  1. Below are screenshots of the included alcohol before this blew up and from the website today. You’ll see why our worries haven’t been calmed and questions are being asked.

I agree Phil, I just cannot understand why Azamara has done this, surely all they need to do is revert back to the original list. If my memory is correct it took some time for the original lists to be shown on the website after similar discussions on CC some years ago.

All Bonnie has to do is confirm or otherwise that the original list is still in effect. How can included cocktails be made without the necccesary ingredients also included, it’s beyond belief. We are on Seabourn in a few weeks time, and will have none of this nonsense going on, hopefully by the time we sail on AZ in October it will be sorted to everyone’s satisfaction.

  2. Are the menus on the TV or do you have to check out each restaurant. This will be our first time on Azamara as well and we love to check menus. My husband always says I’m the only person he knows who plans food [emoji12]

Also does Azamara have an app with menus and activities?

The menus are on the TV screen under the Dining option, they are available for the MDR and the Speciality restaurants, Aqualina and Prime C. There’s lots of choice and the food is really really good;p

No App on Azamara as of yet, but as RCI are rolling out some IT initiatives fleet wide, who knows if/when Azamara will get one?

  3. I see no sailings for Journey around 1 Sept 2020 the one time we would have wanted for a special reason. I’m presuming a charter scuppering what we had tentatively thought of. There was a reason we wanted it to be Journey :(

You’re right I think Ann, on the list of Cruises we were given on Quest for 2020, there looks like 2 charters on Journey, August 20th to September 5th and September 26th to October 3rd. Both periods shown as sold out.

  4. Should be in the cruise booklet delivered first night. If you want to find out sooner ask any of the maitre ds at the desk at the entrance of Windows on embarking

Maybe different between ships, on our recent Quest cruise, it was neither in the Insider nor The Voyager booklet, both provided at the beginning of the cruise. However all the details were on the speciality booking desks in both the Civitavecchia Terminal and Windows on our cruise.

And if you want to know the Discoveries dining room menu’s in advance, the whole cruise menus are shown in advance on the interactive TV screens in your stateroom.

  5. They have never left the Baltic, I believe you are referring to the Black Sea.

I agree that it is sad to miss out Istanbul.

Oops, should read my own posts before submitting, thanks for correcting me :o Yes,, Black Sea, really looking forward to this cruise, the only port we have been to before is Ephesus, all the others are firsts for us. Just hope there’s no more political upheaval in that area before we go.

  6. From the looks of it, they could just call it Europe Intensive because from May to October that's basically where all 3 ships will be.

And at last they are returning to the Baltic, although sadly they are not calling at Istanbul on the way through the Bosphorus straits.

  7. I agree, it is getting increasingly difficult to get a sunbed in the Spa area unless you get there early in the day. I also notice a number of people go direct there through the gym and often wonder if they’re suite/spa paid guests or not. I have however seen checks made occasionally.

  8. Excellent White Night party last night, started off with the Sparkling Trio, who then joined the Azamara Band with CD Ernest and Assistant CD Meg. Very lively night and the usual buffet. ACD Meg has her own show tonight.

  9. Last night’s show on Quest was excellent, a return to using the Azamara Singers for a show celebrating popular hits 60’s and 70’s and even a bit of popular Opera. It was very well received and wasn’t promoted by 54 Below for a change.

  10. Next big question milk 1st or after, really need a kettle to make decent tea

By necessity onboard, unless you’re getting the tea in a pot from mosaic, it generally arrives from a waiter with a mug of hot, not boiled, water with the teabag on the side. In that case you’re left with milk last! It is possible to train the Mosaic waiter to put the teabag in the pot before it’s delivered, but it’s a bit hit or miss. As to the correct timing of milk first or last, don’t go there, it’s down to personal preference, the Internet is full of the correct opinions. The key secret is to make sure the tea is brewed sufficiently before milk is added.

  11. I do not like the ships tea. it was Twingings but has gone down hill for years. Celebrity's tea is good.

Having done Journey recently and now on Quest, I can confirm it is Twinings English Breakfast on both ships, perfectly acceptable to this Englishman. I do however bring some from home just in case they run out.

Can’t stand the Fields Select version, not proper tea!

  12. Off topic, but on the entertainment theme: I do miss Eric on roller skates!

We went to Ernest Marchains show for the first time last night, he really is a very good singer and entertainer, bodes well for the future.

  13. Just sitting on a sunbed listening to David the Opera singer on Quest. One word to describe this , excellent, streets ahead of our recent Opera experience from 54 Below on Journey. Enhanced by the view of Amalfi from the deck and the choice of popular Opera songs. A truly magical experience.

  14. I agree with Odd, what we saw last night was a vast improvement over our experience on Journey three weeks ago. And Ernest clearly has the makings of a good CD. He managed the Meet and Mingle well, although we didn’t stay to the end as we had another ‘event’ to attend.

It was also very satisfying to go to Prime C last night which still has the old furniture in.

Looking forward to the Opera on deck tonight, it’ll be an interesting comparison to the 54 Below opera we experienced on the Journey in the Cabaret Lounge

  15. We disembarked Quest yesterday, and I have to agree with the poor reviews of the Sparkling Trio. Limited repertoire and the singer was IMO mediocre. I would also rather just hear the trio than adding in all the canned music to accompany them.

We didn’t see any of the other entertainment, but after reading about the poor reception of the “Shorts on Ships” I was surprised to see them performed on at least two evenings.

For our entertainment, we’d just like some free On-Demand movies or better TV options. Pretty sure we are probably one of the few people that care about that

I was wondering why no one from Quest was commenting on the entertainment during the last week, as we join it next Saturday. Just found out it is currently chartered to Desire Cruises so I guess they have been making their own entertainment!

Let’s hope it’s deep cleaned before boarding commences!

  16. Just bought my tickets today on the ACM web site. Still no good description from Azamara as of what to expect from their shore-ex, which is priced fairly high. I have to pick up the tickets in Rue Grimaldi, but that is not a big inconvenience. Just thought I would let you know that it is not too late to puchase tickets online. :D

Hi Oddjob, which grandstand did you manage to get? I’m in the Anthony Noges, grandstand V on both Sat and Sun

  17. A thoroughly balanced review Ann, as you know, we were only on your first cruise so haven’t experienced the new furniture in Aqualina yet. We join the Quest on Saturday, and I’m not aware of any changes to their furniture, if not, I Look forward to the ‘old’ style!

Agree that the staff interacti9ns and the food and service make the cruise enjoyable, like you I found the entertainment very poor, with the exception of Eric’s show which was wonderful. I expect we may be experiencing the short plays next week, that’ll be interesting.

We loved the Borneo cruise, lots of great experiences on both ships and private tours and we were able to cap the cruise off with a trip to Angkor Wat after the cruise which was simply stunning. My only caveat being never to fly Air Asia again!

  18. If hubby (or you!) is into cars then a trip out to the Ferrari Museum at Marinello from Ravenna is a must. The mosaics in Ravenna itself are spectacular too.

Do a bit of research on the travel to Taormina I didn't find a wealth of taxis when I have been there.

    Phil

I agree Phil, I did the Ferrari museum tour while Rose, Liz and Malc did Ravenna when we were last there on Az. If you’re a car buff, the Ferrari museum is a must.

  19. Is it a good idea to book the specialty restaurants before the cruise starts? I don't know if this is even possible.

    Thanks

It’s only possible to book after you’ve checked in, sometimes there’s a speciality desk in the Cruise Terminal, otherwise there will be one as you board, and there is always one in Windows.

  20. Last night on Journey, Magic City Opera performed Carmen in English, which was well received. Sadly, we are leaving Journey today but are back on the Quest in 4 weeks so it will be interesting to see how the new entertainment has evolved there.

  21. Great new show by Eric de Gray last night with a new ending. Performed some great duets with ACD’s Alicia and Stephen and superb Phantom performance with one of the onboard opera singers

  22. A real breath of fresh air tonight on Journey, we had an excellent Australian/Spanish comedian, Simon Palomares. He performed in the 54 Below spot and was so good we watched his show twice, mainly because we missed the first 15 minutes of the first one, but decided to watch the whole of the second one as well as he was so good. Hopefully we will see more shows like this and less of those we have endured so far.
