were upgraded to Penthouse for the current cruise and B2B cruise. Hotel Director and Suite Manager came by to ask if we would like to upgrade. No charge. — Don
  7. Same for us ... the "New Celebrity experience" on Edge class ships is not for us. We sailed on the Edge in the Iconic Suite. The ship was beautiful, but the experience that Celebrity was pushing was disappointing. They have backed off on some of the more extreme and nutty experiences (such as people dressed as goofy animals in Eden), but the experience is still not to our liking. It is doubtful that we will ever book another cruise on an Edge class ship. Currently we have about a dozen cruises booked in Penthouse suites on Millenium and Solstice class ships. If Celebrity brings the Edge experiences to those ships ... then we will most definitely look for a new cruise line. My wife and I are double-Zenith and loyal to Celebrity and still enjoy the traditional Retreat experience. Hoping Celebrity does not abandon the traditional cruiser that they built their cruise line on !! -- Don
  8. I asked the Magic 8-ball. Rarely do I get an answer this definite. Hmm ... I guess it's official now ?
  9. A few years ago …. After a swim, I left my prescription sunglasses along with a book on a lounger in the Solarium and stepped about 20 feet to rinse off in the showers. When I came back a few minutes later … NO SUNGLASSES !!! Ship security looked for a few days. That area of the Solarium wasn’t covered by cameras. But, they had pictures of my sunglasses at deck one disembarkation and were checking anyone with similar sunglasses. Unfortunately, they were never found. The Michaels Club concierge, Captains Club host, Guest Relations Manager, and even the Hotel Director came by to apologize !!! Celebrity takes any crime aboard ship very seriously. But, I learned my lesson and keep a close watch on everything now. — Don
