  1. Just because we are blessed to be able to go on a vacation does not mean we give up the right to be wise with our dollars and scrutinize every purchase, including that vacation. And the lobster is not free, it is paid for in the cruise fare.
  2. Horses for courses. Live and let live. Every time there is an internet thread we have to hear from the peanut gallery who love to let everyone know they don't use the internet on a cruise.
  3. Attend the fun ashore fun aboard talk on your next cruise.
  4. Not supposed to have any open food or drinks of any kind. They usually don't say anything but they could make you pour it out.
  5. it is crossed out meaning it is already done...
  6. Went on a Halloween cruise one year pre-Covid on Sunshine. It was fantastic. Costume party in the atrium was one activity I remember. Everyone dressed up in their costumes for photos around the ship. Very fun. Going this year on a Disney cruise.
  7. I think we've discovered the key to Carnival's profitability. Stop letting John make people's cruises SPECIAL!
  8. The priority line at the pier or the priority line at guest services onboard? On Sunshine, the priority line at guest services still said Faster to the Fun, Platinum, and Diamond.
  9. I reject the notion that you have to have a solution to be able to recognize something isn't working.
  10. How much is it now? And is it a real BLT or a turkey BLT?
  11. The stock hasn't been this low since the Carnival Ecstasy was the new ship in the fleet. She is due to be retired in about 10 days.
  12. Good point. Speaking for myself at least, I lived high on the hog the cruises I had COVID OBC to blow. But since then I've spent like I did before. So at least for me, I'm not spending any more of my own money onboard than I did before COVID. Everyone's different of course, and some may choose to spend on the new room service shakedown or whatever. But I'm not sure that cutting cabin rates means more onboard spend. At least, the quarterly results don't appear to be showing that yet.
  13. I'm not a financial advisor, I just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. But I'd say that Carnival's latest strategy of a race to the bottom to sell cabins as cheap as possible and stretch the crew as thin as possible and cut every amenity they can is not working.
  14. https://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/carnival-corporation-plc-provides-third-quarter-2022-business-update-2022-09-30 $770M loss for the quarter. Stock may hit all-time low. Time will tell.
  15. Personally if it's for work I'd just take vacation time and not deal with the frustration that is Carnival's lackluster internet. It is possible to buy Value and try it out, and if you need Premium you can upgrade and pay the difference. Or, visit Guest Services and cancel the purchase altogether.
  16. I'm only 195 days away from being Diamond, I'm staying right where I am! And by the way - McDonald's charges for sandwiches too! So the grass isn't always greener!
  17. They said they were going to turn a profit over 6 months ago, didn't happen, they are trying to cut amenities to the bone but that is forcing prices down which is forcing deeper cuts which is a vicious cycle.
  18. The obvious answer is a gladiator-style fight on Lido to determine the worthy owner.
  19. It's expensive because it is such a limited resource they're trying to limit how many people sign up for it. Even still, Carnival is 5 years behind their competitors when it comes to their onboard internet.
  20. I agree with @staceyglow I'd say they do so few they don't have a standard menu like they do with 5 day cruises.
  21. The prices go up Oct 1 FYI...I am not sure what the rate will be then...
  22. yes you do need to eat in the steakhouse.
  23. Roulette had 000 on Sunshine right after the restart (and maybe before the restart as well) but before they changed out the tables for the 50th birthday ones. It's back to 0 and 00 now. I doubt they'll go back to 000 after the 50th celebration is over.
  24. As I recall they had to cut 5 feet off the Sensation so she'd fit under the bridge in Tampa... 😉
