  1. Hi, i have only sailed on the epic in a studio twice, Parents in a mini suite. For our family cruise we are considering booking the Haven forward facing penthouse 3 adults. We have sailed the Epic twice in Europe so we think the large ship will suit us as we had such a good time.

We can avail of the Freestyle Choice offer that has only started for us here in Europe.

    Our package includes:

    2 * UBP

    1* Soda Package

    3* Dining plans

    300 dollars OBC

Its costing us 4700 Euro, is this good Value for a Haven Suite.

I know that we are not located within the Haven, will this differ the level of service we receive.

Any tips with regards to room location, we have a hold on 9706 but i think we will go higher for views , any opinions. I was thinking deck 11 kinda midway point for using stairs if necessary.

Butler and Concierge, what roles have these and do we need to use them.

Weather wise, we are booking the 19th September is this going to be good or bad, we are coming from Ireland so anything will be sufficient as long as there is sun.

Sorry for the extremely long post

I had a Haven Spa Suite last year, which is also outside of the Haven, and had no complaint at all with the service I received. It was wonderful.

The butler will bring a snack to your cabin each afternoon, will service your Lavazza coffee machine and generally provide anything in room that you need or want. If you would like to have breakfast or dinner in your room, your butler will bring it and set it up for you. The concierge can make reservations for restaurants, shows, excursions and the spa. If you go to the Illusionarium, the concierge will escort you down before other guests are allowed to enter. Also, for disembarkment, they will escort you down to leave the ship bypassing all the lines. You do not have to use either the butler or concierge services, but they certainly add a lot to the experience. And believe me, irl I am so not a butler type person. They just make the whole experience so stress free.

For location, I think deck 11 sounds good. I'm sure both are nice suites, but deck 11 will make the trek to the Haven quicker.

  2. I wanted to clarify that NCL has 3 categories of spa access cabins and only the Haven Spa Suite has access to the Haven Restaurant and the Haven Courtyard area. The Spa Mini-suites and Spa Balcony cabins do not have Haven access, although they do have thermal spa privileges. There has been some confusion about that during this current promotion.

  3. I was in a Haven Spa Suite on the Getaway and the two ships are very similar. You would get access to the spa thermal suite (heavenly) and the Haven Courtyard area. You also would have access to the Haven restaurant for meals at no additional charge. If you book during the current promotion you will get the unlimited beverage pkg, the unlimited dining pkg (includes most specialty restaurants) and some on board credit.

If you decide to book, enjoy! Be warned, you will be spoiled. :)

  4. I am considering moving to suite 16130 on the Getaway due to the longer balcony. I wonder if anyone who has sailed in this cabin could give me some feedback about possible noise issues. This is the first cabin on the hallway, and there is both the key card access door and the door to Haven cabin hallway in close proximity. Did anyone experience noise issues due to these doors? Either from the doors slamming or from people talking as they walk by? Also, above is the public sun deck area, any noise from this area?

Thanks for any input you can give.

  5. Thank you

    One other question.....

We didn't buy our Dining Plan yet becasue the free promotion came out after we paid in full :(

If we book the Illusion now, they will charge me.

**When and if I buy the Dining plan, will they reimburse me as the Illusion on the first night is free?????????

I don't know the answer to this, but I haven't seen anyone talk about getting reimbursed on here. I think you could go ahead & purchase the UDP now and then make your reservation. Or you could wait until you get on board and purchase your UDP and make your reservation through the concierge.

  6. Were you on the Getaway? Ruth was our concierge on the Breakaway in April. Wasn't fond of hr at first but then realized she was very nice once you broke down her walls. I'm actually hoping she will be on the Getaway when I sail n October.

Yes, I was on the Getaway last October and Ruth was the concierge. I thought she hit just the right note as concierge. She was always ready to help when needed and always had a pleasant word as I came by the concierge desk going into the Haven. She was a bit reserved, but very nice. I also loved her assistant Karen. She was so sweet! All in all, a very top notch concierge team on the Getaway. I hope they are all still there when I go back on the Getaway in November.

  7. The floor seats are closer to the stage area and you will have a good view of the overhead area. I was in the Haven last October and our concierge, Ruth, escorted us down a service elevator that exited right at the Illusionarium. Once there, they did assign us tables, but Haven guests entered first. So, if you opted for the banquet seats, you would probably be assigned at the front of that area instead of the back. Also, the magicians chose volunteers from both areas.

  8. Thanks for all the replies. I was afraid that would be the case. Oh well, as Cmdchiefthom suggests, I guess it will be the convertible sofa for her. Would love to have one of the amazing H4's, but barring a fantastic sale, it will probably be an H5 or H7 for us.

Bear3412 - cool picture of a split bed arrangement in an H7. So maybe there are a very few of these. Do you know the cabin number?

  9. Do any of the Haven suites have beds that can be separated to make two beds? I just came back from an amazing cruise on the Getaway in a spa suite and I would love to book a haven suite for my DD (27) and myself for next year. I know the spa suite beds are true kings that do not separate, but was hoping for this in one of the other suite types.

  10. Based on the date of the story, this must have been the Liberty cruise I just returned from. I agree that something other than being a solo traveler must have triggered the search. There were probably lots of solo cruisers on this cruise since it was one of the "no single supplement" cruises (I was one). Now I know why I got a little extra scrutiny from the customs agent. Nothing major, just a few additional questions, but I wondered about it at the time.

  11. Boy, that is a tough one. Which is more important to you, itinerary/extra day or new ship/balcony cabin?

I have sailed both lines and like both, but my preference would be the new ship and a balcony. The extra day and new ports would be very tempting, but in the end I don't think I would be happy in a 1a cabin. Although the Breeze is also a new ship, the Getaway sounds amazing with lots to do and the pricing is very good for a brand new ship. I would have to hop on that while I could get it.

  12. I guess my experience is a little different than everyone else's. We were in 10164 in October. I did notice some noise from both the staircase and the steward's closet, although I would book this cabin again in a heartbeat. A couple of times at night I was briefly woken by someone letting the door slam as they went through the door. And on our cruise, our steward positioned her cart outside of the closet and we often heard her in the hallway talking to other guests and the other stewards in the area. This was only during the day so wasn't that much of a bother to us. My daughter caught a bit of a cold while we were on the cruise, so we spent more time in the cabin than usual, maybe that's why we noticed more than most. It was a pretty nice place to be and the balcony was heaven!

  13. Some of the safes have a sticker on them saying to NOT use your sign and sail card... I also read in a thread here that if you did it would deactivate your sign and sail, I have no idea if that's true.

It's true. It doesn't happen often, but it happened to me on the morning of disembarkation a couple of years ago. Not with my S&S card but with the old gift card I was using for the safe. What can happen is that the magnetic strip on the card can get de-magnetized and if it does, it will no longer open the safe. I had to call the purser's desk and wait for someone to come up and open the safe for me.

  14. I do!:) I'm from East TN and pass by there every time I go to Nashville, with the occasional stop at the outlet mall!

Thanks for posting! My DH isn't much of a cruise, but I have been thinking of trying to get him to go on this one. I think he might like 5 days better than 7 and a shorter drive than FL.

Can't wait to hear about Progresso.:)

  15. Welcome to Cruise Critic!:) This looks like a good cabin to me. Nice location near the mid-ship elevators which should make it easier to get where you are going on the ship. Here are the details for your cabin:

  16. One of my cruise traditions is to head straight to Lido after boarding and have a Funship Special. :) That's how I know I'm truly on vacation.

My other tradition is to take sunset pictures. I just love sitting on the balcony or standing on Lido looking out at a beautiful sunset & the pics just remind me of that feeling.:p
