  1. We live nearby and absolutely love the area. My son lives in Tampa and it is not an easy trek from there to PC, so I don’t recommend going there. We are actually on the transatlantic sailing into PC on 12/3. There are some great restaurants nearby and I agree with recommendations to stay in CB.

  2. Thank you for expressing what many of us have thought…how tedious this constant complaining is about cookies and other ridiculous things. We went on a Celebrity cruise last January after reading boards filled complaints. We had a great cruise and expect to have the same for our upcoming cruises. For those who are so unhappy, cancel your cruises and go elsewhere to that perfect cruise you are seeking. Good luck!

    Ok…I will jump in ….

We had a cruise booked for departure 4/24. Equinox.. in a Celebrity Suite.

When I began to read all the posts, I became concerned. I read what JetBlue had to say with sincere sympathy.  Even though we have been vaccinated and boosted, and had COVID in January, we became concerned.
We agreed that, if one of us tested positive, even a false positive,  we could not deal with the consequences. After all, this is an expensive cruise and we expect to enjoy it.
We contacted our travel agent, who was very understanding. We have dealt  with 6 canceled cruises. Unfortunately, He is not making money on us. He contacted Celebrity and they assured him that we would get a balcony cabin, if available. These last words convinced us to cancel.
Why should we spend money with even a slight chance that we might be separated and be isolated in a small cabin and eating out of take out containers. No suite, no. shows, no dining, no sightseeing, no pool. Nothing but an isolated cabin.
We will resume cruising when we read that the cruise lines treat Covid as they would if a person has a cold or the flu. Stay in the cabin you pay for. This illness is usually mild and there’s no reason for the draconian methods cruise ships are doing to vaccinated passengers.
    Just my opinion!

We recently cruised in February and are due to do a N. Europe cruise at the end of May. I appreciate individual decisions to cancel or postpone, but I would note that not every case of COVID, even among those who are vaccinated and boosted are like a cold or the flu. A group from our church took an afternoon paddle boat cruise last week and 12 caught COVID. Of that, 1/3 are very sick, even though they were fully vaccinated. I feel very positive about the steps that Celebrity has made to be as safe as possible. Of course I don’t want to spend time in quarantine, but I know that this is a risk that I have chosen to take.

  4. We sail on May 30, but arrive on the 28th. I was thinking of making an appointment at the airport as I hear some say that finding a test can be challenging in UK. I will be interested in what you all experience. Alternatively, we could order the binax ones through celebrity and bring them with us, I guess.

That's what we're going to do. Talked to them again yesterday and they said (almost unbelievably).."we had a few in but won't be getting anymore"  😳  I mean...how crazy is this for an assisted living facility?  It gets better...they just hired a new LPN back in August but she already left. So I wound up talking to a new "medical director" - see how long she lasts. The place is nice enough - small and usually very quiet - and my Mom has been there now for 5 years, but something just doesn't work since, employee-wise, it's like a revolving door. I can't keep up with the staff changes. At this point would hate to move her somewhere else since she has very significant memory issues and gets disoriented enough as is without making major changes to her routine and location. Even crazier is that the families were not even notified that they won't be getting boosters. It was taken over by a large outfit a few years ago and that's when things started to slip downhill in  many ways. Prior to that it was just a small independently run facility and things were better. I must say, though, that they've done amazingly well throughout the entire pandemic.

My Mom lives on the Independent side of a dual independent/assisted living facility and they have done a great job of getting vaccinations and boosters. They have been among the first to get them at the facility. They test everyone each week. My only complaint is that they don’t require masks for residents anymore. But otherwise they have done really well!  Good luck with your Mom and keep up the pressure.
