  1. Actually my TA works for a large online agency. She has given me great service for over ten years. She told me that from her experience, she felt that I wouldn't enjoy MSC. She wanted nothing to do wth them. I booked anyway, and after my experience today, having a10% discount because of a Gold Status Match, it looks good so far. Not having my TA involved, I called directly and within 10 minutes I had my discount. The website still seems pretty user unfriendly but I can live with it as of now. The telephone rep told me it was better to call for check-in, rather than using the website.
  2. Everybody, thank you for your answers. You've certainly eased my mind. 7. Charging extra for two shows. Other lines do this as well. $12 per person when pre-booking and only $5 if you have a specialty dining package, so it's certainly not going to break me when I am already paying hundreds/thousands of dollars for a cruise. Also, I saw Rock Circus and it was definitely worth the upcharge! How and when do you pre-book for shows. 1. Not allowing you to switch devices on wifi. I can just hot-spot my phone if I need multiple devices as I have done on other lines. I'm not tech savvy. How do you hot-spot your phone.
  3. When I told my Travel Agent I was considering a cruise on MSC, she absolutely refused to have anything to do with it. Not even for a commission, was she willing to do any business with MSC. She kiddingly said if I booked MSC, she would fly from Florida to New York and slap my face. So my previous reading on cruise critic about MSC and TA's was obviously true. But, I watched videos online about the Meraviglia, and it's a beautiful ship and reviews were mixed and I needed a week away so I booked it and obviously will not turn it over to my TA. The problems that I've seen about MSC rules are pretty ridiculous: 1. Not allowing you to switch devices on wifi. 2. Not allowing you to use your drink package in specialty restaurants. 3. Smaller portions in the dining room. 4. User unfriendly website and app. 5. Muster drill in room and then telephone call and everyone jamming stairs to check their card at muster station. 6. Copied from a cruise critic entry:"Their pre-cruise booking process, e-mail communication, and online/phone support is a glorified turd in most instances. 7. Charging extra for two shows. 8. Not allowing drinks in the theater.
  4. 1, I've just booked my first MSC cruise and I have several questions to begin with. I'm Elite+ on Celebrity and Diamond+ on Royal Caribbean. What status would either of those give me on MSC? 2. I've read that you're not allowed to switch devices if you've booked a one device wifi plan. Is that true? If so how much would it cost to add a second device on board, for a seven day cruise, at whatever my status would be? 3. How much are the daily gratuities? 4. I've read that you're only allowed one pool towel and have to bring it back to your room to be replaced. Does that mean that there is no way to get a second towel when at the pool or in your room? Thank you in advance for any info you can give this newbie. Rich
  5. I'm not familiar with MSC's rules. Can I book a cruise online and then transfer the booking to my travel agent?
  6. Thank you Ken. I thought that was the rule, but I just wanted to make sure nothing has changed.
  7. In the past when this cruise was cancelled, a $200 penalty was charged and $700 was able to be used for a future cruise. Is this still the same rule now?
  8. She stated that she has a home in Las Vegas.
  9. Roatan is one of my favorite ports. If you're an animal lover, like me, you can visit sloths, monkeys and iguanas on ship or private excursions. For private, I recommend Victor Bodden tours. I've use their private tours for years.
  10. On deck 11 is the smoking area on the port or starboard side?
  11. Has anyone ever had to cancel a specialty restaurant reservation while you were on board the ship?
  12. I've booked a dinner on day 4 using on board credit, but when I get on board, can I cancel the dinner and get a credit back. I know I can cancel shore excursions, but can specialty restaurants be cancelled too.
  13. I'm considering bidding on the Grand Suite for our Adventure cruise. Can anyone who has stayed in one tell me the pro's and con's of the suite, mainly location, comfort and balcony size. Any information would be appreciated.
  14. "I forgot to post this on day one at 1:00 pm. Wondering why so many problems so soon after boarding. Customer service line extended all the way yup to martini bar." The reason for the big line was that they either forgot or were unable to put the AI drink package on our cards, so we had to stand in line to get stickers on our cards.
  15. It's not important. They check your card at the port anyway.
