That's what we did for our cruise. Bought Disney Gift cards with our Target Red card (5% discount) and then used them to pay for our cruise. And put some on our onboard account.
This sounds like a great plan every little bit helps! :D

Greetings everyone and thanks for the information. The wife likes those sparkling flavored waters and we would like to bring some with our luggage.
-
Greetings. The wife and I are applying for a Target credit card and buying Disney gift cards to get a discount. Disney is not the cheapest so we want to save where we can.

If we let a Rockefeller run things it might be 1984 on the ship with spy cams and high taxes on medical care and security. They'll have TSA groping us at dinner and shills running the drugs.

Greetings, thanks for the wonderful review. Star Princess will be our first major cruise and we're very excited!

My family did a Christmas cruise two years ago. We loved it. My late twenty something daughters and their husbands along with my seventy something Mother came along. They had Christmas carol singing, cookie decorating, ginger bread house contest. Decorations and trees every where. It even "snowed" on board. Christmas music playing through out the ship. Christmas day there was a stocking with candy on our pillows. I would do it again in a heart beat. We were on the Caribbean Princess. We were not at all bothered by a lot of kids. It was great!!!
How wonderful. We're now tossed between Disney and Princess for a Christmas Cruise in a couple years! :)

The wife wants to do a Disney cruise after Adventure of the Seas. I had to compromise to see the Caribbean before we do Canada where her folks are from. This will also be no friends and colleagues, we're taking the kiddies this time. :)

I always book with an online travel agent. I usually book several hundred dollars less than what Princess can do. About the best way I know of is to meet someone on a cruise that has experience and ask who they book with.
Great information, thanks. We booked directly with the company with both Princess and Royal Caribbean.

Happiness is being welcomed aboard by the Princess staff/crew as soon as my foot steps on the ships deck.
What is your Happiness
This is a fun thread. Looks like we chose the right cruise line for our first major cruise!

Thank you for the wonderful advice. We would indeed prefer Freedom of the Seas looking at the actual ships, but our whole point of flying out there is to see the Caribbean. We're going with Adventure of the Seas for the ports.

Greetings, we're looking at Freedom of the Seas for April 2016, which goes to Cococay, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. This would be a cheaper flight and give us a chance to visit Orlando.
Then there's Adventure of the Seas, which goes to St. Thomas, St. Croix, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Grenada. This option would give us more islands, and a chance to see Puerto Rico.
This will be an adults only trip. We like the look of the beaches on Cococay and St. Maarten, but we would also enjoy more stops. We have a week to plan before the buy one get one half off sale ends. Which would you do?

Thanks for all the information. We just checked our cabin # to make sure the view is not obstructed. This will be my first cruise in decades, and the first on a major ship.

Greetings. There is a group of us building for the Star Princess next April, and a few have requested our own private area. Can a venue be purchased through the cruise line or a special travel agent? Thank you.

The special prices for cruises in 2014 are good through tomorrow. For cruises in 2015 and 2016, the promo lasts until July 15.
This is even better! Unfortunately we won't be able to do a cruise this year, but 2016 would fit our schedule just about right. There is much to choose from, and an extra 2 weeks will give us time to decide.
-
Thank you for your answers, I am intrigued. In fact I see that cruises for 2 are on sale until tomorrow. Tonight may be good research time to take advantage of it.
-
Greetings. Maybe the answer is obvious, but I am new to this website. I've been on one cruise in the mid 80's as a teenager, Cruise West. We belong to a medium size group that are currently signing up for Star Princess next year out of San Fransisco. It may just be the wife and I, but the others are welcome to join us. We would love to see the Caribbean.
Any advice is much appreciated.

If your group is at least 16 people who will occupy at least 8 cabins, yes.
I believe we can round 16 people together. Even if a few drop out, many of us are getting tired of the same Tahoe / Reno settings, as lovely as they are.
I don't know if anyone has been on Princess before to take advantage of the promotion, but I've also heard Royal Caribbean recommended. I see more options available out of California for Princess, but maybe they're both worth trying?

You recommend a person who has never cruised with Princess. For each person you recommend that books a cruise within a year, you receive $25 dollars off your next cruise and they do too.
I recommended 6 people for our Alaska cruise in July (who are cruising with us). I received $150 off my cruise and they all received a $25 break on their fare. It is not a ton of money, but it is something!
(It covers a nice meal at the Crown Grill!)
Wonderful, does this work if you've never cruise with Princess yourself? I have several people that want to go next year, and we will likely invite more via e-mail. I went on Cruise West as a teenager decades ago, hopefully Princess will be a help me get my feet wet again.
One last question. Would we be eligible for a group discount?
2016?

Greetings everyone. We were hoping 2016 was already available but it's looking now like we're going to shoot for Dec 2015. I saw that Disney is expanding into the Southern Caribbean. :)
