  1. Cruise lines and airlines have been saying for a while that returning to service would be gradual. I can’t even imagine the logistics behind getting everything going again and besides Europe is saying only vaccinated travelers can cross their border. I was scheduled to take my extended family on Crystal in 2020, that was pushed to June 2021 and well we all know how that has turned out. Now my family doesn’t even want to consider this year and so we’ll go June 2022. Dad isn’t convinced the Europeans won’t close the borders again and ruin his vacation. I think there are a lot of people think
  2. It sounds like you’re looking for Crystal, for many of the same reasons why I love sailing on them. The ships have a proper wrap-around promenade deck, a dedicated cinema, a huge array of not only enrichment activities (the most I have ever seen on any luxury ship) but also after-dinner entertainment options and best of all the food and service are extraordinary.
  3. Weird question, sounds like something a research person would ask. If you like Seabourn (4x) and prefer all-inclusive why would YOU want to go on Cunard? I sail Crystal, but also like Cunard QM2 - and not happy my August transatlantic has been cancelled thanks to COVID. However I recognize that when I sail on Cunard I’m not getting Crystal quality and inclusiveness.
  4. My August 1 transatlantic, that I was much looking forward to, has been cancelled along with a host of other sailings. Cunard announced the following:
  5. August 1 2021 QM2 TA. Keeping my fingers crossed but who knows if the UK will let anyone in.
  6. The Crystal ships have two bedroom suites, connecting suites and the deluxe suite category can take a rollaway bed. We have a deluxe booked for this summer (transferred from last year), keeping our fingers crossed!
  7. August 1 Eastbound with thoughts of continuing on after. Keeping my fingers crossed we can go.
  8. Sycamore has more cash, and diversified sources of cash, than Royal Caribbean so exactly what is everyone worried about? It looks like they bought the company for a bargain, which by the way the reported price would have to include whatever debt was coming with the company. Azamara will have a rich parent that will likely expand it (Pacific Princess?), so this is good for the company. The people who have been running Azamara are staying with the company and will likely hire more to take over back of house functions (IT, finance, etc) that Royal has been handling. This is all good, why i
  9. Wouldn't that mean Viking would be the winner of all the awards? They by far have the biggest ad budget, I see their commercials everywhere and get catalogs every week.
  10. We always look at the magazine polls because they’re based on the opinions of a lot of people. Here is the Travel & Leisure magazine ranking https://www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best/river-cruise-lines
  11. Gail & Marty....fascinating chart, where did you get this from? Can you fill in the blank for us with Seabourn? Of course revenues are one thing, profits are another.
  12. Have you been on a Crystal river cruise? I would have to respectfully disagree with your statement regarding other river lines. Crystal is a far, far superior river cruise. Food and service are EXCEPTIONAL and the ships are very lovely, with bigger cabins and many fewer passengers.
  13. I’m an avid ocean cruiser and now have five river cruises under my belt. I agree with what many others have said, you don’t need a wraparound or step out balcony on a river ship. You should consider a deluxe suite room on Crystal River Cruises, really beautiful rooms with huge beds and spacious bathroom with two sinks! Crystal Ravel and Crystal Mahler are the size boat as Viking longships with half as many passengers and over 30% more crew. I’m totally hooked on them.
  14. I was scheduled to take my parents on Crystal Bach in July, and it was cancelled. While my refund may be taking some time I will still book them again. I have enjoyed their river cruises tremendously and my travel agent said AMA, Scenic and Uniworld are only giving their passengers future cruise credits. I honestly didn't believe her, but I checked websites and its true.
  15. Open seating on Crystal means show up when you want and dine with your travel mates and/or new friends, that’s rare in river cruising. And Crystal (river ships) are always casual, and all of the rooms have panoramic balcony-windows. I would give them a serious look, I’ve sailed them twice and looking forward to my third this Summer.
