  1. We are on the Crown Jan 15 to S Carib and the Star to Alaska in July. What should we book before we get on the ship and how far in advance? Specialty dinners? Drink packages? Spa reservations? Shore excursions? What am I missing? We are in a full suite and so I think we already have the thermal suite isn't that correct? In the past we have either waited until we were on the ship or booked things a few weeks out but it seems to me more is being done online and I don't want to miss out on the things we want to do. Thanks!
  2. Thank u so much everyone! So helpful
  3. We are considering booking the April 15 2021 Hawaii and Tahiti cruise on the jewel. It's been along time since we have been on Norwegian. This will be our 40th anniversary and so we are looking at the SM category aft suite with large balcony or the SD category forward suite with large balcony. Can someone help me with these questions? Which of these do you prefer? Do you get too much wind on the forward balconies? Is this a new itinerary for the ship? I can't find reviews of a Hawaii and Tahiti cruise on Norwegian? Has anyone done one and if so do you recommend it? Since we will not be in the haven what are the suite benefits on the jewel? Is there a special restaurant where we can eat breakfast and lunch? Does this category of suite get the butler and concierge service? Any other issues with the suites on the jewel that we should be aware of? I have read some conflicting things online about suite benefits for this ship. Were the suites upgraded during the recent drydock? All the videos of the aft suites are old and the carpet looks hideous and the room just looks dated. How is the thermal suite on the ship? We have really enjoyed these. Is it coed? Is there a hydrotherapy pool? Does this ship have a vibe or some other quiet adult only sundeck? thanks!

  5. Thank u so much everyone! Such great help. This will be a tough decision
  6. We are currently booked next July on an Alaska cruise on Royal. We have B735 which is an Aft suite. I am a little concerned about all the posts about soot on the Royal Aft balconies. We had an Aft on Crown this year and enjoyed it very much. But don't like soot! i just saw that Star has a 10 night out of San Francisco for about the same price as the 7 night on Royal. Would u change if u were me? It looks like Star is identical to Crown and we could get the same Aft suite we like. But is there a downside to Star versus Royal? One other option wud be to shift to a Norway cruise about the same time. For those who have done Norway and Alaska - which do u prefer? Thanx!
  7. We love the Voice of the Ocean. I had fun and actually won it on the Crown last year. Do they have it on Royal in Alaska?
  8. The spa makes the cruise for us. Just ultimate relaxation. To really splurge try the 10-20-30 deal. U get 10% off first treatment, 20% off second, and 30 off on the third. But it only applies to the expensive treatments. If u just want more basic treatments try to book the port day specials. That will be cheaper. Often u can still get off the ship and make it back in time for the massage. The scrub rub followed by a shower then a full massage and u will float back to ur deck chair for a nice nap! Book on the day u board or beforehand online because some ships fill the prime times quickly.
  9. We will be on the Royal from Vancouver to Whittier Alaska July 11 2020. All our cruises have been Caribbean so we are excited to try something new. Any advice on a short land trip after the cruise? I have heard about train trips which sound great. Anyone care to share their experiences and advice? Thanx!
  10. We have booked the Royal for an Anniversary cruise to Alaska. Excited but a little concerned about reports of soot. We have booked an Aft Suite Baja 735. I have not seen any reports of soot on Baja. Anyone been in this cabin or know if all the decks on Royal have soot issues or just some? And I wud welcome anyone's experience with this particular cabin. Thanx!
  11. Thanx everyone! Very helpful. Looks like we will have Baja 735. Excited!
  12. We are going to book the Royal for an Alaskan cruise next Summer. Our 40th anniversary so we are splurging and will book one of the Aft Corner suites. Does anyone recommend one deck over another? Baja, Dolphin, Caribe and Aloha are available. On the deck plan it looks like Baja and Dolphin balconies are bigger. Is that correct? And if so does that mean the cabin itself is smaller? Thanx!
  13. We really enjoyed the Gastropub at night. No wait. You get to order two selections plus appetizer and dessert. So as a couple u share 4 items for ur main course. Fun tasting! Lobster mac was great. Loved the gourmet grilled cheese and soup. Ernesto was unique and delicious. Scallops ok. Desserts just ok. Worth the charge for us. We don't dress up for formal nights so it was a nice quiet casual alternative.
  14. I was on the Voice with ldyandrea and none of our rehearsals interfered with any shore excursions. They told us they never do. Either sea days or port days after ship leaves. Voice was awesome! So much fun.
