We purchased air tickets through Silversea and can't get seat assignments since the tickets are not paid for by Silversea yet. Any experience as to how far in advance SS pays for air tickets? Since I paid for the air teservations over two months ago, I guess they just want to hold on to my money as along as possible.

Check with your carrier

Checked pricing on Scenic Eclipse. About the same as Silversea except they include excursions. I question whether a 200 passenger ship can be profitable based on both SS and Seabourn going to larger vessels.

Give it a try again. I think what your seeing is that you did not check the box to except the agreement. So go slow and look around for the exception box.
That solved the problem
Thanks

Have been trying to make restaurant reservations for a cruise 120 days in advance. The system does not appear to accept the reservations (getting message "you have not made any reservations yet". Anyone else having the same problem?

Back in the early days of Silversea, there was a photographer on board taking pictures of guests. That was promptly eliminated when passengers complained about privacy.

Any problem getting tables in Atlantiide or Indochine?

We've done several Silversea crossings. Always very relaxing and plenty of activities to take advantage of. Have no experience with Regent or Crystal.

I noticed that a special area for children has been allocated on the Muse. Those that have sailed on the muse, have there been many children on board?

Thinking of booking a cruise on the Muse. I'M a little concerned about some negative reviews regarding the dining venues. Any major difference in the dining experience as compared to the Whisper or the Shadow?

Booked a pre-cruise hotel including private transport from the airport and to the port with Seabourn. Itinerary says gratuities included. Does that mean the drivers don't expect a tip?

We have been sailing on both Seabourn and Silversea since the late 90's. We have never had a bad experience on either one and look forward to every cruise we book. There are some differences, but the overall cruise experience on both are similar. When we book a cruise we look at itinerary offerings by both lines to make a decision.

No need to be concerned about the Sojourn. We sailed on the Sojourn from Japan to Seattle a few months ago and will be sailing on her again in a few weeks, Great ship and great staff.

Just booked the September 21 Alaska cruise. Would like to have any suggestions of "must do" tours by those who have already done the Alaska cruise this year. I imagine some must be booked in advance. Thanks for any suggestions.

Looking to book August 26 Alaska cruise. Was wondering about the transfer from Anchorage to Seward. How long a trip and what type of coach. What other transport options are there.
-
Thinking of booking August 26th Alaska cruise but disappointed to hear the zodiac tours have been cancelled. For those who have taken previous Alaskan cruises and taken one of the Seabourn Alaskan cruises this year, did this cruise stand out compared to previous Alaskan cruises? The itinerary appears to be quite different than the typical Alaskan cruise.

Aboard the Sojourn, we have two individuals who wait in the morning for the Colonnade to open and immediately save their favorite table. They then proceed to Seabuurn Square for a half hour or 45 minutes leaving that table unavailable for others until they return for breakfast. Maybe if that practice was discouraged, it would be easier to find seating without having to "hunt around".

We're presently on the Sojourn off the coast of Japan. I was wondering if others had a problem with the lack of being seated in the Colonade for breakfast and lunch? People have to leave things on the table they selected to avoid others from grabbing their table when they got up to go to the buffet during busy times. Wouldn't it be more practical to have the staff seat people as they enter the room? The other night they had an Italian Market Dinner at the Colonade. We made reservations , but, when we arrived we were just told to "find a table". Not a major deal, but, just think it would be nicer to be handled in a more organized manner.

Hmmm, nothing definitive then. It's not that charging the toothbrush somewhere else isn't possible, it's just a nuisance cluttering up the vanity and shuttling stuff in and out of the bathroom.
I really don't understand the reluctance of ships to provide an outlet in the bathroom. Their excuse is safety, but I'm sure every one of us lives in houses with perfectly legal and safe outlets in the bathroom - our en-suite has three of them. What's their problem? I'd have loved to have been able to bring my water-pic along.
I use my water pik in the bathroom outlet all the time. I use the European outlet and an adapter. Just be sure the water pik is 120/240 volt.

Thanks for the reassurance. Enjoy your trip.

Just was assigned a suite on a guarantee reservation next to the crew stairway on deck 6. Has anyone had any serious noise issue with one of those suites?

I stand corrected about the Seabourn lunch buffet but my point was that Seabourn now has to fill 4 (and soon 5) larger ships and therefore is making changes to appeal to a larger target market. Some of those changes are positive and some negative. Still a great cruise experience.

We cruise on both Seaburn and Silversea and over the years, the product on both has changed in order to deal with increased costs, more competition, and a different target market. For instanace, years ago there was no lunch buffet every day on either line. Now it is standard practice on both., probably because the ships are larger and they need to feed more people at a lower cost and because they want to attract customers from lower cost lines who expect a buffet lunch.
There are several similar examples, but, the bottom line is that I think the product has changed, but, the overall cruise experience has remained at a higher level than other cruise lines.
When does SS pay for air tickets
in Silversea

The reason we can't make seat reservatiosrese is the airline does not assign a "locatorLcode" until the tickets have been paid for. No locator code, no seat assignments.
