  1. This is an interesting topic. 40+ cruises and we get the earliest check in time available (usually always 11AM) and invariably, the ship has MANY, MANY passengers already on board. On our last sailing on Mariner, we stood forever in line for the 11AM check in. People were already in line talking about their 2PM check in.....not just a few but many having late check ins. They were bragging about it while some elderly passengers were at a point of passing out due to standing in the long lines (terminal 5, which I HATE). We have always gotten to the cruise port at the appropriate time but wondering about getting there prior to our 11AM time.....say....10:30. Obviously, no one is turned away for not getting there at the appropriate time. So much for being turned out of line and told to wait.
  2. I believe that it's quieter at night probably due to other things going on, on the ship, Some nights worse than others, some almost unnoticeable.
  3. Would like to know also. Mine is requiring that I sign in (haven't had to do that before) and the password I have, doesn't work. Is it still down OR I need to create a new password!!! Cruise isn't until 3/25 so I have some time.
  4. Agree, but I've never understood WHY Royal doesn't just require the Muster to be completed PRIOR to getting into the terminal, just like your online check-in. Another cruise line (don't recall which one) does this. Simple. Once completed you get in line, Muster done.
  5. OMG....we're on Jewel next month. I have heard that the new menu was not good....fleetwide and we were considering just eating in Windjammer, but sounds like it isn't much better. No chips at the Park Solarium until after 9pm????? WTH!!! No pizza until after 9pm????? We're Diamond plus also and due to our age not many more cruises in store for us. Hate to see this happening.
  6. We prefer staterooms that overlook the Park Cafe and on a deck LOWER than 10th. We happened to be on deck 10, above the Cafe, one time and the noise from the pool, or anything that was going on, was really bad. Needless to say, we didn't sit out much at all.
  7. Thanks so much for the info. In all of the cruises that I've been on, I was never told that I could make calls (wifi calls) from my phone until then. Kinda freaked me out. I halfway expected to have a tremendous charge on my phone bill when I got home. I had just been told (numerous times) very different info, concerning different things, from RCCL "IT" people so I was a bit skeptical. I appreciate your info.
  8. As mentioned, any device. You just log off one and log right onto the other. I always go between my iPad and iPhone. While I haven't tried it, I'm assuming anyone can also use your password to get into their device BUT you can't be on yours when they do. Only one person, on one device, using your password at a time. On our last cruise, I was told that I could make phone calls!!!!! I was shocked. NEVER had I been told that I could do that. I questioned her time and time again, was she ABSOLUTELY certain, and she assured me that I would not get any charges from AT&T.......and I didn't. Most likely I will be told something different on our cruise next month.
  9. I have had a similar problem. Earlier this morning I tried checking my Royal App and couldn't get in with my password nor would it let me CHANGE my password. I tried checking into the RCCL website, same problem. We have a 3/25 sailing and got the notification about 30 minutes to check in. I must admit that I double checked our cruise date!!!!
  10. Yes, just got it about 20 minutes ago. Not only that....I can't log in to my Royal app OR the RCCL website and it won't let me change my password.
  11. Thanks so much, Sherri. We'll be going in March as well.....3/25. Appreciate your feedback.
  12. We have recently booked an 8 night Jewel cruise to celebrate our 50th anniversary. It just happened to be the only ship over our anniversary that would get us home by Easter. We have been on big ships as well as a number of smaller ones but this is a first on Jewel. Has anyone sailed on her recently that can tell us how things are on board?
  13. My son lost his passport and he basically went through the new passport procedure. He had it expedited and still it took almost a month.
  14. Yes, I have the app downloaded and keep checking every day or so...even though we're still more than 45 days out. One cruise allowed me to complete my online checking at approximately 60 days out...SHOCKING. Yes, I usually always skip the first day of internet. Thanks for your response!
  15. I have been trying to determine whether to get my internet (1 iPhone) prior to my cruise of wait till I get on board. Problem is that I am Diamond Plus and get, I think, two free days. If I find a deal and book it ahead of the cruise, will I be given the two free days? I was told once to not do it that you then have to go to Guest Services on board to get it resolved. Does anyone know for sure? Second question, it's too soon for our March 25th check in so I have no idea what my options are for times. Most often, the earliest I've ever seen is 11AM. If I get there earlier (10/10:30), will I be allowed to check in even if I choose 11AM. I know you can't board that early but can I check in and wait? We are always told NOT to get there early but on my last Mariner cruise out of Terminal 5, there was a tremendous wait line (outside the terminal, in the elements) and MANY people were bragging about their check in wasn't until 2pm. We got there exactly at our check in time. No one, anywhere, asked about times. There were even some people unable to stand so long. I just don't understand.....you either have the rules or not. If you don't enforce them, I guess you can go whenever you want.
  16. I realize that there have been a lot of changes that have taken places since the pandemic but it appears that priority boarding for upper tiers (Diamond Plus) are a thing of the past. On our last August cruise, it took about 2 hours to get on board. The terminal that RCCL is using at Port Canaveral, that I believe is a Carnival terminal, is HORRIBLE. You are barely out of the elements. In the event of rain (which happens frequently in Florida)....too bad. Okay, back to my original question....since becoming Diamond Plus, about 4-5 years ago, we have never been given the option of priority boarding (which used to be a perk). Also, more importantly, what has happened to times to arrive for check-in? On this latest cruise, we had people that were to check in THREE HOURS later, in line ahead of us, braggin about it. Absolutely no one asked for times. Up until August, there were specific lines to get in based on check in time. Apparently no more. Just curious.
  17. I have relatives on Liberty, doing a B2B (this week and next). Any discussion about the upcoming storm?Invest 98L
  18. Embarkation at terminal 5 was the worst we have ever experienced after 40 cruises. NO ONE checked boarding times. People were all in one line and joyfully expressing being able to board an hour and a half early. We have a March cruise which will likely be at terminal 5. If so, we will cancel. Over an hour standing and waiting while late boarders go ahead of us is a no go. Come on Royal, our February cruise had different time lines as did our Augusr 2021 Celebrity cruise. So much for not arriving early!!! I was told that one elderly man almost passed out and the Royal employee pretty much said “not my job”. The couple found a nurse who got help.
  19. If a husband/wife tests positive for covid but the other doesn’t, can they quarantine together?
  20. We will be boarding Mariner on Sunday and it looks as if Florida is going to be covered in rain (all subject to change, of course). Assuming it does rain, does this terminal have a covered area to get off your shuttle and/or stand in line? This is the first time at this terminal for us.
  21. I don't know when there has been any improvement in technology that didn't come with a price increase.....at least initially.
  22. My husband and I are Diamond Plus and based on our ages, I seriously doubt we’ll make Pinnacle. There is so little difference between the two and WiFi would be my only interest. For the life of me, I don’t understand WHY internet is so expensive…and going up almost yearly. Some ships have FREE internet. I suppose it’s just a money maker for RCCL. More and more people work from ships and need the coverage….I just think it should be more affordable for a product that isn’t always that fast. Once Starlink goes on every ship, we won’t be able to afford it!

  24. I appreciate this information. Our Bermuda cruise is 9/11 and I just heard about this authorization. The $40 per person really irks me though!!!
