Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Well I caught Covid on Insignia Le Havre to New York cruise. Luckily it was the day after Lisbon when we were going straight to New York and not stopping in Azores because of the two hurricanes. My wife was negative and was moved to another cabin. The ships staff gets a A+ with the way I was treated. The Infectious Disease Officer checked on me 2 times per day, 24 Hour Room Service including Grand Dining Room, and High Speed internet. I had very mild symptoms. Oceania took great care of us.
  2. The Fog of Cruising during Covid or Monkey Pox
  3. If you get covid and need medical help while onboard they will know. Not sure what type of cost is related to being in quarantine on the ship. Our cruise is Transatlantic so there is no sending you home.
  4. Our trip insurance covers that. I believe Oceania covers refund but within a certain window.
  5. Still very confused on O's policy... If fully vaxed and do not have a negative test within 72 hours of getting on Insignia in France do they cover your cost if you get Covid?? We also have trip insurance. Just do not want to go through the hassle of getting tested in Paris if we do not need to.
  6. Got this for our upcoming La Havre to New York cruise from Oceania... I guess getting a negative test within 72 Hours is good insurance. While testing is no longer required, as a general rule, Oceania Cruises strongly recommends you obtain a PCR test not more than 72 hours prior to embarkation. If a PCR test is not readily available, then we encourage guests to at a minimum take a laboratory administered COVID-19 antigen test not more than 72 hours prior to embarkation. Guests that fail to test prior to departure or cannot provide proof of a negative laboratory supplied test result and subsequently test positive for COVID- 19 upon embarkation will not be reimbursed for quarantine or return embarkation arrangements.
  7. In Hoonah we took the Jeep tour. Followed a lead Jeep in our own Jeep.
  8. đź‘Źđź‘Ź Great News..... Dear Valued Guests and Travel Advisors, We have an important update to share with you about revisions to our embarkation testing policy. Effective August 1, 2022, Oceania Cruises will no longer require guests to produce a negative covid test to embark their cruise, subject to local regulations. Please Note: Voyages embarking from Canada and Greece as well as those sailing to Bermuda, will still require a negative covid test at embarkation, until further notice. The relaxing of this policy is in line with the greater travel industry around the globe as society continues to return to a post-pandemic state of normalcy. Testing is not required to fly or stay in a hotel or dine at a restaurant, and now, as a general rule, guests will no longer be required to test to board one of our ships. With the advent of vaccinations and widely available therapeutics, travelers can and should travel with confidence and peace of mind. While this requirement is relaxed, Oceania Cruises continues to strongly urges all guests to test at their convenience prior to travel and intermittently during their travels. Of course, should the unlikely need arise, this policy may be revisited and revised as necessary, and we will endeavor to keep you informed of any changes. Warmest regards, Carlos E. Ortega Vice President, Guest Services
  9. On a transatlantic in August and out of the blue the Mt. Saint Michele excursions were cancelled for operational issues. Any idea what the real story is??
  10. We really enjoyed the trip over all: food good and great service good call by the Captain to skip Sitka; a beautiful day on the inside passage was a great unexpected joy attentive room stewards Jeep ride at Hoonah was enjoyable Since we had been to Ketchikan before, we didn’t miss the downtown area (crowded on what started as a rainy day) when docked at Ward Cove. We had the BEST excursion at George Inlet with a boat ride and crab feast. It was a little more of a bus ride, but TOTALLY worth it! Only negative was the late arrival due to Oceania planned air ( and luckily plane was on time). We did not get to the dock till 5PM, missed lunch/snacks after a long day of travel. Thankful for no traffic catastrophes in LA on way to port, and for no flight delays, or it would have been disastrous!
  11. Can you still bring a total of 6 bottles per stateroom onboard after a port stop?
  12. Cordero’s by the Westin…good food, good view
