  1. Thank you for sharing. You never used the shower? IMO the shower is one of the best things about the ships. Aaaaah.
  2. Strange. We were on HMC from the Rotterdam that same day. We weren't there right away, but when we got there, we chose the first entry onto the beach and we had our pick of chairs. Perhaps people had returned to the ships when it started to rain? When we had lunch, we found a pavillion with oodles of seats, again, not the closest to the BBQ, but close enough. The biggest issue I had was the tendering. It would have been sooooo much faster had the ship used its own tenders along with the boats from HMC.
  3. Just catching up on the thread now that we're home from our Caribbean cruise. Jaqui, I'm so sorry that your trip ended the way it did. You are a strong woman, who is handling every obstacle that has come your way. I'm glad that you are home (and can have a good cry, if you need one) before you take on the next thing that needs to be done. We have all appreciated your thread and the painful updates the last few pages. Take time to heal, and then plan the next cruise! Prayers and love sent from SW Ontario.
  4. Nope. I think that that is the default. I was on the Canadian site, getting Canadian prices for flights, but when I went to buy my seats, they were in US$, even though I double checked and made sure it was the Canadian page that I was on.
  5. @kazuI am truly enjoying your adventures. Thank you for taking us along. I love the pinnacle ships and will be on the Rotterdam in just over a week. Take care of that foot!
  6. I sent a video of the room to my grandson (4) who was enthralled with the thought of a bedroom on a ship. It finally arrived a week later. rofl
  7. Yes, it is making me question my Westjet credit card. I used to be able to go out of London, ON, connect in Toronto and go about my business. Now London flights are down to near zero. Time to start to look at other travel credit cards. I will miss the companion fare, and Premium Plus seating.
  8. Your room will be ready when you embark. The problem with trying embark with your suitcase on is that it will (likely) not fit through the scanner when you go through security. You will need to check it. You WILL be able to carry off during self-disembarkation.
  9. The night before, I just put the money on the table (or desk) where the crew member will be placing the tray.
  10. Wise idea, one that I will implement in the future. Thank you.
  11. As mentioned above, I have sent international money by going to the bank with the SWIFT code and banking information. There was a cost, but I don’t remember what it was.
  12. On the flip side, while we were away in the spring for a couple of weeks, I thought I’d cancelled my newspaper. Apparently, I hadn’t made that final online click. The newspaper delivery person noticed that they hadn’t been picked up (mailbox), and I got a message on the phone that said they cancelled further papers until I notified them. Great service!
  13. I agree with you for the most part. Luckily, we have a live in daughter, so our house continues to be lived in. πŸ™‚ DD said just last night, "Sometimes I feel like a burden" and I reassured her that, even though we sometimes call her the girl in the basement, it is with love, and she isn't the first one to come back home to live as full grown adults. Also, I didn't have to give one iota of a thought to my (senior) cat. I can up and leave for a month and she will be well cared for. Now I only hope the cat doesn't decided to cash in that ninth life while we are away. DD would be devastated.
  14. Popping in just to wave goodbye! πŸ‘‹πŸ» We're flying to Amsterdam tomorrow night. And then on to the Rotterdam on Sunday. We're feeling great, and with no stress of testing, we know that, as long as the plane gets us there, we are good to go. πŸ₯° Blessings and a happy October to everyone!
  15. That was exactly my response! 🀣
  16. My stress level just dropped significantly. We don't have to test when we get on the Rotterdam next week (next week? 😯) I've been able to update the Verifly and we will be bringing tests to use, if necessary, while on the cruise.
  17. You should buy a lottery ticket πŸ˜‰ Have a great trip!
  18. Mine took a few weeks. Definitely under a month, though. I need to add to my January Caribbean cruise now.
  19. My Verifly is still showing that I need a test. 😞 Oct 2 on the Rotterdam.
  20. I had to go and look it up. 🌟First HAL cruise Zuiderdam 2014 - 60yo 🌟🌟Third HAL cruise Koningsdam 2018 - 64yo 🌟🌟🌟Fifth HAL cruise Zuiderdam 2020 - 66yo I have a long way to get to 🌟🌟🌟🌟 but I have the cruises booked to get there. LOL
  21. Good morning. It's a coolish morning here in SW Ontario, but bright and sunny, with a high of 26ΒΊC promised. National Get Ready Day! Well, that does it. Time to get the clothes on the bed and into the suitcases for our vacation next week. Many thanks for the thread and all who contribute to it. Prayers and hugs for those that need it, even if they don't think they do, and cheers πŸ₯‚ to all the celebrations. Blessings to all. Have a wonderful day!
  22. So there is a wine steward back in the main dining rooms now? πŸ‘πŸ»
  23. Thanks for the thread and all the sharing that it stands for. When I married DH, our first Chinese dinner out with his family was for his mom's 70th birthday and this is their tradition. So funny! πŸ˜„ It's a coolish day today in SW Ontario. We haven't had any side effects from the booster so far, not even the really painful arm from the last booster. We have some of the frozen dumplings in the freezer, so I can pull them out for dinner. Prayers and best wishes for those that need them and those celebrating. Blessings to all. Have a wonderful day.
  24. Thanks to all who contribute to the Daily report. I haven't had a chocolate milkshake for a bit, but maybe I can convince DD to make one-spiked with peppermint schnapps, of course-tonight. Every day should be a day of encouragement, don't you think? Positive encouragement might help stop the negative divisiveness that is rampant today. We had chicken last night, so the leftovers will be added to the skillet pasta dish in the fridge for DH and I. DD will just have the pasta. @kazu what a lovely Celebration of Life that you had for José! I hope that it brought you joy and comfort to share with your family and friends. Happy 85th birthday to your mom @puppycanducruise! I loved the pictures of Bangkok, @StLouisCruisers Thank you. It's another perfect day here in SW Ontario. DH and I are going for our 4th booster today....the day that they finally announce the bi-valent one, but since we'll be cruising 🀞 when the dates open, we've opted to boost up now. We'll catch the next one once enough time has gone by. Prayers for those that need them, even if they don't know they do and Blessings to everyone. Have a wonderful day!
