  1. This must be a bad one coming. I'd bet the two ships there now will be leaving a little earlier than planned.
  2. Looks like they are temporarily removing the walkways in anticipation of the hurricane.
  3. Sounds like you need to do the math. $210 for parking, $$? for tolls, $$ for gas and wear on your vehicle, hassle of driving, long walk possible to lot, ease of being dropped curbside by Uber/limo. Lots to consider.
  4. You are correct. Escalator is fastest, there may be a line for an elevator (only 2, very slow). Short, level walk to gangway. You do board on deck 5.
  5. Can you elaborate as to why the pig swim was really bad? Also, can we assume it was a ship excursion?
  6. So passengers can see the SOL and lower Manhattan up close. Trust me, y9u get a better view. It's worth the extra time.
  7. The Statue will be on the port side heading north, views of nyc will be better on starboard. After you reach just north of SOL, the ship does a u-turn (usually counterclockwise), so the SOL will then be on starboard side on your way out to sea. A rail spot on an upper deck is best. The views of NYC and all the ship and ferry traffic is impressive. Remember to be on deck around 5:30 when the ship passes under the VZ bridge.
  8. That's what someone posted. Now, I'm not sure that it just wasn't a spur of the moment thing the passengers themselves started. We'll see.
  9. Always a peeve for us was having to step over room service trays on the floor in the corridors. Considerate of you to leave it in your room. The attendant should have known enough to remove it. The ships should indicate the preferred method of tray pick up.
  10. So, I'll assume she's off now. Too bad. She was great.
  11. I'd say a good way to tell if the rooms are ready is to peek down the corridor. If all the vacs and laundry bags are gone, good chance your cabin is ready.
  12. I read on a FB group that one day there was a singalong to Queen. Wondering if it was a usual weekly event. Also hoped someone could post a few dailies so we could get an idea of the daily activities.
  13. Any chance you can post a daily or two when you get a chance?
  14. What you want to see in Manhattan will dictate which (NJT or PATH) you should use. Path and NJT wind up a block apart in NYC, but PATH makes numerous stops within Manhattan. If you want to be adventurous in Manhattan and wish to try your luck on the NYC subway, check the connections with PATH and NYC. One will bring you closer to certain subway lines than the other.
  15. There will always be a parking spot. However, I did pass the lots last Sunday and all the overflow lots were being used. May get better when eclipse repositions.
  16. Yup, possibly. So who anteed up the cash to pay for this. Private investors? Government? What were they thinking?
  17. Regarding the port area: it appears a lot of $$$ was spent on upgrades/improvements recently. However, from looking at the area on the Nassau web cam, it appears that a large area is still not opened. Reason?
  18. Thanks for the update. We keep track of our waiters in luminae. They are the best. And yes, aware of the luggage drop at CL.
  19. If you happened to be in an upper suite, was there a captains lunch? The Summit had one last year. Wondering if the Eclipse does one also.
  20. We sail near the end of June, so we'll probably miss her. Too bad. Nice to see an old face.
  21. Was Moniek an assistant server on Summit Two years ago? If so, great she got a promotion, and hope to see her in a few weeks on Eclipse
  22. You can hand write them or let the porters do it as you drop the bags. But so much easier to have them prepared before you arrive at the terminal,
  23. Thinking about this. Scheduled docking time 1pm. Realistically, won't be off the ship until 1:15 the earliest. 15 to 20 min bus ride over. That only gives us about 3 hours at the Center. Not much time. Is there anything else worthwhile at PC? This may be another stay-on- the - ship port.
  24. Our Symphony OTS stops at PC for a few hours. We'd like to tour the space center. Ship excursion or is there transportation available from PC to the Space center?
