  1. Way off the subject, but I am in my 70's and was fascinated as I watched some of the dancers on the Virgin cruise near the pool and found their dancing FASCINATING. I have never seen dancing like that. Especially the fluid, almost ballet-like motions combined with other dance styles. I was curious if this type of dancing is what you would commonly find in dance clubs nowadays. All in all, I am fine being a little old lady but if I were young again that's how I would love to dance.
  2. thank you! we just arrived at our hotel in long branch and will pick some up after we relax a bit.
  3. I think 2 is perfect, but I have no problem whatsoever with others on elegant night wearing whatever they please. I have been wearing the same 2 dresses for elegant night for over 30 years and plan to be buried in my favorite of the 2.
  4. I stricly eat low calorie, nutrient dense foods for 6 or 7 months before a cruise in order to lose 10 pounds. That is how I can eat alot on a cruise and still keep my bmi in a respectable range.[ this cruise a higher bmi than ussual as I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroid and cancer meds made me gain weight, mostly fluids] I have a strong feeling that I will still find more than enough incredible food to eat, enough that I will still gain some of that weight back. This has been one of my every other year ritualfor as long as I have been cruising. It hasn't caused negative repercussions as far as I can see. The median age of death of a "high functioning" [hate that term] Autistic is less than 37 years old and I have made it to 70. I have been fighting diseases of old age since I was less than 30 years old, but as my doctor says I "take a licking but still keep ticking." Back to everyone's grousing. I believe I will sill find enough to eat to gain weight during this cruise and am sure that you all will too if you choose.
  5. We are sailing the Panorama on saturday. I know we are allowed to each bring a bottle of wine onboard. None of us like wine. What is a type of wine I could bring that doesn't taste 'winey," if such a thing exists?
  6. I still think it would be a fun way to help carnival out. And they wouldn't have to buy new food. Maybe a dish or 2 left over from the crews cafeteria or an extremely simple and inexpensive treat no longer on the menu that there are supplies for anyway. Or even something cheap and easy they could learn to make if they signed up for it in the carnival cooking classes. Those not interested could hopefully not gripe and complain, like I see so many seem to be enjoying lately, just don't attend. There wouldn't be room for everyone anyway.
  7. I would hope Carnival would give out "I'm a new Carnival Cruise shareholder" lanyards, and SELL "I'm a New Carnival Cruise Shareholder," t-shirts for about $12 which would give them a little profit on them. I can't afford 100 shares, but if the minimum was $300 or less, I would definitely buy. And for snacks, possibly they could serve simple snacks that are no longer on the menu.
  8. If Carnival had this as an event I would most likely attend, and if the minimum ammount of stocks was low enough, I would probably buy. The presenation would have to be awesome and it could potentially help Carnival to survive. I don't think I could afford the 100 stocks neccessary to get cruise credit, not yet, but, as a "Carnival Cheerleader," I think it could really help Carnival. There are those of us who have thought about purchasing some stock, and this might be the little push I need to stop procrastinating. I'm hoping that Carnival will see this and try this out. What do you all think?
  9. On the panorama, does anone know if there are still places other than the lido marketplace to get the made to order omelots? If they are no longer making them in multiple locations, I understand, as it might cause unneccesary extra costs to the cruise line, but if there are still other places to get my omelot it would be nice to know where they are. Also, my 14 year old grandson will be cruising nwith us. He is Autistic and ADHD and failing all his classes. Being Auistic and ADHD myself, I know how to teach him in a way that he will excell. So, we are going to be working on that 2 hours a day. I was telling him that I felt the library would be a good place for him to work and asked him if he would prefer to do his work before or after breakfast. He is a person who learns best while chewing and hand flapping, so he was wondering if he could eat breakfast in the library while working on catching up with and far surpassing his shoolmates.
  10. I've got to try it! 4 of us plan to split one. If the other's find it crazy good they will order more. I am a 'lean diabetic', meaning I am diabetic despite being thin and physically active. My doctor told me I can have one bite of anything, even if it's not a great food for me. so long as I take a 45 minute stroll within 20 minutes of ingestion. That one bite splurge makes my quality of life so good, but I can only do it if there are others to eat the rest because I don't believe in wasting food. I also follow this rule with an occassional bite of bread. This way I never feel deprived and I am allowed to eat my entire escargot appetizer and don't have to share with anyone!
  11. can we give our vouchers to others?
  12. So long as I am paying "Denny's " prices and getting better than "Denny's" food, I'm good. I also hope they lessen room cleaning to once or twice a week. If people want to pay more to get more, there are so many ways they can do that [steakhouse, other pay venues, Havana rooms.'] I, for one, want Carnival to survive. Instead of grousing about Carnival's food being inferior and in a lesser quantity than you are used to eating at home, just stop complaining about Carnival and spend a ridiculous ammount of money on a ridiculously pretentious cruiseline and leave Carnival to those of us who love Carnival's food. I
  13. Are there bread or rolls at the salad bar in the serenity area?
  14. where do we enter the ship at embarkation?
  15. I think the salad bar in the Serenity area looks incredible. Thing is, and I know it's not exactly healthy, but I love a roll or some type of bread with my salad. I have seen pictures of the yummylicouness of their salad bar, but no bread. Is any type of bread included?
  16. My husband's family were all from Oklahoma, Texas, and Georgia.[they've all since passed] Every time we visited and ate breakfast, we were served biscuits and gravy. Every single time we were served them they were delicous, but they were all way different in taste, texture, richness [cream or canned milk] and thickness. We were told they are the best anywhere ad they were all good. I think it's similar to bbq and to red sauce for pasta. Everyones [especially going by region] were crazy different and everyone swore that their's [which had been handed down for generations and all had a 'secret ingredient'] was the best.
  17. I don't get the Cheers package, and only pay for about 3 or 4 drinks per cruise. I tip an extra $5 in cash per drink. I was wondering, though, how do I go about getting my free platinnum drink if I don't want to eat the sea day brunch, just get my drink and run to the Lido deck. Is there a long wait/line or an area where I can simply grab my drink and run?
  18. Does anyone know where muster station a4 is, without having to go look at my cabin door? I would like to do muster as soon as possible
  19. I don't use the loungers by the pool. I am Autistic, and I [personally] can enjoy the loudness and zanyness until I suddenly can't and have to make an exit, with husbands assistance, to a safe, quiet spot. Though I don't use them, I think 15 minutes is way too short of a time for people to grab a burger, a drink, and possibly use the restroom and get back to a lounger. Some are saying to eat before using a lounger but I don't think it's wrong for anyone to eat while in their loungechair, especially with how crowded the eating space is in the Lido Marketplace area. If I were making the decision, I feel that 30 minutes would be a fair time limit.
  20. Yay! How to find out which ones will be on a particular cruise?
  21. I worked for years in "fine" restaurants. Most of them, unless something had spilled through the cloth, we did NOT put down a fresh tablecloth for every seating. We'd flip them over and use them twice. Members in our party often have suppressed immune systems, and it's much less awkward not having a tablecloth, than asking the staff to pull it off to keep the germ count down. Also, going without a waxy chocolate on my pillow and a small basket of randon, cheap toiletries is no big deal to me. My husband misses the topless deck, mostly because he was hoping that was the first step towards a clothing optional deck. I guess I agree because for many people like me, CLOTHES HURT.
