  1. Thanks! That's really helpful. We all walk pretty quickly, so we'll take those time estimates. We're in port until 3pm. How much time do you think we should plan on spending in the museum? With a port arrival time of 7am, we're hoping to do something else in the morning, then lunch, then the museum.
  2. With the curfew they now have, I'd say that the hours the ice cream is closed are now the hours there shouldn't be any messes made. Let's face it, having the stations closed during the night isn't saving much in the way of ice cream stuff. It's not having a crew member servicing the machine for all those hours. I do wonder though... will the ice cream be available 24/7 in the family harbour lounge?
  3. Most self-destructive business practice I had in a restaurant: at an Italian restaurant I asked for extra marinara for a $30 dish. They brought a little cup of it that they usually use to serve butter. We laughed at how stingy it was, but I didn't ask for more as it took so long for them to serve us that. When I got the check, I discovered they charged me $1.50 for the extra sauce. I agree: not serving mains only shows it's more about cutting cost than cutting waste. They really should be honest about it, though. Given the economics of the world, most people would understand that prices have to go up.
  4. I don't mind the all you can eat restaurants charging extra for uneaten food. The portion sizes were pretty small, and you can order 1 serving at a time, as many orders as you would like. It works well, actually. We tried fighting the charge for the rice we didn't order, and they pointed to the menu where it states "no modifications" It was only a $2 charge.
  5. I think the reason they don't like to serve main dish only is they want you to fill up on sides. Sides are generally cheaper. We went to an all you can eat Japanese restaurant where you order as much as you like from a menu, but they charge extra for unfinished dishes to avoid waste. Towards the end we ordered a shrimp hibachi no rice, as we knew it wouldn't be eaten, and that is how they served it. We got the bill, and they charged us for the uneaten rice we didn't get.
  6. On our Disney cruise, pirate night and dress up night had lines for pictures much longer than other nights. And, I'm sure disney sold much more pictures from these special nights than the other. I agree pictures should be digital instead of printed. And decreasing food waste without affecting the cruise experience should be the goal.
  7. One way to decrease waste and make everyone happy: Make lobster an appetizer option as well, and limit to 1 lobster app per person. Or maybe 2 lobsters total per person total. This would probably have less waste than people ordering two full entrees in order to get a lobster and a full size protein
  8. Disney has elegant nights. The characters get all decked out in their formal wear and there are long lines for pictures.
  9. I read somewhere... don't remember where... Nov 8. I have no clue if this was reliable info.
  10. We'd like to visit the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue and Jewish Cultural Historical Museum. We were thinking of doing a snorkeling tour in the morning, and then upon return to the cruise port, walk over to the museum. How much time would we need to walk each way, and how much time should we plan to spend there? We're on the Carnival Horizon (I think there are two piers there, but not sure which we'll be docked at). Thanks!
  11. Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast is now available to book in advance under specialty dining. It'll say "sold out" for all days except the day they actually have it. $10 adults, $8 children.
  12. I guess they might want to keep the "as low as $50" marketing for FTTF. If they keep it at $90 for 7 days I think I'll get it for our Glory cruise.
  13. I'm assuming that the appetizer size order of pasta doesn't count towards the two. If so, I'm guessing this will be become a lot more popular (though not with me, I actually don't like pasta that much). The only time I ever ordered 3 entrees was lobster night. Two lobsters and something else (sometimes steak, though not always, depended on my mood... and how good the dessert menu looked). I think they might have gotten $5 more from me.
  14. How do guests who need special assistance fit in? Are they given any priority, or do they just board with assigned boarding number?
  15. $50 was the original price when it first started, for all cruises. Then they started charging more for longer voyages. I remember I purchased for $50 like a day or two before it went up to $70 for our 5 day cruise. 3-4 day cruises might have still been $50, at first. However, the generic FTTF page price listing became "starting at $50." It stayed this way, even when there were no more cruises with a $50 FTTF. So, it probably just hasn't been updated since then, but I don't expect any cruises to actually have a $50 FTTF.
  16. We use bottled water for sone of the excursions, like the hike through the jungle of st. Kitts. As we hike, and start to tire out, the full bottles in our hiking msg is replaced with empty bottles. But for the ship we use tap At local store, gallon of Distilled water went from $0.88 to $2.50 in the last few months.
  17. This is very helpful! We will try for the family suite. Can't wait for the 2024 itineraries to come out.
  18. In my cruise menu, it's listed as an option, along with excursions, fly2fun, fun shops, etc., but when I click on it, it says 0 items available.
  19. We're a family of 5, and hoping to book when dates are released, so we're doing a lot of research fast! Based on 2023 itineraries, we're looking at a Sapphire Princess cruisetour. I see on the deck plans that the ship has two family suites for 6, but I can't find a sailing that has these cabins available. I'm guessing they go fast. How hard is it to book these cabins? And, how much more would it be to be in one of these (or would it be cheaper?), as opposed to us being split up into 2 cabins?
  20. Yes.... except the markup is so much on drinks that in the price range we are talking about, higher revenue is a suitable surrogate endpoint for profit. The only caveat is they need to keep the price of cheers above the level where, on average, customers pay more for cheers than they would if they had to pay out of pocket for drinks.
  21. I wonder if this means FTTF will be returning soon, as well. FTTF is still listed as a category for pre-cruise spending, so one would think they plan on bringing back this pure profit item.
  22. If lowering price increases sales of cheers resulting in more revenue.... then yes
