Why the need for security? Since the interviews are by appointment, it is unlikely that a large number of clients would arrive at the same time. When we went for our original interview a number of years ago my husband and I were the only two people in the office, along with one Canadian and one US agent.

So if the US centres are open, then Canada must have already assigned agents there?

Live from Alaska on Ms Zuiderdam - April 2022

So glad to see pickleball on the list 🙂 -
I've seen the wrapping machine at the airport in Montreal. I suppose it's an extra layer of security against theft, and also some protection against flimsy luggage latches or zippers that risk spilling a bag's contents all over the baggage carousel.

A Canadian’s recent quarantine experience on Royal Caribbean
daisy-mae replied to nlcruiser01's topic in Canadian Cruisers
I suppose it helps to be located in the same city as the port, with the option to quarantine at home, should the need arise. -
Just a word of caution. I read somewhere on these boards that the test kits may leak if packed in your checked luggage. It might be best to put them in a carry-on (as long as TSA permits).

Have it All Package now allowed with Casino Offers

Just wondering if payment has to be made immediately (as is the case for the casino booking)? -
When it comes to insurance, the cynic in me is always on the lookout for loopholes that favor the insurer...

Please be honest about your casino offers. I am curious.

Great to hear! That means that there is hope for the rest of us "freeloaders" (ours is not until September so I will keep my fingers crossed...) -
Anyone used ArriveCAN using a computer, not a smartphone?
daisy-mae replied to 12cruise2's topic in Holland America Line
I have yet to use the app, but have been following many of the threads. There is a recent update that now includes a question for cruise ship travel. Also, as I understand it, there will no longer be a need to provide an address for possible quarantine. -
That's good to know. It will take the pressure off the port merchants who are asked to break small bills...

Well this little peanut apologizes again for going off track. In answer to the original question, we are not big gamblers, don't smoke and don't frequent the bars other than to order a refreshment or two when sitting around the pool. Nor do we spend thousands on our cruise fare. Yet early this year we received a casino offer for a free obstructed view cabin on a limited number of sailings. Ours is not to question why..... (And I promise not to start yet another casino cruise thread) -

Almost as bad as the multiple star mariners bragging about all of their perks 🙂 -

I apologize if the expression offended you, and you are correct that I don't know what you are thinking. Perhaps you could explain how a casino cruise might ruin your enjoyment? -

I wouldn't equate a casino offer with a particular social or economic status. Some folks just like a bargain. And depriving oneself of a cruise to avoid mixing with the hoi polloi is somewhat akin to biting off one's nose to spite one's face 🙂 -
We usually keep a few dollars in our pockets in case we make a special request. We once asked a maintenance supervisor if we could have the pickleball court wiped down after it had rained. The crew member who was assigned was surprised, and very pleased, when we handed him a tip after he had finished doing a meticulous job. It's so refreshing to see the reaction when a tip is unexpected (as opposed to the look of expectation that we have experienced when vacationing on land...)

I think it might be a bit of a gamble - if the remaining cabins are not sold before departure, then the price might be closer to the "free" offer, with possibly more perks (but fewer cabins to choose from). For the first time, earlier this year, we booked a "free" casino cruise with a September departure; the taxes, port fees and an amount to be returned in the form of an on-board credit had to be paid up-front, with no refunds allowed. We enquired about an upgrade to a better cabin, but decided against an outlay of even more cash in the event that we might be prevented from sailing (due to current health situation or other unforeseen circumstances).

I just had a quick look at the policy; the following section might require some clarification: "COVID-19 We will pay up to the Policy limit or as specified under each benefit limit in this plan for expenses incurred due to COVID-19. a You have received a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days before your date of departure; and, b You have received or scheduled any subsequent doses of the vaccine if available to you." If two boosters (#3 & #4) are available and the subscriber is eligible, then would coverage be denied if the vaccines were not received? Also: " Coverage will not be provided for: a Any claim incurred if you had any COVID-19 symptoms on or within the 14 days before your date of departure. b Any claim incurred if you were diagnosed with COVID-19 on or within the 30 days before the date of departure." So there is no coverage if the subscriber tests positive a month or less before departure.

I would be content with a happy medium - something between idle waiting and the feeling of being rushed out the door...

You might enjoy the Biodome. It can be reached by metro (subway) and is worth a visit. https://comm-espacepourlavie.ca/experiences/?Codelang=En&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6pOTBhCTARIsAHF23fIYlpyjPp3lK4eTcWvD43EPqqp1_aqNsBgOVnkKWx-DTdOTX5riYbEaAmWQEALw_wcB

What stateroom category?

That's what I am wondering as well.

That's what I did as well - got the gift card page but no mention of a discount. Do you have to continue to purchase for the discount to be applied?

Could you provide a link? I can't find it on the HAL website. Thanks!
