  1. I am not making a recommendation or saying it is the best place, but just an observation - the Generali Premium plan will cover preexisting conditions if purchased within 24 hours of final payment, or earlier. This is one of the policies listed on the Trip Insurance Store website.
  2. It would be good if the app would let you see how many towels you have checked out.
  3. First, thank you to Kellie in Texas for notification of the OBC deal yesterday. I have a NextCruise certificate and I had been looking at a suite for particular cruise in 2026. Now the aggravating part. Yesterday the price went up by $490 when they added the $700 OBC. Today the OBC is gone and the price has miraculously dropped by $490 to the previous price. Pricing fun and games. I feel like I have been played, although I did book the cruise since I came out ahead a little bit, and now I have $1,000 OBC (including NextCruise OBC) that I can use to pay for the gratuities and internet service for four people.
  4. Book the rooms as you suggested - one prime member in each cabin. You cannot officially move people later, but on the ship they don't care where anyone sleeps. They will give you a spare key for each room if you ask at guest services. This is common practice. It is only a key, it cannot be used for room charges or to get off and on the ship. The person sleeping in the "wrong" room can use the spare key. Officially you and your husband will be in separate rooms but one can use the extra key to access the room where you are actually sleeping. Onboard charges will still go to the room listed on the booking.
  5. I have been looking at three possible cruises on various dates in 2025 and 2026, each in a grand suite. With this sale they have added $700 OBC, but the price of each suite has gone up by exactly $490. They increased the price for the first two passengers, the price for a third and fourth has stayed exactly the same.
  6. Maybe they are fixing the inequitable problem with the specialty dinners included with Premier - you get two specialty dinners, but a person on a 7 night cruise also gets two specialty dinners even though you are paying more than twice as much for Premier on your 17 night cruise. Shouldn't you get five specialty dinners?
  7. There's really not a lot of things you can do on an Oasis-class ship that you can't do on a Voyager-class or Freedom-class ship. The Oasis-class offers more spaces with places like Central Park, and some more activities like the water show and comedy club, but otherwise they have a lot in common. Flowriders, rock walls, slides, pools, casino, ice rink, royal promenade, theater with shows, specialty restaurants, etc. etc. are available.
  8. The suite concierge has a desk in the suite lounge. They have office hours, they will be present in the lounge for a few hours in the morning, and in the evenings during happy hour. I'm guessing since you have Voom included you are on one of the big ships that takes reservations for the shows. Normally the concierge will have made show reservations for you, but with the late upgrade this might not be the case. If you receive an email from the concierge you can request reservations at CK by email reply. Otherwise on boarding day you can stop by CK and make reservations for as many days as you want to eat there. You only need reservations for dinner. For breakfast you just show up. I don't know the schedule for lunch if they are open every day or only sea days, if at all. If your luggage tags aren't updated in your account then the porters at the pier have luggage tags they can put on your bags.
  9. The NextCruise offer is $200 in OBC or $200 off the price of the cruise. It is possible they gave you $200 off the price of the cruise, although it is not listed in the promotions applied. Yes you'll need to call to find out if they did give you a $200 discount or if they need to add the OBC to your booking.
  10. If this is a cruise for 10-14 nights then the standard deposit is $450 per person, or $900 total. NextCruise reduced deposit of $200 ($100 per person) is only good for non-suite cabins. If you book a suite you have to pay the full deposit, although the $200 is credited towards that deposit. If you purchased a NextCruise certificate for $200 then you should have been charged $700 deposit plus given $200 credit for the NextCruise certificate. But - to use the NextCruise certificate you have to call the number listed on the certificate and make the booking. If you just go online and book a cruise the $200 on the certificate is not applied. It appears you booked a suite for a 10-14 night cruise and either the NextCruise deposit of $200 was not applied correctly, or you did not book per the NextCruise certificate instructions by calling the designated phone number and supplying the certificate number. Edited to add: Based on your $180 gratuity at $18 per night this is a 10 night cruise. The NextCruise bonus OBC for JS for 10+ nights is $200, not $100. But if you did not supply the certificate number when booking that would explain why the OBC is not showing up.
  11. You should bid at least the minimum bid to have any chance of winning it.
  12. For what it's worth I have been on Freedom of the Seas in a balcony cabin directly under one of the cantilever hot tubs and we heard nothing, no noise from above.
  13. It is more complicated than that. There can be a whole cascading string of cabins involved in bidding. While you are bidding to move up to a bigger suite someone else is bidding to move up to your panoramic suite. So while your bid for the bigger suite could be the highest bid, it's possible that the bids for your panoramic suite are really low and they can make more money by accepting a lower bid from someone else whose cabin is attracting higher bids. This is one reason why you can bid on cabins even though it appears there aren't any cabins of that type available - because if someone moves up their cabin becomes available for someone else.
  14. What did you do in Bonaire and Aruba? Did you go to the ice show?
  15. There are two categories for spending on kids' Seapass cards. One is for the arcade, and the other is for everything else. There is an automatic $50 per day limit for the arcade. You can adjust that higher or lower. It is a daily limit, not per cruise. For all other spending on the Seapass card you can turn it off to prevent any spending, or place a limit. I am not sure if it is a daily limit or a total credit limit. You can disallow all spending during your online cruise check-in. If you want to place a limit you need to visit guest services.
  16. If your cruise is canceled due to a worldwide event your money will be refunded. Book the cruise and prepare the same as you would for any vacation.
  17. You can calculate your break-even number, but then you're going to have to hit that number every single day for 14 days. Can you keep up with that? It will become a chore after a while. If you buy the package it might not be to save money so much as it is to have the peace of mind to just order whatever you want whenever you want without thinking about the additional cost.
  18. I had paid for an internet package using OBC. Somehow when I made my final cruise payment a big chunk of my OBC was deleted and made it look like my internet package had a balance due. I was worried they'd cancel the package I had bought at a decent price. I had to call and make them figure out the OBC issue and put it back, and then I was able to pay off the balance owed.
  19. Yes it will be charged. The only reason to buy credits in advance is for the discount. Otherwise there is no need to buy in advance. Recently I have seen people report disappointment at the number of arcade games that are out of order and they ask for their money back for the credits they purchased. Just a heads up, maybe it's not worth it to purchase in advance, and just ask guest services to place a limit on the kids' arcade purchases.
  20. Wait, finish the story! Did you still get the $600 in free play, or did they kick you off the ship at the next port for being an imposter?
  21. Another option is to purchase regular travel insurance that has the medical coverage you want, but don't insure the entire cost of the trip. This reduces the cost of the policy but does not reduce the medical care and evacuation coverage limits. For example I buy a policy but instead of insuring the trip for the actual cost of $4,000 I will insure it for $500. The insurance costs a lot less and the medical coverage is exactly the same. The only thing you lose is the reimbursement if you have to cancel your trip. I would insure for $1 but the cost for this policy is the same for $1 to $500 of coverage (and the same for $501 to $1,000, etc.) Edited to add: Since you are not covering the cost of the cruise for cancelation reasons you can wait to buy the policy until a few days before you leave.
  22. No, my point is that people in the comments are saying that Royal Caribbean should not have been sued because it was not their excursion, and I am saying this doesn't matter because they are being sued for docking in Roatan despite knowing about the strike, completely unrelated to who sold the excursion. The excursion provider is listed on the suit as a formality, it is a guy who runs tours in Roatan.
  23. It doesn't matter if the excursion was third-party or sold by Royal Caribbean. The contention in the lawsuit is that the ship should not have called on Roatan. It has nothing to do with who sold the excursion. Obviously an "experienced diver" (or any rational adult with common sense) should not have dove into water where he cannot see the bottom. It is clear where the negligence rests in this case.
  24. Some things you will do differently with a grand suite on Oasis class: Don't buy an Internet package, each person in the suite gets a Voom package. Don't worry about booking shows, the suite concierge will book shows for you. Let them know if you have any scheduling requests. Ask your concierge to book dinners for you in advance, both specialty dining and Coastal Kitchen reservations. Anything you would go to guest services for, go to your concierge instead. No need to wait in line, the concierge is a member of the guest services team. We enjoy getting together in the suite lounge before dinner for a drink and hors d'oeuvres. And/or drinks and dessert after dinner before the show.
  25. If the cruise is canceled due to a hurricane you will get a full refund from the cruise line, not from insurance. Your travel insurance policy would reimburse you for nonrefundable hotel bookings. If the cruise line cancels due to the hurricane it's likely the airlines will cancel flights too and give you a refund. The most expensive insurance loss you can have is if the cruise does sail but you find it impossible to travel to the port city due to the hurricane. If you are unable to travel for a covered reason then your insurance will reimburse you for the cost of the cruise. However, different policies have different requirements to qualify as a covered reason. Also know that you have to buy insurance before a storm is "foreseeable"; once it has a name it is a foreseeable event and therefore cannot be insured.
