Received an email 5/1/24 from value trips stating Hyatt place overbooked and our reservation for 2 rooms fpr 5/17-18/24 is canceled. Has anyone experienced this? Don't understand how a reservation confirmed on Jan 16. suffers the loss, does not make sense.
Called hotel and was told they have a top floor room with 2 beds for $600.
We are contacting you regarding your above reservations for May 17 for 1 night.
The hotel has contacted us and, unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, they have informed us
that they are oversold for May 17 due their airline crew contract.Because of this, they have had to cancel your Reservations.

You won’t. You have a ton of alternatives in the rare instance something catastrophic happened on the Northeast Corridor. No need to go the night before unless you want to go the night before.
That's true.

I don’t think that’s necessary, if you want to research a plan b to make you feel better, check out Uber to public transportation options, like a bus. I live 10 miles from Manhattan and there are different ways I can get there, several buses, several train stations, park and rides, ferries…
Thanks.

Doable? Yes. But remember, ANY sort of crap can happen. On trespasser, one downed branch on the catenary and you're screwed.
I live in Central NJ and drive or take the train up the day before.
Can you make it? Yes. Might you get stuck. Also yes. And you never know when the damn portal bridge will get stuck or when a train will break down and shut the entire NEC down for a few hours, at least between PHL and New York/Newark.
Not trying to argue, just letting you know to be aware that crazy can-and does-happen.

Even though it's a slightly longer ride to Newark Penn Station the train fare is actually about $8 lower than the fare to EWR because the EWR fare includes a surcharge for the AirTrain, so that's another advantage in addition to the convenience factor.
Do you think a 9:45 train time is doable day of departure?

Technically EWR but only by a few minutes. With EWR you will need to take the AirTrain monorail to station P4 before you can get an Uber to Cape Liberty. Newark Penn you can just get a car from the station.
Thank you

Question, we are considering taking a train from Philadelphia to Bayonne, which is closer to port Newpenn or EWR?

We're sailing on Vision in May. This will only be our second cruise on Royal, our first being in late February 2022, and at that time we thought the food was waaay better than what we were getting on our Carnival cruises, especially in the MDR. That time we were on Harmony. I'm looking forward to the menu for the MDR personally. The selection and themes look good to me. What I'm wondering is if the size of the ship will make a difference. With less specialty dining options on Vision, will that mean more attention is given to make the MDR food better there?
Food selection is horrible, same options everyday. Sailed on vision 2/27-3/10/23

I felt the new menu needs to reviewed and tweaked. I was very disappointed in the menu selections on my VOS cruise the end of January. Promenade Cafe had little to offer besides substandard pizza. Windjammer was hit or miss (mainly miss). MDR choices were substandard.
On land, if you don’t like a restaurant, you are not trapped like you are on a ship. I must say Chops was amazing, as usual, however I can get the same meal in the Chicago market for the same price or lower.
I have another cruise planned in June. I hope some changes will be made by then. (Btw I could care less about the lobster -I am allergic, however it is a hot topic.)We just sailed on VOS 2/27-3/10/23-Food is horrible.

Quick question, is a 9:40am flight out of Ft. Lauderdale possible after a cruise?
Thanks in advance

If you are going to be in Miami for 10 days, will you be renting a car? If so, put your luggage in the trunk and enjoy your day until you can check into your hotel or Airbnb.
The other option, which I have done, is book the hotel or Airbnb for an extra night (your final night of the cruise). Just be sure to let them know in advance that you won't be checking in until the morning.
Brilliant

There is really no need to go to such lengths. The staff is perfectly willing and able to do whatever she needs done. Why wouldn't you want FRESH veggies etc.
Personally, I had IBS and UColitis and am diabetic. They will even keep the sugar out of my drinks! I can ask for anything and they are always happy to provide. I don't have those conditions any more thanks to a strict Keto/Carnivore diet...gone and done and 35 lbs lighter as well. I eat that way on a cruise easily too. Research is our friend.
Excellent news and congratulations.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to get from one of the Disney resorts to our post Disney (but non Disney) cruise? We will be staying at the Pop Century and will need to get to Port Canaveral on March 20. There are three of us, and would rather not spend a lot. Thanks in advance!
Try cruise control
