  1. Medication should not be stored in in-room fridge which does not get cool enough. You should store it in the medical center .
  2. You can switch without a penalty up until your final payment day. After that there are penalties
  3. So if you didn’t cruise at all you will get a Future cruise credit. They are drawing a distinction between those people who perhaps sailed a few days then tested positive and those who didn’t sail at all. It is a prorated credit. Cruise fares are non-refundable after final payment day therefore the “cancellation fee” refers to the cruise fare you get a full cash refund for port fees for those ports you did not get to and shore excursions you did not take.
  4. The obvious example of used services is if you flew and stayed in a hotel contracted through HAL and Flight Ease then tested positive. Those services were used and therefore not refundable
  5. I met a distraught fellow who thought they charged for the MDR. He was in front of the menu board at the entrance to the MDR whining to his wife that there were no prices. I finally was able to calm him and his wife with my broken French and explained it was free. This was the second week of a 6 week cruise. His TA should have done a better job educating. There are some lousy TAs who take the commissions and run.
  6. There is the new Mariner benefit In appreciation of your loyalty, we’re offering Mariner Society members a new exclusive early booking benefit: onboard credit of up to $400 per stateroom when you book within 90 days of a new season launch* – for 2023 cruises and beyond.
  7. Yeah, she is a single woman, a hard working nurse and we travel well together. She understands the concept of cruising, enjoying the ride together but having the freedom to do what you want in port.
  8. I am not saying you shouldn’t use a wheelchair if you need one. I am quite aware that not everyone’s disability is publicly apparent. I am saying the able bodied should not use them to simply get through the airport more quickly. Heathrow reported this summer they were not able to assist a lot of disabled passengers because of the rampant abuse in the system. The wheelchairs are there to comply with the Air Carrier Access Act which clearly states it is for the disabled, it is not for the inconvenienced
  9. I pay her way. Since I would be sailing solo anyway I invite her and I pay her airfare also. The airfare has always been a bit of an issue as we fly business and mostly they want to issue a flight credit as a refund and I don’t want a credit. The CPP refunds the airfare as well, if booked through HAL. I appreciate your answers, in the end I will have my TA call. I will try to remember to report my answers
  10. You should try the Moroccan oil they sell in the shops downstairs. I was having a friendly chat while testing perfume before dinner and complained about my frizzy hair. She handed me the tester of the oils and told me to try it, I bravely did it right there just before my reservation. I came back after dinner and bought some.
  11. I agree. I was “uninsured” for 30 years and I dealt directly with the medical profession. I paid my way and it was easy. Now if I ever need something that Medicare wouldn’t cover I would simply go to a doctor of my choice. We haven’t entered the dark side yet where private practice is illegal 😉
  12. I think she got an uneducated agent. Since the airline made the change the further change to an unacceptable schedule should be free to make. She ended up doing the right thing by dealing directly with the airline
  13. That is fine and might work for her. Our circumstances are a bit tricky but ultimately I want to get her airfare back if she is forced to cancel for work related reasons which is not covered by regular travel insurance. Do both persons need to purchase or is it by passenger?
  14. How confident are you that if I called each line the phone agent could give me a fairly accurate answer in light of all of the variables? also do either line offer the simple option of a shuttle into town?
  15. Hi Rich, do you know how this would work with HAL’s CPP? I have a sister who might get called away at the last moment. Thank you
  16. I just completed the HAL cruise tour with Denali and the Yukon. They did an absolutely outstanding job. If I go again I would definitely stay at the Holland America or Princess property. I am not sure but they may be open to independent travelers, at least to those who sailed with HAL. If budget is not an issue just do the HAL trip with the train to Denali then after the tour rent the car to tour the coast focusing on the Kenai Peninsula about Denali, be aware that the interior of the park past the 15 mile mark must be toured on a park concession bus. The park is also a wilderness area so except by the visitor center there is not a lot off places to see except from the road side or with a coveted back country pass.
  17. My sister and I have both used the spa for hair. I had mine only cut on a long journey and she had a blow out. We both politely said we didn’t want any product sales at the beginning of the appointment and were not bothered further. We both were pleased with the results.
  18. Exactly, that is why you don’t abuse the wrong system and use the proper system to handle close connections. An ill gotten wheelchair is not going to help. You first try to work with the airline to fix the schedule , if that is not possible you mention your issue to the very first airline agent when you check bags (they will be sure your bags are loaded in a logical order to get them off fast) and continue mentioning it especially and including the flight attendant. They can call ahead, they can be sure you get off of the flight first. They will be sure baggage handling gets your bags forwarded. I have seen this in action plenty of times this summer and it works.
  19. Thank you for your assistance. Is there a way to find out the locations of the docks for any given voyage, assuming navigable conditions.
  20. I usually agree with you but I take exception to this advice. Those services are meant for those who truly need them. There are services for those with tight connections and this is not it. Abuse of a system makes it difficult for those in need and amounts to theft from the needy. This is exactly what has and is happening with service animals.
  21. I know HAL has now contracted services, they introduce themselves as such. It is hard to get American workers, plain and simple. I call very early in morning just as they open and usually get someone within 10 minutes. something is going to have to change but I am not really sure what can happen right now
