  1. @CruiseRaider thank you for the news about port side testing and for such a wonderful first day report. You and I have both sailed the Grand many times in the aft cabins. I know you have a good idea of what is “normal’ for her. I am sorry to hear of the excessive noise and vibrations. I do hope this is not constant. Please keep us updated. I’ll be sailing in an aft cabin on her soon (Aloha deck). I love to get my miles in walking the promenade in the early morning. If anyone sailing now happens to notice would you please let me know if masking is a must while walking on the promenade? Thank you to all onboard for taking time from your holiday to share with us all.
  2. Bon voyage @CruiseRaider! Did you happen to notice any on site testing available for people who didn’t get their test results in time?
  3. @Level sixNo I haven’t paid my credit bill yet. My statement hasn’t even closed. They literally cancelled the day after final payment date. I have a window here as do all the Hawaii cruisers on my sailing to simply dispute the charge. It is in my best interests to keep my $18k in my bank account instead of Princesses. If they ban me for it that’s okay by me. I called my credit card company to discuss my options and let them know I’m still trying to work this out with Princess so I can be guaranteed a speedy refund (must be before my cc payment is due of course). They can’t seem to do that. I don’t think I’ve missed any reason not to dispute the charges but I wanted to throw it out here to see other points of view.
  4. My Hawaii cruise was cancelled also. I made final payment sept 8th and it was cancelled sept 9th. Has anyone else thought about just dispute charge with your credit card? I called mine today and they said it was fine to do so especially given the long wait times for refunds. My statement hasn’t even closed yet. I have 60 days to dispute but it only makes sense to do so before my credit card balance is due. I can dispute it and never have to pay the money to visa. Then visa is the one waiting for Princess to “get around to it”. They can better afford to have their money tied up than I can. Does anyone see a downside to this?
  5. The Grand suite on the Grand Princess has a door to the bedroom. It also has a jetted hot tub on the beautiful very private balcony. We sailed 10 days in this suite. 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV
  6. How do you know that? When I sailed the majestic July 25 this year multiple crew told me 100% were vaccinated. There were a dozen still in isolation waiting to finish their 14 days post vaccine.
  7. I did a mock booking and this seems to be free. But it didn’t explicitly say so. Do you know if the rapid antigen test is free?
  8. No that is not all of it. And it is very limited if any that are allowed to book. on our July 25 sailing there were only 3 exemptions. Princess highly discourages unvaccinated exemptions. from Princess FAQs https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/us-cruises/and UPDATED: If I have been given special accommodation to board due to a medical or religious exemption preventing me from being vaccinated against COVID-19, how will our cruise experience differ from guests who are fully vaccinated? In accordance with health authority directives, all unvaccinated guests must follow these COVID-19 protocols: show proof of a negative pre-travel COVID-19 Rt-PCR test performed 2 days prior to sailing have an embarkation day COVID-19 test performed at the terminal and a COVID-19 test performed prior to disembarkation (if the cruise is longer than 4 days), as per health authority requirements. We must also provide testing information and reporting to the destinations we visit. To cover the cost of testing and administration, we have set a charge of US$150, per person, which will be assessed to your onboard account if you are cleared to sail. wear a face mask at all times indoors. A face mask will be required during embarkation and disembarkation, spa treatments, approved shore excursions, medical center visits, and any indoor locations in crowded settings. Exceptions include temporarily, while eating and drinking, when inside your own stateroom or balcony, when performing high-activity exercise outdoors, outdoors when physical distancing of 3 ft (1 meter) can be maintained, and when in the pool maintain physical distancing of 3 ft (1 meter) from other people outside your travel group, including at dining locations guests will only be permitted to go ashore through shore excursions sold by or through Princess using tour operators who comply with our COVID-19 protocols. Self-exploration or participation in shore excursions not sold through or operated by Princess will not be permitted. If you refuse to be tested or screened, or to follow the COVID-19 Protocols, you will be denied boarding and no refund or credit will be issued. Anyone who doesn’t comply with the onboard public health measures may be disembarked at the first available opportunity. Other consequences could include being denied service, required stateroom isolation and being banned from sailing in the future. If you are non-compliant, no refund of the cruise fare for unused cruise days or travel expenses (if flying home) will be covered. If your travel party is impacted and/or they are required or voluntarily choose to leave with you, the same policies will apply to them: there will be no refund of cruise fare for unused cruise days or coverage of travel expenses home. Given the above CDC directives for unvaccinated guests, if you feel you need to change your plans, please refer to our Book with Confidencepolicy for cancellation options.
  9. I saw those sailings a few weeks ago and was very tempted. I’ve been wanting to try viking for a long time now. However they rarely sail out of the west coast and SF in particular. I decided not to move over to viking for Hawaii this December since I’m not convinced they will actually sail. Then I’d have a bunch of money tied up waiting for a refund as there is nothing else they offer that I’d take right now.
  10. Thanks! I thought I had clicked everything but I must have missed that one through my tears!
  11. The Ruby had 2 sailings in December to Hawaii which are now cancelled. So now the Ruby is doing nothing for the entire month. I know sometimes people on these boards seem to get information about upcoming itineraries before my PVP does (or is willing/able to admit). Since my Dec 7 sailing is gone I’m wondering if I should book the Nov 27 Mexico trip or will there be new December sailings on the Ruby? If anyone gets wind I’d really appreciate if you’d post. thanks!
  12. here you go. The mask info hasn’t changed but Princess updated the FAQs yesterday with other things you should look at. https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/us-cruises/ We recommend guests wash or replace their mask daily and choose a good quality double-layer cloth or medical-grade mask. Please note that visors and face shields will not be accepted as a substitute for a face mask.
  13. Thanks to all on board who are contributing to this live from. It’s great to see the real time adaptations to protocols as they happen. @travelers07 and @coastcat I agree completely with your comments regarding “just for one” or “just you” greetings. I was solo on the first July sailing and tried to joke with a “it’ll be the ‘just me’ show aaaaaalll week” and they stopped asking me. But at this point someone should quietly take the head waiter aside and gently let them know it might be better if they greeted with “would you like to share a table?” Or perhaps just “good afternoon”. I know the very last thing any crew member wants to do is something that diminishes our experience in any way. It would be a kindness to let them know.
  14. You’re welcome. I’m still over the moon happy I went on the July 25th sailing. I am really looking forward to the live from for the September 25th out of LA to Cabo sailing. Are you listening @CruiseRaiderlol 🥳
  15. I did mock bookings this morning after clicking the link Princess sent me in my email for my upcoming sail. For a point if reference I live in Modesto Ca. 1. The map on the link showed sites that actually do not test so just looking at the map was misleading (in particular it shows Mountain View Ca and this did not come up as possible test site in the booking process) 2. I picked 5 other sites Suisen, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield and Corona. The closest to me is Sacramento at well over an hour away. Corona is the closest site to San Pedro pier which is 50 miles and in LA traffic lord knows how long it takes. The others I thought I might stop at on the drive down to port and get a rapid antigen test. 3. None of the sites offered the rapid antigen test. I’m driving down to LA for the cruise Tuesday so that means I’d have to spend pretty much all day Monday getting to Sacramento for the test. Not going to happen. 4. Thus is Sept 3rd. All sites let me book as far out as Oct 8th so that part is good. I emailed my PVP to let him know that Quest is not the answer for this issue. I can pay $129 for a rapid (1 hour) antigen test at Covid Clinic a couple of miles from my house. There’s also one within 5 or so miles of San Pedro port. You can make reservations now for any day, any time. I asked him to get me OBC to cover the cost. He said he try.
  16. We did a European land trip several years ago. We stayed in Prague then used a private driver to get to Dresden with a stop in Terezin. It was moving beyond words. We found our guide thru a Rick Steves book. Just do it.
  17. I am 57 days and no boarding group. Yes that was none other than me @Steelers36is quoting. I know what Jan said and I am certain she understood clearly after I kept rephrasing it. She absolutely said those with priority boarding should just show up regardless of boarding group and that they would be boarded as soon as possible. She definitely said those without priority boarding will be asked to wait for their time. My next sailing isn’t until oct 27 out of LA (I’m elite and in a full suite). I’ve sailed with Princess 11 times in a full suite & 5 times as elite not in a suite and they really do give a wonderful priory boarding experience in my opinion. I would expect the priority boarding experience to be just as good as pre pandemic. I hope folks keep posting about their experiences with priority boarding moving forward.
  18. Viking ocean just added a RT LA to HI itinerary for December. Two sailings. They do not normally sail there. I’m booked in December with Princess and this makes me think that port agreements might be further along than I previously thought. This is a new market for viking and it would be unimaginable if they disappointed any new passengers by canceling. And if viking can sail Princess should as well. Yeahhhhhh right so…….. I have a 10 day Mexico sailing with Princess as a back up booked.
  19. Right @cr8tiv1that is what the website says about room stewards. I only asked where your read that stewards were “still being aloof” as I know you’ve followed every live thread from mine on July 25th to this one. From what I experienced and from what I recall from following these threads the stewards’ have been as wonderful as always, behaviors and service paralleling or exceeding precovid. Myself and others have posted that stewards enter our rooms while we are in them. Just wondering if I missed something is all. I know things are in flux and as I’ve got 40 days booked from Oct 27 to Jan 6 I’m simply monitoring changes.
  20. @noclthanks for additional data it certainly clarifies the original graphs. I worked my Stat students hard on labeling and naming their visual displays of data. I marked down any work where it wasn’t completely evident what the data measured. This is why.
  21. I don’t know about the future but I do know on the first day of our July 25th sailing this year Bingo was alive and well in the Vista lounge. Given that they were just ramping up and not everything was “back” it does speak to how important they think bringing back Bingo is lol.
  22. The pax might be from other countries and not North American, but they sail from North America would be one way to interpret Passenger Volume by Region.
  23. COVID-19 Guest Protocols Updated August 20, 2021 Princess' CruiseHealth protocols and procedures have been designed to maximize the health and safety of our guests and crew while delivering a memorable vacation experience. Below are the measures currently planned for the vaccinated cruises sailing from the United States through December 31, 2021. View frequently asked questions for these vaccinated cruises from the United States. From https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/covid-19-guest-protocols/ So no unvaccinated from the US this year. Hopefully the children’s vaccine will be approved soon. I would ask if they are price matching on the replacement cruise. They have been doing that in other cases when bookings have to be changed thru no fault of the pax. It would be reasonable in your case to expect that.
  24. Hi my friend! We had a lot of tuxes and gorgeous floor length gowns on the first formal night around the piazza. It was like I was on the QM2 again lol. Probably just some formal night portraits that were loooooong overdue. Second formal night was definitely a lot less formal. And you looked quite pretty at the Captains party.
