  1. Has anyone ever done this? Or would you suggest two bags. One for land and one for sea. I've always done one land and one for sea but was wondering if I could do one only or if it would be a hassle.
  2. Thank you! I'm pretty flexible with dining times. But still like the idea of walking up an sitting with other people every night. And I don't mind waiting for a few minutes.
  3. My husband passed in 2012. Did my first solo cruise in 2015. Loved it! The freedom to do what I wanted to on the ship and on land was awesome! I did choose to join other people at dinner. I did walk up every night. And then and in cruises since then I've met some wonderful people. Don't' be afraid to go. There will be times you feel lonely, but immerse yourself in the activities onboard and enjoy!
  4. Um, I'm still unclear on walk up to the dining rooms. Can you still just walk up and get a table? I travel solo and normally eat at 5 so I can go join in the evening time activities after. Will I need to make a reservation for 5? I mean, if I meet people and we want to meet another evening for dinner it may be later than 5. Could we still just walk up and get a table? I don't mind waiting a little bit. All this talk of reservations is confusing me as I have never made a reservation for MDR before. But having said that, I haven't cruised since 2019.
  5. I'm looking into doing the connosieur tour for Alaska. I've done the Denali Explorer tour twice. But wanted to try the connosieur. So in your opinion it's worth it?
  6. In my past cruises there was a reservation only MDR and a walk up MDR. I've never waited more than a couple of minutes for a table in walk up MDR. I'm on a cruise. Tonight I may want to eat early. Tomorow night I may be tired from my excursion and go to my room and crash and not make it to MDR at my usual early time. There needs to be a balance between reservations and walkups I agree. And I think the reservation dining room and a separate walk up sounds great.
  7. Good to know! As a solo cruiser I normally like to eat around 5 and then join in the evening activities. I never used to wait for a table. Was hoping now I wouldn't have to either.
  8. Ooh, no, not every day! Sugar overload!
  9. I'm sorry Princess, but these look like kids desserts to me. Its a nope. I'll find my sweets elsewhere on the ship.
  10. Well, looks like I won't be getting the premium desserts as I am lactose intolerant and have an intolerance to chocolate also. I know! My life is horrible! LOL! However, I know I will find plenty to eat on the ship! Thank you all for answering! Happy Cruising!
  11. I was wondering what the "premium" desserts? That will help us decide if it's worth it. I've been hearing its ice cream. To me, that's not premium. Anyone that can tell me what they really include?
  12. Webb Pierce, I know I'm late to the party and I hope you had a great cruise. I did my very first ever cruise solo to Alaska in 2015. Land/cruise tour. Had a blast and made some great friends I'm still in touch with today. Hope you had a wonderful time on your trip! Never be afraid to travel alone! BTW, I'm from West Monroe, Louisiana where the singer Webb Pierce grew up about three miles from where I did. Happy Sailing!
  13. To anyone trying to decide to cruise solo or not, go for it! I did my first solo cruise three years after my husband died. My first cruise ever! I did land/cruise Tour of Alaska. Love it! I have since done New England/Canada and another Land/cruise tour of Alaska. Made good friends and had a blast all three times. I am currently looking at cruises for next year. Solo is freedom to do as you wish and want to. I always ate in MDR sitting with others and met some really nice people. I saw the shows, and anything that I, key word I, wanted to do. I say go! If your attitude is you will have fun, you will!
  14. My favorite thing about dining in the MDR was going whenever I wanted to and being seated at a table with people I had yet to meet. Made lots of new friends that way.
