  1. Sort of, but not exactly. A Mini-Suite on Princess is laid out like a "regular" cabin on Royal Caribbean (and many other cruise lines) but they are actually larger rooms and with the exception of the two newest ships, have larger balconies. If you compare the interior square footage of a regular cabin on RCCL to a Princess Mini-Suite I'll bet you find that Princess wins, sometimes by a lot. And the best part is that if you catch a decent sale price, the cost is often comparable. Mini-Suites are not at all priced like "suites". And you don't get suite benefits as a result. To us, Princess Mini-Suites are the best bang for the buck cabins among all the mass market cruise lines.

I did actually book our last Princess due to price. You can get some pretty good deals. Actually, you just have to keep an eye out or have someone post the good deals. Majesty has a 5 day sailing for OV for 265.0 pp!

Definitely will get a mini suite though next time.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Much appreciated. I don't stay loyal to anyone. We just prefer certain lines. Took a dear friend on her first cruise last time on Princess. She's hooked!

Now that's fun....taking someone on their first cruise!! It's like taking a child to Disneyland for the first time :D

  2. OP might appreciate the one and only "small ship" in the Princess fleet .... the lovely Pacific Princess, which accommodates only about 670 passengers. The cabin layout is different from the rest of the fleet, and most of the cabins do have loveseats. The minisuites also feel roomier because they are more square-ish.

Actually love the large ships! So much to do. We did find with the Oasis class, the cabins are or seem smaller to accommodate so many people on the ship. Though there's over 6,000 passengers, so many places are spread out of things to do and places to go, seemed like there were less passengers of any ship I've been on.

So if we try another Princess, would have to get the jr suite. Actually would be me and a friend. dh only wants the Royal ships with the flow riders :)

  3. Cabin size/amenities is not our only deciding factor when choosing which cruise to take.

No, but cabin is important to us. It's really the overall pkg. The two ships we went on were an older crowd, even though we're not that young. We were in our mid 40's when we last cruised on Princess. Now 51.

Hated the tiered balconies. People watching over you. We were lucky to have cabins toward the top. We'd have to stick with that as we always choose our cabins.

    Beautiful ships though....

  4. Can you consider returning to Princess? Why not? I think you can. You might even like it this time??

    Tony

We may as I said, I like a little change in the itineraries. I LOVE Royal.

The two main reasons I'm not fond is the cabins and seems to be a little bit older crowd. I'm not that young, but most seemed older than us. Maybe just the ships we went on??

  5. Try booking Mini-Suites on Princess cruises!

Very spacy for two (full couch) and a larger bathroom (a tub/shower combo). :)

Good idea. I like the couch on Royal. Seems maybe then a jr suite equals a regular Royal cabin? The tub is bonus. Don't think I'd use that, but the extra room would be good.

    thanks!

  6. I've cruised on the Crown and Caribbean Princess. Both I didn't like the layout of the cabins. Seemed so small with no sitting room. Bathroom tiny as well. Are all the ships, (larger ones) like this? What I like about Royal is their cabin layouts amongst other things. Seem so much larger and love the glass doors in the showers. A reason why I haven't returned. I like some of their itineraries though. Just curious if I can consider returning to Princess in the future.

    Thanks!

  7. This board is an information exchange platform. The OP asked a question whether something was possible to do or not? Simply answer the questions if you know the answer and wish to answer. Otherwise move on, don't assume what the intention of OPs questions and intent is and start lecturing.

    Amen...

I always pay cash. I'm old school. I wouldn't dare ask a question about tipping here. You get flamed! No one would believe me if I told them I paid cash. I go to customer service, have them removed and collect my envelopes.

  8. Thanks so much for the links and responses :)

I have one more question that may help my decision - regarding formal nights. The more I read and research .... I get the impression on RCL they are really formal on these nights. On our other cruises we always dressed up for supper but never tuxedos or suits for hubby and on Disney and NCL that was totally ok there was a wide range of attire so you couldn't really ever feel over or under dressed.

On the oasis I am to expect two or three nights where hubby has to wear a suit?

    Thanks

    Cara

We went on the Oasis. Loved it so much, getting ready to go on her sister ship in a few weeks. No one is forced to wear suits in any restaurant. Even formal night, it was very mixed. IF he wants to wear a suit, he can, but never expected. n the dining room, you get shorts, jeans, khaki's, .....just a mix of everything.

I wouldn't worry at all about attire, and just go and enjoy yourselves. Just as long as you look nice, you'll be fine.

I think your kids would love the Oasis!

  9. I might just decide to do this on our November cruise. Everyone raves how great it is over there and I know I want to experience it. :)

Good idea. We've sailed over there on private excursions, and it's beautiful. Think we'll go to Cinnamon Bay this time. Since we have to dock at Crown Bay, I just feel better going thru the ship which we rarely do. Anxious to see pics from your trip.
