  1. I can confirm what RSS from SF said. I sailed on the Golden Princess Sydney to Melbourne, I'm an Australian, and as a Suite occupant, also enjoyed Elite afternoon tea.

Had 3 people whom I worked with, travelling on the same cruise. The other woman and I were occupying separate Window Suites, the 2 men were in different cabins, travelling solo. 1 male got seasick BEFORE we cleared the Sydney Heads, much teasing happened. He reckoned I'D be the first to be seasick, he didn't know I'd travelled from my cousins home by car, then the car was parked and we did the rest of the travel by train, so had taken travel sickness tablets. I was often travelsick as a child, so took precautions.

  2. I'm planning a cruise on Ovation of the Seas in 2024. Sailing out of Sydney to Eden and return. I have visited Eden by car over 50 years ago, so am fully aware there will be Many changes.

I have sailed with another cruise line but they do not have this specific itinerary. I did learn quite lot about what I really needed and what could have been left at home! Shan't make that mistake again.  Considering Deck 9.

Very much looking forward to my 1st cruise with Royal Caribbean.

I plan to purchase a Handicapped Balcony stateroom so I can enjoy my balacony should I want to be alone.

  3. For those people who prefer to bring their own pre-packages snacks, I respectfully suggest using an insulated shopping bag to keep them cool before boarding the ship. No fun trying to eat melted chocolate-was caught out ONCE and learnt to use the insulated bag with no more melted chocolate!

  4. DCPIV, what would happen if you are a Diamond+ member travelling in a Suite please?

When I do cruise Royal Caribbean, here in Australia, I will be a first time cruiser with Royal Caribbean, but saving to afford a Suite. I have sailed with another line and enjoyed the Suite Life very much. I didn't get seasick but 2 males I work with, absolutely DISGRACED themselves with seasickness! Wouldn't take medication before we boarded, and found out the hard way they did NOT tolerate the ship's motion very well!

  5. Jwattle, THANK YOU, I was certain I had read why it was removed but my memory wouldn't co-operate!

Looking forward to my March 23 cruise on the Grand Princess, Melbourne to Sydney. My Sydney cousins are trying to get me to cancel because of Covid, not a chance! I have masks and will be very careful.

  6. I will be sailing Melbourne to Sydney on the Grand Princess on the 28th to the 31st of March, 2023.

I remember reading somewhere that the Grand Princess does not have Skywalkers Bar. Please could someone who has cruised on the Grand Princess confirm this for me please? I have a vague memory of reading that it was structurally unsafe, but I could be wrong as it's some time since I read this.

I do remember going to Skywalkers Bar on the Golden Princess with a work colleague. We both sailed in Window Suites so we could attend the Platinum, Elite, Suite function. The 2 males we worked with who joined us on the cruise

, did NOT spend the money for a suite, so they couldn't attend.

1 of the males was seasick BEFORE we even cleared the Sydney Heads so he was unmercifully teased. The other male fell in the swimming pool fully dressed, to shrieks of delighted laughter at his clumsiness.

  7. If a D+ purchased a Suite would they then have access to the Suite Lounge? I'm seriously considering a First Time cruise on Royal Caribbean here in Australia when I've saved enough money to cover the fare, hotel the night before and transport getting to the ship-I don't drive due to Legal Blindness so it's a taxi for me. I'm hoping to get a suite, sailed on another line in a suite and enjoyed it very much.

Another thought.  I wonder how many times a steward has opened up a door to deliver a piece of luggage, and on the other side of that door is someone in a state of undress or something else?  I wouldn't open up that door again for a LONG time.

It's there, get it yourself!!  😉😨

They usually knock to alert you if you're in the room, in my experience with another cruise line.

Check your receipt when you sign. When you hit 10, it will start showing the number at the bottom of it.

Thank you for this information. I don't drink alcohol-my preferred drink is not available-but I appreciate knowing about where to look for the number.

I will be getting the Bottomless Bubbles package, much easier for me. Already carefully budgeting for On Board purchases, making sure money is put into On Board Credit.

Any useful tips I find in the board, I note down for my own use. I've learned HEAPS of insider tricks and shortcuts, most of which I would never have thought of myself!

  10. 368 days until I embark on Carnival Splendor out of Sydney to Moreton Island and back to Sydney. Will not be going ashore-tender port and unsteady on my feet even with a Rollator for balance. 367 days until I fly to Sydney for a night in an apartment complex recommended by a friend as having GOOD Handicapped Accessible facilities, her husband is also handicapped. She passed the information on to me and I intend to inform the front desk people of her kind recommendation when I check in.

Still need to purchase a rash vest for the thalassotherapy pool, not very good at applying sunscreen to my own back! OH! Check my summer shoes, and keep a sharp eye on a preferred shop for any suitable shoes marked down. The more money I can save, the more cruising1 😍

This should help... I think the Suite Lounge should just be that, the Suite Lounge.

Make the CL the Pinnacle Lounge and everyone else 3 drinks on Sea Pass.

    In my opinion

UNLESS the passenger has PAID to occupy a SUITE then they should have the choice between the Suite or Concierge lounges.

I've never had a problem, and I order a soda wherever they offer it. Yes, I know you can carry on sodas, but we always fly in, no car, etc... so for me, it's just much easier to do the BB instead of carrying the cases on board. I order at the bars usually when on the Lido deck though. The waiters tend to just be pretty busy, so I have no problem just going up to the bars. It's good for me to get up and walk every so often too! 🤣 As far as the shows/comedy lounge, it always depends. A lot of times it's quicker to grab a drink at a bar as you're heading over there. Again, just for my own convenience, I usually do it this way. And if you have a good MDR waiter, they'll often have the soda waiting for you at the table, which we often did. 😍

I will be flying into Sydney from interstate to stay at a serviced apartment before my cruise. There is a supermarket on the same block, so I plan to walk to it, purchase 2 6 packs-can't get a 12 pack of cans of Coke, and bring it on board for use in the cabin at night or when I feel up to walking to a bar for a cold drink.
