  1. To be honest. I thought you were describing us! And we love SB...after a long flight on Monday we're embarking on Tuesday for another one! We love meeting new people on our cruises and hope we bump into you on a cruise maybe some day! There are formal nights but they are only once or twice on a 2 week cruise and there are other options of venues to eat at when it happens. Also it's not as dressed up as some imagine! Personal choice really I hope you take the plunge! 👍😊
  2. It's lovely up there, we'll be there next week! We particularly enjoy it when there is a sail away or Epicurean event. 😀
  3. Yes, absolutely it is. It is internet. I send pictures, messages and videos on WA whilst on board and even have the odd call or two.
  4. The menu looks delicious, just my sort of choices of food... and the cocktails.. wow! 🍸
  5. Hi @Yorkieaboard Fellow Brit here! Having been on SB cruises for many years, my husband now doesn't take a DJ, but does take a couple of jackets. Non formal nights, he wears a long sleeve shirt, sometimes a jazzy pattern, and chinos or slacks (trousers) When dining other than the Main Restaurant he sometimes wears a smart polo shirt or a short sleeve shirt and sometimes a Hawaiian shirt or similar with chinos, especially outside on a hot weather cruise. Over the years Seabourn has got a lot more casual but we still like dressing up in the evening!
  6. I love Sojourn... it was the ship for the first 4 cruises we did with SB so it holds a special place in our hearts! Say hello to the dog on Deck 5 for me! We are Quest in February and have just got to get ourselves to Buenos Aires... what a long journey that is! Have a good cruise! 🥂😎
  7. I don't want a 'plated meal' at lunchtime (unless I have my treat which is a Napa burger I indulge in just once a week! Or the fish at the Patio) . I want the freedom and informality of the Colonnade at lunchtime, I want to pick and choose and I couldn't cope with triple the choice... there's quite enough choice for me. You are obviously not happy with SB anymore, everyone to their own and I am glad you have found your niche with another cruise line. For us... we are happy with our choice of SB and very much looking forward to our next cruise in 62 days, can't wait!
  8. I'm not 'a poor punter sputtering in the Colonnade' and I don't 'grab' my food I take my time deciding what I would like to partake of washed down with a nice glass of chilled Rosé sat outside in the warm sun watching the white trail as the ship moves through the waters! Can't beat it. Cheers! 🍷
  9. Good luck. However.... trying to check on our guest registration for our upcoming cruise is impossible! I know they have changed the website, but its unworkable at the moment.
  10. It's 2pm here and if it was a sea day, I would hope to be in one of my favourite places... either deck 5 or above the sky bar on a double padded bed, with a good book!
  11. We've been on Deck 5 before and it honestly wasn't a problem. If I got a good deal, I would do it again. We just like high up becaue we don't suffer from seasickness!
  12. Yes, and FCC 5%, and we are actually due a free week (Milestone Cruise thingy) but we are going to wait until we have two weeks free which we are not far from.
  13. Well done! We started off at V2 (we're never worried about being midship), but all that was left was a connecting room, then moved on to V3 but the only two available were next to a V2 (hardly worth the extra expense) so went for a V4 staggering distance from the Obs Bar!
  14. @cruising.mark.uk Thank you! I get lots of emails from SB, and no doubt I had this, but didn't pay attention. We've just booked!
  15. I can't imagine for one moment you will be turned down! We also asked for a special meal (both our birthdays are days apart and for once, we were on a cruise for that!) and we had a few people for a special Indian banquet in the Restaurant. SB could not have been more helpful and someone in Guest Services designed a really fun invitation. We did start to arrange this over a week in advance though. The person to speak to was the man in charge of Restaurant (sorry I am not good at knowing titles!) We were on a long cruise so the Executive Chef chatted to us about the sort of dishes we wanted... it was a great evening, and I am sure you will have the same! We also have never asked for any special request at all, as we are go with the flow people and we only did it this time as it was an occasion for us... I can't imagine it will happen again. I have seen the most labour intensive requests imaginable, better not say what, but it caused disruption to three restaurants on one night!
  16. We've met the nicest people travelling on their own. And enjoy dining with them on hosted tables, and also still keep in touch with a couple of them.
  17. It was lovely for us in August, so these criticisms are puzzling me.
  18. I must be peculiar then... I like the Colonnade, especially on warm days sat outside for lunch. I just find it relaxing, and one can order from a menu if that's what appeals. I also think the Colonnade on an evening has got so much better than it used to be. Again, I only like sat outside because it's a much better ambience than inside. We rarely sit inside for any meal in the Colonnade.
  19. So is mine! (Doesn't mean to say it always happens though! I love a napa burger but limit myself to one a week!)
  20. Nor me. We were on Encore only a couple of months ago and all the staff were charming. Not a problem from one of them.
  21. I'm afraid we had an awful experience with leaving something on the ship. It was something to do with health, that actually cost ££££, along with my husband's meds. It had a name and address prominent on the outside of the bag, and was accidentally left in the bedside table. Within 15 minutes of disembarking and realising our error, we were already on the coach going to a SB arranged hotel to wait for our flight. As soon as we reached the hotel, (maybe 20 minute journey) we had the ground staff there contact the ship and we were told they had it safe and to go back to the ship and collect it. Such relief! We caught a taxi straight back and asked the driver to wait. We waited and waited for someone to see us and we eventually had to let the taxi go. After some time, an officer we didn't recognise came out and told us it had been put to 'garbage'. Despite being told it had been found, and was there for us to collect, and catching a taxi back to the ship, it was thrown away. We then had to get another taxi and head back to the hotel and we were very disappointed at how it was handled.
  22. So many have been calling for the end of TKG for so long! I will miss it, because I've never had a problem with it, but I'm also excited by Solis, there's many dishes on the menu that appeal to me
  23. @Nops As far as SB reaching out to you... I wonder if that's because your preferences on your account on the SB website is set to 'no marketing emails'. ? I have mine opened up to emails because they can be quickly deleted (much like the ones that aren't working at the moment!)
  24. Totally agree. I have no idea what's going on with the marketing emails at the moment ... I received another email this morning and one of the cruises was of interest. I clicked on it and it took me to the SB website, but only half of the ports loaded so I have no idea what the complete itinerary is. Of course, there are ways of finding out through other methods, but I don't think SB are realising that decisions turn on a sixpence, who knows but the customer has tabs for other cruise lines open, and would just move to looking into another one, not SB.
  25. I had the same! Every link was sold out, I agree. What's the point? The trouble is, it has a knock on effect of me not bothering to click on any links in marketing emails.
