  1. I thought it was a local ordinance. Not a cruise specific policy. My mistake then

The limited selection is based on 'state taxes'. Meaning, RCL has agreed to buy & pay for these taxes for limited beers & liquor selections. Once the ship hits international waters, which I believe is 12 miles, the bar is then opened for all selections & the Texas state taxes are null & void.

  2. Excellent review! w/ really nice images. Our only attempt to cruise on the Navigator was when the Ship Channel in Houston had a major oil spill and the Coast Guard would not allow the cruise ships leave Galveston. So... sat we did. .. in Galveston til Wed. morning when the Capt finally got his green light leave port. We sat sail for Cozumel. Everyone received 100% refund plus 25% on the next cruise. Needless to say, the cruise was unsettling. But we pushed through it and actually ended up on a positive note. We look forward to being on the Navi again one day w/ better circumstances.

BTW, I suspect the different pricing of the drinks from bar to bar is based on the type of liquor being poured etc.

Enjoy the balance of your cruise and thank you for taking the time to share your vacation w/ me!

  3. We'll be on our first Celebrity cruise in August. I have a feeling that it will go like this..

1st cruise = fresh, new experience, exciting, fun

After a half dozen of cruises = stale, old news, expected

For the amount of money we all spend on our cruises, we all should have a wonderful time. If not, time to move on. Which is exactly what you're doing.

My best to you on all of your future cruises!

  4. Let's talk about Baltic Cruises in this thread. There are very few threads on this subject, most likely because more people cruise the Caribbean vs the Baltics. So please everyone chime in! Especially those with Baltic Cruises experiences.

    1. What ship?

    2. Cabin per category?

    3. Best weather month?

    4. Best air travel month?

Post away, let's chat it up. I'm trying to learn all I can as we're booking a 2018 Baltic Cruise.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Saw Grease on Independence... Great acting in a show with absolutely no redeeming moral values to convey. It was totally inaccurate to my experience and the majority of other's experiences in that timeframe. We actually cared about getting good grades, not about the nonsense that was portrayed. I'm actually surprised RCCL went with this nonsense.

So here's my question... why was it necessary to have the actors/actresses smoke on stage? It added nothing to the story. In addition, it gave a message that smoking was okay. C'mon, if you don't want people to smoke in their cabins or on their balconies, then don't glorify their smoking onstage!

    Major mistake by RCCL!

I can't tell if you're trolling... If you are, this is a good one, if you're not, I will say that you have absolutely no clue as to what GREASE even means.

  6. As of today, Chicago has had 23 murder victims this year. You just have to put it all in perspective.

While it's a shame about the murders in Chicago, it's also a shame that most assume that the entire city is under siege. This is clearly not the reality. Chicago is a great town. Actually a fun town to vist and enjoy. If one was to drill down one would find that the majority of the Chicago murders occur within a 15 square block area. Couple this w/ the fact that law enforcement has been instructed to stand down in this zone.

All cities has there areas of increased crime, robberies, and murders, St. Lucia is no different. But w/ 19 murders w/ a small population in a small geographic area, this isn't a place to take lightly.

  7. It's only taken me 35 years to come up with this.

All of our recent cruises were on ships that came out < 2years before we sailed.

As a result, we've paid a premium for our cruise vacations.

It occurs to me that we could probably take several cruises in the same time frame if we don't go on the newest ships.

So the question is, would you rather go on the latest and greatest once, or go on several cruises on some of the older ships?

    # of cruises > age of the ship

  8. We did the custom Trikes in Aruba, really a great time as the tour covered the entire island. EZ to operate, fun to ride. We had a late departure in Aruba so we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at El Gaucho. "The Best & Biggest Steaks in Aruba", they were amazing steaks w/ a great local ambiance. Would do again.

In Curacao, we did an all inclusive private beach resort, Santa Barbara Beach Resort. We enjoyed it. Nice spot but would most likely attempt to experience something different given the opportunity.

Bonnaire... have not been but I hear the snorkeling is the best!

    Enjoy!

  9. When you buy space on a floating city of 5000+, you're going to part of & hear a tremendous amount of different takes on what a cruise line should and should not do. Why? Because most of us all believe that our money & opinion is important! The bigger the ship, the bigger the amount of opinions.

And let's face it folks, nothing is ever like it used to be. OK, maybe paper clips. One can live in today's world and dream about yesteryear if you want, but I always look forward to change and I'm pleasantly satisfied when it's all for the better.

Now if they can just get a better supplier for that damn toliet valve.

  10. Were there any excursions offered in San Juan the day of departure? We have a late afternoon flight and I don't see any excursions offered in San Juan through the website. Thanks!

We enjoyed a walking tour the day we deported. Google, 'Flavors of San Juan'

it was a nice tour w/ plenty of time to board the ship!

    Happy Cruising!

  11. Well that is/was a good thing. Because you woudn't have been able to see her anyway. The fog was very heavy this morning and she would have most likely been delayed inbound and therefore outbound.

  12. Cafe Puerto Rico has great food and drinks. They open at 5pm for dinner.

Excellent choice. Great menu & service. Near the port and they DO take reservations, which I highly recommend.

  13. Random question, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the Sabor guacamole is available in the Schooner Bar sometimes. Is it possible for you to confirm that this is true? And if it is, if you could find out the cost that would be great!

I can tell you that Sabor is located adjacent to the Schooner Bar. There was a couple of times I went to Sabor just to order one of their great Margaritias.... to go! Carried it to the Schooner Bar. I'm sure you could do the same for the Guac, but at a price of course.
