  1. This might have been answered before, but no time to go back 38 pages...Traveling on Sun (yes YC). Have been upgraded to gold, but still shows my old number. Would hope to show Gold before boarding. Does any of the perks kick in...$50 on board credit etc. I booked w/ casino so got a great rate. How do I go about obtaining Gold status prior to Sunday? Any Help is most appreciated
  2. Yes, there are loungers on the sand 'for the taken' Was there in November last year... crystal clear... hope the same in Sept!
  3. Where are you looking at in Jan Jean?
  4. Let me translate.... they sent me a tex on my phone with specific details of pick up spot/ who will be picking up and when. Should of given my wifes number as I don't carry my cell all the time. Do not have What'sApp. Time Zone: of coarse it depends on time of year, ship etc... just a TIP to be aware of... NCL changes ship time with the port. Therefore no problem. Virgin maintains ship time time and does not change... you could easily be a port runner if you are not aware of the time difference. Sargassum is seasonal, Yes. but as pictures showed earlier of the dark (red) side of it... which we have encountered in Oct several yrs ago; past Nov, there was no seaweed anywhere and it was one of the best beach days we ever had. What a Great Discovery! I hope you get to enjoy soon, and with NO red tide! No knock on Chan, but we loved our visit. PS: we took stroll on beach and came upon a couple who were snow birds from PA, just sitting on beach at their house w couple of dogs... What a Life!
  5. Thankx Monica for recommending and your review. Because of it we decided on Hayhu. We are glad we did! As everyone's previous review, don't underestimate the walk and unfounded anxiety of will there be a cab. There is communication with cabbie in advance. problem my cell phone= work, so on vacation it is not by my side. Also time is different that ship time (Virgin does not change clocks w/ time zone change.) just a reminder. Cabbie was better than great, he and wife were designated drivers for resort (Gabriel and Ruth) Ride is nothing compared to Maya Chan but people we talked to on beach thought it was a Great Adventure. Greeted as previously described but the greatest thing that no one mentioned... the water was sensational... NO seaweed at all... walk forever to get out waist deep. Light waves, cool not hot,not cold temp HEAVEN!!!!
  6. Our second time to Roatan and second time to Infinity. Did everything on our own, booked reservation on line as previously mentioned. Price has gone up ($45/person) since last trip bout 7 yrs ago. Walked out to taxi area... ignoring all tourist hawks, and found a taxi for the day of $50 for both of us. Construction was slight damper/ lil longer walk around construction to get to beach. Once there it was almost non existent. (no noise at All). Pool area is beautiful and since we are 'sea' people only looked! 2 recliners at water front w umbrellas, service was excellent, our server was there whenever we needed, drinks on recliners, went up to table for wings and other appys, which were very good... water is crystal clear... lil too clear for my wife when after seeing bunch of lil fish swim by... 1 foot fish scurries by, good thing she didn't see that. peddlers are an annoyance as one goes by and other is waiting to sell. But they know the meaning of no.. it rain'd about an hour before we planned on leaving. Food drink bill was $45, walked out front to where our driver was waiting. trip is around 25 minutes. Enjoyable Day cut short by a non passing shower.
  7. Thankx Monica! We are heading to CM middle of Nov, and again in March. Been to Chan (we had a great time) so looking at alternative. Exploring for our Nov trip. March we have a group so we are the explorers to plan for the group. Praying for the seaweed gods and a clean beach!!
  8. Thankx Megan, also just binge'd this trip. new to VV but just received a free cruise voucher, decided that we will be looking into a sail... Your review helped me decide. Am a NCL guy and just got off in Feb. because it's a CAS give away will be scouring posts concerning how VV handles players. (yes, kwokpot is the geru! 😉) This will be culture shock for us... VV definitely is a deferent world! Thankx Again and safe travels on your next cruise!
  9. No egg shortage at all... which is surprising with the amount of wings O'S pumps out! Just want to clear the air that despite with all the negative vibes ... really loved this trip. Unusual since went with a large group (50) although really only knew 12'ish. Having additional people takes away from the long wait at Tropicana and finally giving up and going to buffet. If just w/ DW the discussion woulda been bout long wait... instead of " Where did you get that slice of roast pork?' The shows were good as usual, not a fan of 7:30 main show (Million $ quart) as rush for early dinner and off to show, have seen it 2x once being on GA, others had not seen it, excellent and still amazed that Jerry Lee Lewis steals show. Elvis stopped by O's bar, escorted of coarse, even took couple of pictures...Burn the Floor is Hot! and energic... was able to get into Poor House for an 80's show, entertaining rock n roll! Lucky to get seats (at bar) All excursions were personally arranged by OMWC's ... didn't leave ship at San Juan, came in too late , through there was a long line waiting to disembark, Next day was St Kitts, been to Marriott and wanted to try else where and found shipwreck, again with alot of people make it worth while... bathrooms Rough! drinks cheap... see reviews in St Kitts, next was Barbados, originally had a morning cat on Silver Moon, but needed to change since we arrived at noon, Great Trip, delicious dinner/ turtles/ ship wreck snorkel/ sunset! Scrambled to meet our crew at Tappanani.. great time as always, no filet but NY strip was very good and more rice than anyone could eat... St Lucia was spent at Naked Fisherman, crazy amount of stairs down... had DW take her time but well worth trip if you could make it... wonderful beach/ lunch if wanted and drink list that DW said was best she ever had. GA had superbowl party at H20 packed but we had seats, had row of wings/nachos/ stadium food...way too loud but good time. Antigua headed to BeachLimerz. Trip over was thru areas that had not rebuild since storms, and beach road was very potholed, but BeachLimerz was newly reconditioned and nice beach lil journey since parts were washed out... Definitely recommend! STT was shortened as mentioned above... Lovango is another world... beautiful layout/service exceptional/ beautiful setting (mentioned above pricey with a capitol $) but knew it coming in. Negative: taxi driver coming back tried to raise price and then complained no tip! Really Dude! Had 3 sea days back... day one quite windy but found shelter in front of ship/day 2 was best day of all ... calm seas/notta cloud in sky/ day 3 opposite/ cold/cloudy gave way to pouring rain which helped us get to 5:30 dinner early. Room was a club balcony, forgot how tiny balcony on GA was.. didn't stop us from having coffee out there each morning, couldn't see xtra room in cabin but bathroom worth it to us to be able to turn around in shower!
  10. Have been to Marriott 2 previous visits, raise in price was one of reasons to look elsewhere, and look at different parts of Isle... If return to St Kitts is on our next itinerary might look at going back. Might of been different if started at sardine factory know as Carambola and walked down beach for a drink at Shipwreck.
  11. Was on the 6 Feb cruise, will give a few updates/highlites/lowlites.... More to come but have limited time... YES everything you heard bout shortage in staff is true and there were additional newbies that boarded in NYC, the staff was super friendly... just as I remember them on other NCL cruises (am a NCL fan... being tax'd but this is my line!) they are expressing the problems they encounter in shortages... waiter in O'S mentioned that when they say something is not in stock.. get a bad reaction and they also feel bad. This is all over place, feel free to ask questions and will respond tomorrow. OCEAN for first time... special just as I thought it would be, fish of the day TUNA= YUMMY!!! La Bistro up charge for filet migon... got my gander up and ordered porkchops which were recommended and were delicious. Cagney's had dinner with another couple and would not of noticed cuz we were having a good time but others from our group came in after us, bigger party and received entrees and were out before us. Otherwise NY strip delicious and sides are the sides. Chocolate Cake emence Ran our of almost every US can'd beer by last night, Miller Lite/Bud Coors...on and on. Someone came to bar and ordered Bacardi n Coke... no Bacardi... said "On a Caribbean ship you would expect Bacardi!" MAIN BEEF... yes we knew DR beforehand was not on itinerary they threw bone and extended many ports a couple hrs, especially STT and planned accordingly: taking a personally scheduled trip to Lovato... quite pricy but it was a Valentine gift ... no mention, just on itinerary letter put on bed 2 nights before, changed back 2 hrs, if DW had not put it to my attention, forget pier runners.. we woulda been running to airport! VERY Low Blow. Received less than $14 ea for refund for not going to DR port charges refunded... 3 sea days in a row were not my favorite ... Late getting in San Juan, supposed to be 4pm... but due to weather (winds) did not arrive till 6:30p, which was after sundown, and since we were not going to travel around too much after dark (was doing a lil walking and heading to Roof Top Bar to watch sunset... stay'd on boat... did not have dinner scheduled walked around and stumbled on Noodles... got an immediate seat.. Great Luck Great Choice! More to follow
  12. Be careful, we just returned on Saturday and our 'on land' itinerary had us in port at STT until 7pm. Once on board, they changed it back to 5pm. No explanation... but it screwed my time at Lovato... Big Time!
  13. Lovango is a Treasure! pricey but made for a wonderful Valentine's Day. One down side is they do not have a beach, so no ocean swimming.
  14. Returned week ago Sunday from Naked Fisherman... EXCELLANT beach bar. To get to restaurant there are alotta stairs Down and then Back Up! Those w/ mobility issues this is not your place! Beautiful setting in a cove, water gorgeous, never wanted to get out. They do not rent chairs but we somehow persuaded a server to get us 4 loungers w/ umbrellas. Did not need reservations for lunch, they served it on our loungers and drink service!!! Wife had a watermelon drink that she sez was her best drink Ever! There are day beds but the first come makes them inaccessible for cruisers. Bathrooms are first rate! Server was on time throughout... got a lil crowded later in day, but we managed. Thankx Port Royal for suggestion and reedprincess for your help. One of our best days!
  15. We went to Shipwreck with a group of around 15. The bar a bit tatty is an understatement... it did serve it's purpose if you want cheap beer $3 Corona. Someone had fish tacos and liked them. Bathroom was RUFF with a capital ROUGH! No price for lounger, but they have seen better days. Shade is where you make it. Be xtra careful entering water as it is hidden corral and rocks. Safest way in. With sea to your back, go toward right and you'll see man make entrance, almost like steps (pinkish color) you will be able to walk in carefully. Had one twisted ankle and another fell on corral and received black throne like prickies in both hands. Were feeding the monkeys coming out of woods... Did not go to carambola, didn't plan to go and there were no reservations open. Turns out a ship took it over and was tendering passengers to carambola's dock.
  16. We were in Antigua last Monday. (13 Feb) We did not use the $45 PayGo option. Paid $29 for 2 loungers and an umbrella. We were not in the mood to eat, late port arrival. (1pm) cab was 5/person/ea way. the ride over to the beach was not the most scenic, in fact it was kinda depressing. When we got to the water had a 1/4 mi ride on a Very bumpy dirt road. When we arrived BeachLimerz, it is very nice beach bar... looked like it was rebuilt/refurbished after storms. We rated it 8 outta 10. Staff was friendly, drinks were cold, food that passed by looked great... we (8 of us) were laying out on loungers and were hit by a passing storm... inside and hung out waiting for it to stop... great views, (although didn't realize we were around hill from ship. ) Water is a calm Caribbean sea... very slight drop when entering but once you know of it... No Problem, sandy all the out w/ slight waves. Took walkdown beach and there is construction going on... then all way to end, Beach bar (think it was called Miller at Beach or Sea) closed down fenced. Did not rebuild from the storm. Looked like a happening place w/ volley ball and shade huts. THIS IS THE BAR YOU WANT TO GO TO!!!! pet peeve... gladly accepted $US, change in WI $, even when asked for change in US. Paid for next drink in US/WI mixture. Also used extra to pay cab tip after paying for trip in US.

  18. Thankx Lazlo for bringing us along! We leave in 4 daze and appreciate your useful tips/updates.
  19. Laura Anne, there are 5 of us who are going on the Silver Moon on our cruise (6 Feb) but because of port arrival time it's only from 2:45 - 6:45p. afternoon cruise.
  20. reedprincess, hello again. You gave me valuable advise on my previous visits to SL. We will be arriving by cruise on Sunday 12 Feb, and plan on heading to Naked Fisherman.
