Sounds like you need to do the math. $210 for parking, $$? for tolls, $$ for gas and wear on your vehicle, hassle of driving, long walk possible to lot, ease of being dropped curbside by Uber/limo. Lots to consider.
The Statue will be on the port side heading north, views of nyc will be better on starboard. After you reach just north of SOL, the ship does a u-turn (usually counterclockwise), so the SOL will then be on starboard side on your way out to sea. A rail spot on an upper deck is best. The views of NYC and all the ship and ferry traffic is impressive. Remember to be on deck around 5:30 when the ship passes under the VZ bridge.
Always a peeve for us was having to step over room service trays on the floor in the corridors. Considerate of you to leave it in your room. The attendant should have known enough to remove it. The ships should indicate the preferred method of tray pick up.
I'd say a good way to tell if the rooms are ready is to peek down the corridor. If all the vacs and laundry bags are gone, good chance your cabin is ready.
I read on a FB group that one day there was a singalong to Queen. Wondering if it was a usual weekly event. Also hoped someone could post a few dailies so we could get an idea of the daily activities.
What you want to see in Manhattan will dictate which (NJT or PATH) you should use. Path and NJT wind up a block apart in NYC, but PATH makes numerous stops within Manhattan. If you want to be adventurous in Manhattan and wish to try your luck on the NYC subway, check the connections with PATH and NYC. One will bring you closer to certain subway lines than the other.
There will always be a parking spot. However, I did pass the lots last Sunday and all the overflow lots were being used. May get better when eclipse repositions.
Regarding the port area: it appears a lot of $$$ was spent on upgrades/improvements recently. However, from looking at the area on the Nassau web cam, it appears that a large area is still not opened. Reason?
Thinking about this. Scheduled docking time 1pm. Realistically, won't be off the ship until 1:15 the earliest. 15 to 20 min bus ride over. That only gives us about 3 hours at the Center. Not much time.
Is there anything else worthwhile at PC? This may be another stay-on- the - ship port.
Our Symphony OTS stops at PC for a few hours. We'd like to tour the space center. Ship excursion or is there transportation available from PC to the Space center?
