  1. We are considering the 3/29/2020 seven day Bahamas cruise on the Anthem. We did the Canada / New England cruise on this ship in the fall and had a great time. This particular cruise leaves Port Liberte 2 weeks before Easter. Not that we don't love kids but we are concerned that because of the proximity to Easter and Spring Break that the ship will be carrying a larger amount of children than usual. Also children under 12 years old will be sailing free. I am aware that Royal Caribbean markets itself as a family cruise experience and I expect there to be children on board. I am wondering however if this particular week would be one to avoid. Any opinions or comments?
  2. We are sailing on the Koningsdam in March. We have not been on HAL since the 90's. We sail on Celebrity frequently and always get specialty dining reservations, internet and sometimes upgrade a drink package. On Celebrity what works for us is to upgrade the drink package and get internet before we sail and arrange for specialty dining onboard. Normally we get shore excursions away from the ship and if we use Celebrity excursions we book them on the ship. Also Celebrity will send various email promotions offering discounts for these types of purchases.I was wondering what works best on HAL with regards to the timing of purchases. Also I have not yet received any emails offering discounts on onboard purchases. Any advice would be appreciated
  3. Thanks for the info. Ultimately we decided not to book this cruise but one on Holland America. It was a difficult choice but we felt that at this time she would be better off on the Koningsdam. Enjoy your upcoming cruise.
  4. We are considering a March 2019 Caribbean cruise on the Koningsdam. Our TA has offered us several verandah cabins at pretty good prices. They however are all connecting cabins. I have read some reviews that suggest that they are noisier than the non connecting ones. My wife uses an oxygen concentrator at night which is pretty quiet. It did not cause any problems on our Celebrity cruise in October. While I don't wish to be disturbed by excessive noise next door, I certainly don't want to contribute to anyone else's discomfort. Any thoughts on this matter?
  5. My wife has some mobility issues so we don't always get off the ship. If there is something that does not require a lot of walking we do get off. On this cruise I am seeing a lot of beach visits for us.
  6. My typical sea day would be breakfast, a lecture, the gym, lunch, hang out on deck, some sort of afternoon activity, meet for drinks, listen to some music , dinner and then a show. I'm set. She will be more interested in shopping, playing mahjong, a movie, trivia, meeting people etc. From what I have been reading I think she will be fine, at least I hope. I agree with you about Celebrity in that around 3:00PM you hit a period of not so much to do. Thats when I go to the gym and my wife takes a nap.
  7. I have recently posted some questions about Azamara and appreciate all the helpful responses that I have received. I am close to deciding between a caribbean cruise on the Journey or the Celebrity Silhouette or HAL's Koningsdam. I have been on the S class ships many times and have never sailed on Azamara. After carefully reading this board and other reviews I am confident that Azamara is a quality product. I am not however getting a sense of a typical day on Azamara. I know on Celebrity I can read the daily program and pick from different activities or just do nothing at all which is fine. My wife and I often do different things during the day and meet up for lunch, drinks and dinner. I wonder if she will be bored on the Journey. I am still willing to try the Journey but any insight into life on the Journey would be helpful
  8. Deciding between a cruise on the Koningsdam and the Azamara Journey. We have not been on Holland America in over twenty years. We would have the Explore 4 package on HAL so drinks and one night of specialty dining would be covered. Know about gratuities, internet costs, and shore excursions. Is there anything else that is a must do on the Koningsdam that requires a fee.
  9. Deciding on a Caribbean cruise between Azamara and Holland America. Been on many cruises but this would be the first time on Azamara. Know about the free drinks and gratuities included. Anticipate expenses for shore excursions, extra gratuities, upgraded drink package, specialty dining and wifi costs. I am wondering if there is anything on the Journey that is a must to do requiring a fee.
  10. .We are looking at a March sailing on the Journey . We are Elite on Celebrity so I believe we would be Discoverer on Azamara. The Azamara rep told me that we do not get any benefits until our second Azamara cruise. That was not the case on Royal Caribbean. On these boards I have not seen any posts suggesting the second cruise requirement. Can anyone clarify?

    Cabin 6031

We have a hold on cabin 6031 which is a V3 verandah cabin. The cabin next door on the right is an oceanview cabin that is 90% obstructed. Azamara says not to worry , that ours is an unobstructed view. I am thinking that it might be somewhat obstructed if we look to the right. Anyone with experience with this cabin
  12. We are considering a 3/15/19 ten day caribbean cruise on the Serenade of the Sseas. Wondering if we can expect a lot of kids onboard. The majority of spring breaks should be winding down and Easter is not until April 21. Was on a Canada New England cruise on the Anthem in early october this year. The cruise exceeded all our expectations and there were hardly any young people aboard.
  13. We are considering a cruise on the Journey in March 2019. Many reviews mention that the showers in the verandah are very small. The reason I am asking is that my wife has some mobility issues and while not wheel chair bound might have some difficulty in a cramped space. Trying to decide if this would be a reason to not consider this cruise.
