  1. Putting aside the debate of whether mask wearing on board is needed or not needed, P&O really need to make the rules (and any potential consequences) absolutely crystal clear to passengers and crew before and during each cruise and not deviate unless circumstances dictate…… it is like the dress code - not always enforced if a passenger challenges the rules (seen that happen so many times).
  2. No words……… but am thinking of you. Sending a hug. Gill x
  3. You are nearly there Sarah…! Hope all goes well with your Mum and Dad’s tests and then have a truly fantastic cruise. The first one is always so very magical. Bon Voyage……. Gill x
  4. Dreadful thunderstorms overnight here in Dorset between 2200 and 0230. Dog was terrified. Not much sleep for either of us. Hope everyone ok.
  5. Korcula is beautiful and one of my favourite places to visit. All very walkable from the ship with its cobbled streets and alleyways (at least 7 or 8 years ago since I was there tho). Lovely places to eat ashore too. Enjoy. Haven't been to the other ports you mention.
  6. Absolutely. Make sure you have some EWs (elasticated waist) for last few days! 🤣
  7. So sorry to hear you have tested positive. Hopefully only mild for you both. Take care. Gill x
  8. Really pleased to hear the inaugural wheelchair outing was successful and that no one was injured in the process. Hopefully your Mum feels better about it all too. I also had some posts disappear yesterday…. Not long to go now…….
  9. I remember similar on an Aurora cruise when William and Kate got married. We had a special dinner that night, we all stood to toast the happy couple with a free glass of bubbly and a slice of “wedding cake”. It was lovely. I also recall one year when a captain tried to remove the National Anthem at the end of the Sunday service as he said some passengers were not British or didn’t approve of the monarchy. It was only missing for one week….🤣

    Worried

Totally agree as I’ve had wine slopped on me on a formal night as people passed by. Plus I agree about the danger of broken glass.
  11. The site looked like it crashed twice around lunchtime as quite a few posts disappeared……..I imagine they just took it back to just before the problem and posts that were made around that time fell overboard….. A holiday is what you make it and I just know you will enjoy every moment. Gill x
  12. Quite a few posts disappeared when site crashed. I assume they had to reset it……
  13. So unless I am being extremely thick ( and that is not beyond the realms of possibility) the day we leave the UK to travel to the EU, our passports must be no older than 10 years from the date of issue - regardless of expiry date potentially being 9 months later.
  14. I must admit that was my understanding, but it has got very muddled just recently so best to check and double check if going away close to the 10 year anniversary of issue.
  15. Totally agree. I also try to make sure my punctuation is correct on texts too.
  16. So so sorry to hear about your Mum’s fall as I know how much you have all been looking forward to this cruise….. hopefully you can all still thoroughly enjoy your cruise with just minor adjustments. Make sure you inform travel insurance company of what has happened just so it remains valid. Sending hugs.
  17. Your daughters look like delightful girls and I loved seeing them all dressed up for dinner. Its a shame you didn’t enjoy the food as the menu choices looked good most of the time and I’m sure infinitely better than doing the cooking yourself at home!. Hope you have recovered and are all now looking forward to the next cruise. Thanks for taking the time to Blog.
  18. My feeling from doing several world cruises on Aurora is that they do not make so much money from the bar takings on the long cruises. When you are on board for 100 nights you have to pace yourself. Therefore would P&O be more than happy to restrict themselves to the shorter cruises where people spend more in the bars and speciality restaurants? I suspect the answer is most certainly - yes.
  19. Your boy still seems to be enjoying himself with cone on and great video. When Freddie had to wear the cone of shame he just sat there staring at the floor….. A pitiful sight!
  20. Me too. It’s always a worry when regular posters disappear. I also hope Jane (Beckett) is ok too.
  21. I much prefer outside or balcony cabins but I have had an inside cabin twice on Aurora and found I got the best night’s sleep in there! An alarm clock or phone alert is a must as it is very easy to oversleep with darkness. Tea lights are a very good idea and one I’d not thought of…..
  22. Looking forward to reading your blog as and when you can post. Gorgeous day for starting a cruise. I hope you all have a wonderful time.
  23. A little Easter Day trip for her……
  24. Me also Wowzz……not the souvenir you wanted to come home with I’m sure……
  25. Have a really lovely time on board Britannia and enjoy sampling all the cocktails and the delicious food (without the preparation and washing up).
