Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. In our case we have travelled to Edinburgh from Halifax via Heathrow. All booked with Air Canada but the internal flight was with British Airways. We checked our luggage in at Halifax and picked up in Edinburgh. We cleared immigration in Heathrow and stayed in an hotel overnight. Our flights were in different terminals with over 15 hours lay over. We did the same on the return journey, luggage straight to Halifax. We always check the tags and have air tags as added precaution, which have proved useful .
  2. A few years ago on the Queen Mary we were able to disembark in Halifax. It was a transatlantic crossing and we had permission to disembark before arriving in New York . It was dealt with prior to the cruise and immigration came on the ship. We only missed a sea day .I believe there were other passengers who did this. It was great for us as a short taxi ride home instead of a flight from New York.
  3. Yes air tags are the way to go. On at trip to Edinburgh earlier this year again our case didn’t arrive Again my husband’s suit for our daughter’s wedding. The airline said the case was in Halifax but he was able to advise that it was in Heathrow and it was delivered the next day. We wont travel without them now even in our hand luggage .
  4. We recently went on a Cunard cruise from New York. We like the idea of the formal nights and dress accordingly . We live in Halifax and since COVID have very few direct flight options. Imagine how lucky we felt to be able to book direct from Halifax to Newark. What could go wrong with our luggage? Well the aircraft was Air Express and a small aircraft. The usual request to check in hand baggage and then an announcement that the plane was weight restricted so they weren’t going to do that. When we arrived at the carousel to collect our luggage one of our cases was missing. Of course this had my husband’s tuxedo in it. Not too worry Air Canada assured us the case would be delivered to our hotel . We arrived Friday and the cruise was Monday. The case made the journey to Boston later on Friday and then to Newark later that night. We knew this through the air tag . It sat there until we made the decision on Sunday to go and get it. Arriving at the terminal we were told it was with United Airlines at a different terminal . We were eventually reunited with the case. Even though we did separate our clothes into two cases not actually full outfits .Lesson learned for next time. Also need to invest in rain covers for cases but that is another story.
  5. We were also on this crossing. We left the ship at our allotted time . We hadn’t heard any info about how bad the weather was. After waiting for taxis or Uber we decided to walk out of the area and see if we could catch a ride. We managed to do that and arrived at our Newark hotel drenched . Once we got home to Halifax,Nova Scotia it took a day or so to dry out our luggage .I hope you get your luggage soon and you are able to salvage some contents. We will make sure we have luggage covers for our next trips. We already use Air tags.

    QM2 Dining

We were recently on QM2 from New York to New York. For the first crossing we had fixed early dining on deck 2. We had family join in Southampton to Hamburg and they were on open dining. We switched and I always booked 6 for 6 on the my voyage app. We sat at the same table each night, on deck 3. We were able to return to our original deck 2 table for the return crossing.
