  1. We really enjoyed the Gastropub at night. No wait. You get to order two selections plus appetizer and dessert. So as a couple u share 4 items for ur main course. Fun tasting! Lobster mac was great. Loved the gourmet grilled cheese and soup. Ernesto was unique and delicious. Scallops ok. Desserts just ok. Worth the charge for us. We don't dress up for formal nights so it was a nice quiet casual alternative.
  2. I was on the Voice with ldyandrea and none of our rehearsals interfered with any shore excursions. They told us they never do. Either sea days or port days after ship leaves. Voice was awesome! So much fun.
  3. We just returned from the same cruise. We brought deep but never used it. Never saw a mosquito the whole time. And we did some serious nature exploration. Hope it's the same for u!
  4. Thanx everyone! Hope u all have as a wonderful a cruise as we did!
  5. Glad to help Cynthia. You will love it. We booked next Jan 16 while we were on the ship! Similar itinerary but includes Bonaire and Princess Cays which will be new for us. And we want to see Grenada and Dominica again!
  6. We just returned home today from the best vacation of our lives! We loved the Crown. The ship is clean and beautiful. The service was friendly and consistently first-rate. The show Magic to Do was the best we have seen in 17 cruises. The pools were rarely crowded. We could always find a hot tub that wasn't full. The spa was incredible. And the food was excellent. We enjoyed Crown Grill, Crab Shack and the Gastropub. But we thought Club Class dining was consistently as good as the specialty restaurants. Especially the nightly specials. Wow they were good! We never waited a minute. The service was quick and we could always get a private table for two to talk as my wife and I enjoy doing at dinner. The buffet was small but good. Pizza and ice cream really good on this ship. The Ernesto burger was amazing. Other burgers just ok. The Sanctuary was just wonderful. We booked it for 4 days of our 10 day cruise. Most comfortable chairs at sea. And when they say the serve "tea" at 3 pm - think of it more as a 4 course small meal - sandwiches of all kinds (the chicken salad was amazing), cookies, then pastries. And then scones. And of course tea. Now the ship draws an older, quieter crowd. We were looking for a quiet ship that felt uncrowded without a party scene. We wanted to rest, enjoy the views of the water, eat great food, see a few good shows and sleep in a beautiful cabin. We got all that and more. But I can imagine that those that want water slides and lots of new features on a ship and a loud and late night life will be bored on the Crown. Sometimes it was so quiet after 11 pm I felt like we were on a big yacht of our own! We loved it but probably not for everyone. I sing Karaoke and my wife and I had so much fun. Met wonderful people. I entered the Voice of the Ocean contest and to my shock I won it! It was so much fun. Felt just like the tv show. I highly recommend it if you like to sing at all. We we stayed in a suite for the first time. E 733 which is a Vista Suite. We fell in love with that aft view! And the wonderful bathroom. The itinerary was amazing. We loved Eagle Beach at Aruba. Take a taxi and try Coco Loco Beach Bar. Chairs and umbrellas are expensive - $40 for 2. But really nice and clean bathrooms and good food and drinks. An uncrowded perfect beach with amazing water. We find Eagle Beach to be one of the best in the world. We just shopped in Curaçao. Beautiful city. Played on the beach at Grand Turk and spent an extra day on ship at St Thomas. Grenada and Dominica were highlights for us. Lush and beautiful with so much nature to see and experience. On Dominica we did a private tour all day with Nahgie Laflouf from Go Dominica. We cannot recommmend this more highly! Reasonable price. Great guide. Dominica was devastated by Hurricane Maria. But it is recovering and is already so lush. Nahgie would stop all along the way and pick us fruit and fragrant leaves to smell and identify. We went to Trafalgar Falls, kayaked the freshwater lake, ate a local meal, drove through the rainforest and saw the most amazing views. We snorkeled Champagne Reef - bubbles come up from the bottom from volcanic gas. Amazing! We saw an octopus! He was incredible. Amazing reef and fish life and a 17th century Spanish cannon. And the biggest highlight was Titou Gorge - hard to even describe - where they filmed some of Pirates of the Caribbean. It is a stream thru a gorge. You can jump in from high above or just walk in. Then you have to swim up stream until you reach a hidden waterfall. Unreal! Princess is classic cruising at its best. This was our first Princess cruise. Hopefully there will be many more!
  7. Thanx. We are in a suite and plan to arrive at 1030. Do we still run a risk of not getting chairs?
  8. We board the Crown tomorrow! So excited. We want to go straight to the Sanctuary to reserve loungers. What deck do we board on? And what is the quickest way to get to the Sanctuary at boarding? Thanx!
  9. Anyone done the Princess excursion to St John that leaves from the pier so u dont have to take a taxi and the ferry? We just want as much time at Trunk Bay as possible and this seems like it might be the best option. Only problem is it’s only 4 hours. Wondering how much time that actually gives us on Trunk Bay? Is there a better way to do Trunk Bay?
  10. One of our fav excursions ever was to Trunk Bay. I’m looking for a way to go straight from the ship to St. John. There is an excursion that does that but the whole thing is only 4 hours. So maybe 2 hours at Trunk Bay. Anyone know of a way to go to St. John for the whole day?
  11. Thanx everyone! So helpful. Can’t wait!
  12. We board the Crown this Sunday! Woohoo! i have noticed that all the islands we will be on are one hour ahead of ET except Grand Turk. Do we stay on ship time when we go ashore? Also - never been on Princess before. What are some fav things to do the first day? And where is the best place to eat lunch? Finally - we love to get on the ship ASAP. We are in a suite. What time is best to arrive at port to be the first ones on the ship?
  13. Can anyone compare palm beach and eagle beach in Aruba? We have only been to Eagle. Is Palm crowded? Same amazing clear calm water?
  14. We are so excited to now be only 2 weeks away from our longest cruise ever. 10 nights on Crown to S Caribbean. We will be in E733 a Vista suite. Never been in a suite before so extra excited! For those who have been on the Crown what are some of your favorite things to do or secret tips to know? Our itinerary is Aruba, Curaçao, Dominica, Grenada, St. Thomas, and grand Turk. Here are our plans for each stop tho we are flexible. Love to hear any of your thoughts or alternate ideas: Aruba - we want a beach day. We stayed on Eagle beach once and loved it so much we hope to go back and just find a place to rent chairs and an umbrella. Curaçao - we are thinking about just walking around and shopping. Is everything close to the ship or do you need to take a taxi to shop? Grenada - we plan to get a day pass at LaLuna. Anyone done that and what did you think? Dominica - we are going to do a private tour with Just Go Dominica so we can do whatever we want on the itinerary. What are your favorite things to do in Dominica? St Thomas - we think we may stay on the ship and just do a relaxing day Grand Turk - The cruise port here looks amazing! We think we will just hang out at the beach. Thanks to everyone who has answered so many good questions and the last several months for us. It has really helped our excitement to grow. Love this for him!
