  1. Our experience in the DL and MDR is that they take your card the first night but after that they mostly just ask for cabin #. Occasionally, they bring receipt to sign. This has been going on since they instituted the receipt thing last year, but it's very inconsistent. Other locations where they don't know us, they always ask for our card.
  2. Those "free" D and above drinks are already figured into the budgets. Point is, it's not up to the bartender/waiter who does or doesn't get free drinks.
  3. This last trip on EN a couple of weeks ago, one day I looked at my account and it said I had used a free drink in the Pool Bar. All I'd had that day was a cafe mocha from Cafe Lattetudes and that was on my account already. I mentioned it to the DL concierge that evening and she said so we didnt' have to go stand in line at the CS she would just have the waiter give me my drink without running our number. She couldn't deduct a free drink from the account. That was fine but it wasn't a real concern as i never use all mine. My concern was someone else used my number. What probably happened is a waiter punched in the wrong cabin number for someone, but still. You need to keep an eye on your account on the app.
  4. Or the OP could do a quick search. This has been discussed ad nauseum on more than one thread.
  5. I love how some blame Royal and not the perpetrators lol if someone did hack it. My son is a senior IT manager and will tell you that pretty much every system is hackable. Most have backdoors so even the creators can get in if someone shuts/locks the front door. As the saying goes : That's why we can't have nice things".
  6. It's based on completed cruises, not current ones. There was a time when people would come on here and report that the LA gave them the benefits during the cruise, but that hasn't happened for a while. Mainly because there are so many turning a status each cruise. There used to be a very few on each cruise. The reality is, they want you to go on another cruise to enjoy your new status, which makes perfect business sense.
  7. I doubt Royal would see it his way and not likely he's authorized to do that. He's giving away something that isn't his to give away. Even for our "free" drinks, they always run our card or number and charge them against our balance. BTW, if you tip a lot, you're not getting them for "free", but the bartender is giving away Royal's profits and raising costs.
  8. I have never heard of or seen it charged. We were just on EN a couple of weeks ago with friends who brought a bottle of wine to dinner to share and nothing about corkage fee was ever mentioned. It's an old policy that just doesn't seem to be used anymore.
  9. Pretty much everything is priced in US dollars, even in places such as Mexico that use Pesos, they show both prices and post the exchange rate. Expecting them to work in other currencies would be very difficult for them. Most of the islands base their local currency on the US dollar so the vendors are familiar with it and can easily make change. Honestly, unless it's less than $20-25 we use a credit card with vendors who accept them, which is pretty much everyone except for stands on the street. We also tip on excursions in US dollars.
  10. Are the beds firm? Yes, they are. Are they horribly hard:, No, not to us. I sleep so well on a cruise. We've done 8 cruises since restart and all the beds have been the same, really firm. They can't make everyone happy. We have a sleep number bed at home and I keep my side at 45 and DH keeps his at 50 so hardly as firm, but we do fine.
  11. LOL. I didn't not declare anyone anything, just made an observation. You do realize that no one was named, right? So, no one was harmed in the making of this statement. Touchy about the subject aren't you?
  12. That's how alcoholics think. I can't imagine drinking beer for breakfast. Heck, even on the rare occasion I have a mimosa at brunch, it's after 11 am and most have a lot more oj than champagne. The older I get, the more reflux I get if I eat or drink after 9 pm and I'm hardly alone.
  13. People have already said they'll pay less in tips/gratuities if it goes to once a day, so not necessarily.
  14. We just got off EN two days ago and we were in a JS so we had the twice a day. But, we had friends in an ocean view and they said they had twice per day.
  15. It's by household not per person. Cost is based on level of coverage. We paid 715 for the year but we bought a higher level. Cheaper than buying through RCI per cruise and much better coverage. We're doing 3 cruises this year but we may have other trips also
  16. Insurance exists for a reason. Why should we all buy it if they're going to refund those without it? We have an annual Allianz policy. Well worth the money.
  17. We started out on Royal in GS but moved to JS when they changed the deposit and they became harder to book on the ships we were on. So, we had to book 18 months out for a GS and we usually went on longer cruises which meant RCI had $1800 of our money on each cruise. We now do only JS and book a year out and try to book onboard for the lower deposit.
  18. Just printed ours after waiting for it to load.
  19. It now shows suite class on the app, but the website is being wonky and shows I have 0 cruises booked when in reality, there should be 7 showing. Sigh. ETA, my cruises showed up but the site is reallllllly slow.
  20. Lol. We're on EN on Saturday and menus only go out 8 days for a 12 night cruise. Once we board I know they'll be updated.
  21. I love how people assume everyone has an Apple Phone. We never have. Why not give every option when replying?
  22. I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it works. DH did the same. I'm glad none of my other apps are that screwed up.
  23. App isn't working for either me or DH right now. It wants us to add a cruise, but all our upcoming cruises were listed previously. And, I see no update for it. We just assumed the app is down right now.
