We are on this trip as well. In the description of the voyage It says “TENDER BY ZODIAC” in Longyearbyen on embarkation day. Does anyone know what this refers to? It looks like a port that can handle a docking ship the size of Venture.

I remember that day at Salisbury Plain as well. Learned a thing or two about using a long lens in a zodiac. We had booked last year on the Venture but cancelled when they dropped South Georgia from the trip. We ended up taking Viking in Nov 2023 and we again missed Salisbury. We did land at Grytviken and had a stellar day at Fortuna Bay. They’re a lot more cruises going to Antarctica. Ships have to book their landings and it would seem there is not the same flexibility to adjust to weather as there was in the past. We have enjoyed your posts in the past, and look forward to the ones from this trip. Fingers crossed for your Salisbury landing.

I don’t know if this helps youbut technically we were supposed to go to Montreal, but chose Ottawa because it’s closer. Confirming the sign on the door says walk-ins were accepted 10-12. Thank you, that does help. I will try to call on Monday.

I was using the attached instructions to book an appointment in Montreal. Not really working.

I am having trouble making a reservation for a Visa appointment. I have a document that has a link to a SuperSaas scheduler. I registered but there do not seem to be appointments available. I may not be using it correctly. Has anyone used it successfully? Thank you.

We are also in Southern Ontario and due to a short window I will go to Montreal to drop it off. I would like to have the passports & visa sent back by courier. Does anyone know if the Embassy has a preference on which courier to use? Thank you.

Not sure if they had Paxlovid aboard but based on price for a small bottle of cough medicine it would be expensive. I did the test in the office. Ten minutes and it was done.

Due to developing a cold/cough while on board I decided to get a test for Covid. Seemed like the right thing to do. I neglected to bring a test kit from home so went to Medical. They really had no opinion on whether I should take a test or not. I neglected to bring a test kit from home. My mistake. I was charged $38 for the Antigen test. Not a big deal, but It is not really the way to encourage folks to get a test if they think they may have Covid. Good result though, Negative. Be sure to take a test kit from home.

We are in a similar situation. We have been fortunate to have done this trip on Seabourn Quest in 2016-2017 season. We missed landings, including Salisbury Plain in South Georgia. These were due to weather which we understand can happen. The current situation is different. We have a damaged ship and an entire destination has been removed from the voyage as a result. There is a real possibility of an uncomfortable shortened trip. As South Georgia was a key reason for booking the trip we have decided not to go. The only option offered is a Feb 2024 trip of 36 days which ends up on Cape Verde off the coast of Africa. This is our third try at a Venture trip. Seabourn cancelled Svalbard in 2022 and 2023, and now this. We are somewhat frustrated and our TA is working on a resolution.
