Does anyone realy have a desktop anyone? Yes any PC will work.
I still have two loaded up desktops. Prefer them when editing videos & photo slide shows with music. Everything else, laptop, tablet & phone does the job....

Debbie' date='I agree with you. We were on a couple with very large groups and they were loud!!! So we always check now.Sent from my SM-N950U using Forums mobile app
Curious how you check to see if there are any large groups on the ship. My brother & I are booked on Celebrity Reflection, 11 day southern Caribbean in February....

My brother & I will be doing that same itinerary in February 2019. If you would be so kind, to give us a report your experience on the ship, the ports & any excursions you did....we are cruising to Grand Cayman, Cartagena, Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire in April. No idea what to expect. Would welcome any ideas for tours etc.Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Everything went well for my wife, with the food allergies. Along with the gluten issue, she is allergic to tomatoes and raw onions. There were enough options for her to eat at the lodges. The food was very good. I'm glad we did not purchase the food plan, as we did not spend enough to warrant it. It is very expensive to eat, because everything is flown in.I have booked a cruisetour for late July and also have gluten and other food allergies. I hope you respond to this post and let us all know how you feel about your decision to forgo the food plan option. I would be most curious to hear about your experience! We definitely loved the trip. We did several excursions, the highlight was the airplane ride & landing on top of the glacier. It cost $1,000 for the both of us. We did that while at the Denali lodge.....

We did the land tour/cruise May 24-June 7. Started in Fairbanks, ended in Vancouver. We flew in the night before tour started. After disembarking, we stayed a night at the Stone Hedge B&B near the YVR airport which was very easy to fly out of. The best advice we got was to do the land tour before the cruise.. They were absolutely right.

Are you doing a land tour with your cruise? If so, I would strongly recommend you do the land tour before the cruise. We just came home today from our Princess Alaska land/cruise. I booked most of our excursions about 90 days out. Have a backup plan, as one of our river trips canceled the day before because of low river depth. I also read TripAdvisor & CC reviews on most before I decided on which ones to book.

That sounds much better! You both explained it very well. My backpack will have all the camera stuff & my wife will carry the other personal things. We read the luggage rules on the Princess site two times, but did not quite grasp the small backpack thing. Thanks so much!

We are doing land tour first, 2 nights Fairbanks, 2 nights Denali, 2 Mt McKinley......trying to figure out how to pack for 6 days in a backpack. I also have a camera backpack with camera, lenses etc. I don't understand the limited luggage on the motorcoach. I drive one professionally & I can hold luggage for 56 passengers on a 12 day trip....

I am also wondering what all to bring. Right now it looks like I can squeeze my 100-400, 70-200 & 16-35 with my 7DII in my sling bag. Also have a 7D for back up, along with plenty of batteries & cards. My concern is taking a travel tripod & monopod might be too much to try and pack.I am also ordering a Lens Coat Rain Coat to cover the camera & lens.
We are doing the 6 day land tour first. Someone told me that on the bus excursion history tour from Denali didn't have many times to get off to photo the wildlife. Mostly shoot through the windows on the bus. Has anyone done the land excursions & is there places to get out to take pictures. I hate packing all that equipment to take pictures out of a bus window. We are 2 days each at Fairbanks, Denali & Mt.McKinley. Any thoughts?

Going on Alaska 6 day land, 7 day cruise in May. Trying to decide which lenses to pack with the 7D bodies....Also taking my Manfrotto travel Tripod & Monopod, both with Kirk Ball heads....
I added an Olympus EM-1 Mark 2 to my camera collection. When I tried the 60 fps silent mode, I was blown away. After I reduce this rate down a lot, my in-flight wildlife photos should provide a higher number of great image captures. Bursts of 18 fps during youth basketball games showed that many shots are taken with their eyes shut! The larger sensor makes a difference. Noise is significantly reduced at raised ISO settings. One downside is the larger battery size that doesn't let me use my smaller belt-clip battery pouches.

What a blessing your review has been to us, as well as many other first time Alaska visitors. Thanks for taking all the time involved to put it together. The photos were amazing and all the details with the meal prices were helpful. Like cruisequeen4ever, we were sad to see your journey end. We now have an idea what our trip will be like in May.

Thanks so much for the info. I think we are going to just pay as we go. My wife is gluten free & has allergies to other foods, so we're thinking her choices would be limited & not worth investing in the plan. That older review that you linked to is absolutely amazing & full of information.

Thank you for the advice. From all that we have read, it doesn't seem like a wise choice. If we have a great lunch while out touring, we might not feel like eating a regular dinner entree that night.

Yes the $900 was for 2 people. All they told me was an entree for dinner including coffee or soft drinks. Did not mention anything about appetizers or desserts. Could not find any info about it on the Princess website. Hopefully, I will get a clear definition what the vouchers include before making a decision to purchase.
Thanks for the reply!

We are doing the Alaska 6 day land tour before our cruise in May. When I booked it last year, they offered me the meal plan for $900, which includes breakfast & dinner each day at Fairbanks, Denali & Mt McKinley lodges. I called Princess today & they told me it included vouchers for the meals, but couldn't tell me if we could order any entree off the menu, or were limited to a certain dollar amount. Has anyone else ever purchased the meal plan, and if so, what were your thoughts if it was a reasonable charge, or was it better to just pay for each meal yourself?
Thanks for any help.......
