  1. what are the practicalities of taking LFT prior to getting off for the day ? when and how are they done? is there a great queue? does it spoil any aspect of your cruise?
  2. Just to clarify :- Its only the caribbean cruises that are affected. Unvaccinated children can still go elsewhere but are subject to a PCR test. Vaccinated means double jabbed - not just one jab. I am absolutely gutted for my young Grandchlidren who have now been cancelled twice within 3 weeks of going during the last 18 months. My party of 4 cabins are now not going on Caribbean cruise 22 Oct. kev
  3. I have this evening received notification ( e mail) of changes to booked orders of excursions on B124 Transatlantic caribbean cruise. However, I cannot see what the changes are. The dates , times and prices are the same as they were when booked. Has anyone else received a similar email? The excursions being referred to are beach breaks in Antiqua and Castries. kev
  4. Hi everyone, can anyone tell me if it is possible to have my Duvet changed for a much lower tog rating. Dont know for sure but suspect on my staycation cruise recently it was about 15 and far too warm to use. Despite turning the AC to freezing it was so uncomfortable in bed. am going to Caribbean end of the month and I am already dreading bed time. Anyone else have this problem or can advise. Even considered taking duvet out of cover and not using it. thank you kev
  5. Can anyone clarify how many formal nights there will be on Britannia`s return to international cruising. I have always known there to be 4 on a fourteen night cruise but recent readings seem to indicate that these will be reduced to only 2.
  6. I am going 22 October on transatlantic re positioning of Britannia B124. The flight details were up 2 weeks ago but with only 4 weeks before the cruise I still cannot select seats. I can only think that the type of plane to be used has not yet been decided. Tui is the carrier so Dreamliner is their plane of choice normally for long hauls. What can the problem be?
  7. Further to this issue, can anyone please clarify the new rules with regard to unvaccinated children returning to the uk? Do 11 year olds need a PCR because they are not vaccinated or do they need just an LFT ? The government makes some reference to children under 11 but does this mean aged 10 maximum or are 11 year olds classed as under 11? It would make much more sense if it said 11 and below. Any Children under 18 are likely not to have had double jabs so what is the ruling for these youngsters? I am finding the government statement completely confusing.
  8. When I posted this topic I thought it would get some replies and reactions from those I am trying to embarass. Unfortunately only the considerate caring and sensible cruisers have replied and I am not surprised that they share my views. Some have even stronger views than mine. Clearly, the selfish inconsiderate and rule breakers dont read this forum or even worse, couldn`t care less what we think. Sadly, Like the covid anti vacine brigade, we probably just have to live with them. It would be good if someone could think of a great way to highly embarass these people. Public humiliation is the greatest fear of rule breakers so come on everyone lets get our thinking caps on. regards to all kev
  9. Here we go again.Just come off Iona `s southern shores cruise. The weather was sunny and warm, and guess what ? On one day at 9.0 am the entire starboard promenade deck ( sunny side) was covered in towels reserving them. There are dozens of loungers. Only 3 passengers were lay on them. To the best of my knowledge only british citizens were allowed on the ship - Not any Germans aboard ! In my humble opinion we the british are the worst culprits for this behaviour. We are also very quick to blame others. I dread to think how things will be once cruising returns properly. How can this behaviour be defended by those perpetrators.?
  10. I have just been informed that the 4 in a lift rule has been dropped and the BLUE resting stickers on tables and chairs have also been removed . Can anyone confirm these changes please. Apparently the comments are from someone currently aboard IONA.
  11. Further to my comments, I travelled on Eavesway from Bolton 28th August to join Iona. The coach driver informed us all about the new decision. If you test negative at the port you will be allowed on the ship - even if other passengers on the same coach test positive.
  12. Anyone having travelled to Southampton by coach and testing negative will now not be refused embarkation if fellow travellers are positive. This is a complete u-turn. Of course, all positives will still be turned away. Common sense at last.
  13. We have just returned from Iona G129. This was a special Anniversary for us and we looked so much forward to the sizzling steaks on Lava plates on our special day. The Beach house has always been our favourite place to eat and is still listed as a speciality restaurant and so we booked it as soon as we got on board. It is still listed as a speciality restaurant in the Horizon every day. What a disaster!!!! It is not a speciality restaurantat all but just a normal part of the horizon buffet albeit with a written menu and waiter service. The menu is pathetic. There is no longer an additional charge to dine here and apart from my party of 6 only a few others were in there. When I expressed my disappointment to the hotel manager he said it was no longer a speciality restaurant but a somewhere in between! and if I wanted a steak there is a good one to be had in the KEEL and COW at a good price of £13. I am sure many of you have enjoyed dining in The Beach House on other ships so please be aware. When I asked an officer for an explaination he shrugged and said Covid protocol.
