  1. Former Port of Baltimore Director William Doyle told Maritime Executive clearing of the channel debris will be faster than most people could imagine thanks to the availability of the private sector resources. https://www.maritime-executive.com/article/bridge-s-weight-is-pinning-container-ship-dali-to-the-bottom
  2. I honestly wouldn’t take a bus from Baltimore to Norfolk. It’s almost 2 hours to Locust Point for me. And then having to jump on a bus. I’ve told my friends if Royal switches to Norfolk I’m cancelling my cabin. It’s over 5 hours to drive to Norfolk for a five day cruise to Bermuda. I’ll go another time.
  3. People are calling Royal already? Sheesh. The only people who should even be concerned in this moment or near future are really the people on a Baltimore sailing now. I’m with you- I don’t believe I’ll be sailing end of September and really…I’ll survive. My brother lives in Baltimore. I have been across this bridge numerous times on my way to Annapolis. I was excited to sail under this bridge end of summer. I am more concerned about the loss of life, the economic ramifications from loss of jobs at the Port, not being able to move hazardous waste, import/export of cars, etc. I’d say cruising is at the bottom of the importance at the moment to those people who are calling!
  4. Man, some of the people in this thread act as if Carnival can do no wrong and are going to be personally affected if people can a partial refund. I’m shocked they didn’t tell them to stay in their wet rooms and offer them a $30 credit for the inconvenience.
  5. Oh it’s a big thing. I was in Bergen/Oslo/other parts of Norway in the fjord towns last fall by land/public transport/electric boat stuff. I expressed a fjord safari interest on a Norway forum and the amount of people who downvoted me was unreal. I had no idea. I spoke with a good amount of people who expressed their dislike for the cruise ship industry. And there were tons of signs up everywhere (I think it’s a campaign) about how they don’t want cruise ships and passengers. Norwegians really don’t need cruise ships to survive. And they want them gone.
  6. You can take meclizine for a few days after. I always do. I decided on a ferry last year between Sweden/Finland not to take anything and for the day I got off the ferry (really reminded me of a Carnival cruise ship in size- Glory/Freedom) I kept walking like I was on a boat/felt terrible!
  7. We threw in another for spacious OV balcony and it took about 10 days vs my 5. But there’s still 56 spacious OV balcony on Deck 9 for our sailing. They’re not lowering prices either with about three weeks to sailing.
  8. I just got notified my minimum bid for spacious OV Balcony was accepted. Sailing in 34 days.
  9. I know that. But if someone drinks double espresso 2x a day they will need two cards on a 7 day cruise.
  10. I guess my question was do they support the alternative milk with the card or do they charge on top of the card for it? Thx for the info on double expresso.
  11. With alternative milk selections? And do they count a double espresso as one or two drinks? Just trying to decide whether the other person needs to get it too.
  12. I’m wearing dark dressy jeans with a light sweater/cardigan in Alaska for dinners.
  13. I did Norway in September by land with small electric boats in the fjords. Only way there I would do it. They’re quiet and magnificent. Norwegian people loathe cruise ships. I’ve been told once you do Norway first Alaska will see small/not as wondrous. I’ll know next month I guess! with kids I’d probably do Alaska.
  14. I’m guessing kind of how I’ve dressed on an East Coast winter this year (40’s-50’s during the day a lot) is what I should plan to wear in Alaska for my Brilliance April 30-May 7 cruise?
  15. I used to love cruising but once I started traveling to countries for longer periods of time I became uninterested. Cruising is good if you want a taste but 8-10 hours in a port isn’t really seeing the country. I’m doing an Alaska cruise because it’s easiest with a large family/friend group. I did a Norway/Sweden/Finland land trip this past fall and while a cruise would have gotten me in more fjords then the ones I saw myself…I would have missed out on the incredible culture and sights I normally wouldn’t see on a cruise.
  16. We will be on the second Brilliance sailing out of Vancouver end of April. What do they typically keep temps on the ship at in Alaska? Or has anyone been on an early Alaska season sailing who can comment on ship temps? Normally this isn’t a concern on any cruise I’ve ever been on but I have multiple people asking if they’ll be too hot in sweaters onboard. I saw coastal temps in Alaska will be 40-55 that time of year so I imagine they’ll be wearing sweaters off the ship.
  17. I am very worried about the menus as I have food allergies and I only eat poultry. But some of the poultry options have the things I’m allergic to on it. 🤦🏼‍♀️😭🤣
  18. My guess it’s just poor website management as I’m still missing Day 6 in my cruise details.
  19. Hi. I’m traveling with a total of 11 people split between six cabins. I have everyone linked to do reservations but it won’t allow me to do more than eight people. Do I need to call Royal or is it just easier the first night to let the Dining Staff know we all have a say 8 pm time in two reservations but want to be seated together? thanks!
  20. I’m trying to figure out how the app has missing days for MTD
