  1. @Adawn47 what wonderful news to wake up to. I’m so pleased to read that Frank is home. I imagine you will be feeling very relieved but shattered. Look after yourself.
  2. @Presto2 Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy getting away from the awful weather here 😀
  3. @Selbourne - I love seeing them as I decide what I would eat (today’s choice would be the chicken starter and the goan curry for mains) and I then sadly realise I only have soup to heat up for my tea! 🤣
  4. Have a great cruise. It is not silly to feel “unsure”. I think many of us do before a cruise, especially if different to the norm. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts, both good and bad, as I’m on her for the first time in early June. Bon Voyage!
  5. And me too Avril. You and Frank are in my thoughts. X
  6. Loving the reports from your cruise. I have a friend on board so it’s great to get up to date info on how it’s all going. When I spoke to her on Sunday when you were in Madeira she didn’t know what was on the menu that night in the MDR so I was able to read it out to her from your post. Made us laugh that I knew more than her!
  7. @Peanut006 great news. So pleased to read the news about your mammogram result and also that your gorgeous dog is doing so well. @Adawn47 Just so much for you to process at the moment and the mind goes into overdrive as to all the “what ifs”…… As everyone else has said, we are all here for you to let of steam whenever you feel like it. Sending hugs - as you can never have too many of those!
  8. I agree Harry. But, I think the danger is that by lowering the dress code, standards will slip even further and P&O then has to have the 🎾🎾 to turn those away wearing inappropriate clothing for dinner. But - one persons idea of smart casual might be a onesie or pyjamas. Where do they draw the line. I honestly don’t know what the answer is.
  9. Oh no. I’m so sorry to hear that. What a great shame. I hope she recovers swiftly.
  10. SO annoying and I’m sure it doesn’t do your blood pressure much good. Hoping you get the phone call soon. 🤞
  11. Hope the “red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning” (not sure if it is one shepherd or multiple ones, but I’ve opted for one 🤣) is not an ominous sign! Have a hopefully wonderful calm day at sea.
  12. Well done. I’ve booked to go on Iona as a solo traveller in June. We will both have a great time I’m sure.
  13. Is there no Avomine available at Reception? Might be worth asking.
  14. @mrsgoggins thank you for posting your blog and photos. I enjoyed reading it. I hope the motion of the ocean soon calms. Have a wonderful time.
  15. I travelled solo on Azura pre Covid (been on her twice, but once was with friends). I found the ship absolutely fine but have always found the smaller ships a better experience when travelling alone as you tend to see people again and again. I also found the solo get togethers better attended on Aurora but that may be due to the demographics. I would go again on her for the right cruise.
  16. @Selbourne - so pleased to hear that you and Lady S are safely on board, albeit with a few issues. Could you maybe ask the steward for a second mattress for your wife as opposed to raising the bed (altho I appreciate that doesn’t help the suitcase issue, but the steward can store those for you). Thanks so much for posting an update and enjoy the adventure!
  17. My friend who had 1230 boarding and who got there at 1200 was allowed on straight away…..
  18. Oh dear. A friend is also meant to be boarding at 1230……😢
  19. Hi Michelle, As you say, not the greatest of starts to the year. Hope the chalky deposits are innocuous. I also hope your dog gets on ok. If the worst happens I’ve known a couple of dogs that had an eye removed and they recovered really quickly and got used to their different vision amazingly well. Gill x
  20. Have a wonderful adventure and I am really looking forward to reading all about it as and when you get the time. Bon Voyage. Gill
  21. We had a few hours of horrendous gusts here in Dorset earlier this afternoon, but it has calmed down a bit now. I must admit at one point I feared for the roof! Keep safe everyone.
  22. Thank you for all the fabulous posts on this thread (and thanks @Host Sharon for allowing this to continue) and also all the other informative subjects. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2024 and hope it’ll be a lot better for all those who have had their sadness and troubles in 2023. Finally, thank you all for your virtual friendships. It means a lot. Gill x
  23. Oh Avril, what a stressful time for you both. It sounds like Frank is getting the best care tho. Most of us on here have had support from you both over the years and we are here now whenever or if ever you want to vent. Often writing your feelings down really helps, so we are all here to listen. Sending virtual hugs. Gill x
