I am going on the Harmony in April 2017 and I have booked my dinner reservations. I was able to book drink packages before but now I can't, not sure why though.

The hotels on the north side of the Stirling Rd/I-95 interchange (which includes the Hyatt Place that was the subject of the original post) are technically in the City of Dania Beach, but cross Stirling Rd and those hotels, and Oakwood Plaza and its heavily trafficked shops and restaurants--all perfectly safe even late into the evening-- are in the City of Hollywood.
The admittedly ragged borders of the City of Dania Beach stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to almost all the way to the Seminole Reservation on State Rd 7 where the Hard Rock complex is located. It does appear that some of the responses are from those who when hearing "Dania Beach" only picture the rather downmarket Federal Hwy and Dania Beach Blvd corridors. I agree that the hotels with a N or S Federal Hwy/Dania Beach address should be avoided as the residential area immediately to the north and west of them is not one a tourist should wander into. But the hotel the OP asked about--as well as its many neighbors (I should have said nine in my first response, not seven) next to Oakwood Plaza--have no reason to be warned against staying at, whether their legal address is Hollywood or Dania Beach.
Thank you very much!

Personally speaking, as a three-decades-long South Floridian, I avoid Dania Beach at all cost. I am sure that there are small areas of safety, but the drug culture in that area has not been sufficiently extinguished to meet my level of comfort. Simply my opinion.

Thank you for your opinion. I appreciate it. We are going to stay at the other Hyatt on 17th street. I do believe you know what you are talking about considering you live in Florida. That guy wasn't very nice with his comment. I don't understand people at times.

So glad you took my recommendation and priced it with valuetrips....What ended up being the price difference now between the two Hyatt's ?.
You'll be very glad you opted for this location....enjoy !!
The Hyatt on 17th with Value trips is $99 and the other Hyatt is $187. Thanks again for your advice!

Ok...I just made a reservation for the Hyatt Place on 17th street through Valuetrips. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from them?

How much extra money are we talking about to stay at Hyatt Place near 17th Street ? Have you checked using valuetrips ?
It's about a $200 difference. No, I have not tried Valuetrips, but I will now! Thank you so much!

We are going on out first cruise, so I am not familiar with the Port Everglades area. I have a reservation made at the Hyatt Place in Dania Beach. The Hotel has such great reviews, but some have commented on the surrounding area. Is the Dania Beach area an area we should avoid due to safety? Is it worth the extra money to stay on 17th street? Thanks for any feedback!

Yes my HOTS has two nights free too...only problem it's now "double" the price I paid when I originally booked ;):)
Same thing happened to me with the HOTS I'm booked on! I got all excited, called, then found out the price I received when I 1st booked was better!

Unfortunately, the weather man mentioned a tropical depression down in the Caribbean. It wasn't definite, but it was looking that way. I hope the weather clears up for you and you have a wonderful vacation!

I booked a room at the Hyatt Place on 18th bc a lot of people stayed there the night before a cruise and the price on 17th is twice as much. Is the Hyatt on 17th a lot nicer or are you paying more for convenience? We will have a car so we can get around easier, but I want to make sure it's just as nice? Anyone stay there? The reviews were great so I hope I did the right thing!

Thanks! We will be going on the Harmony of the Seas, so we'll be able to make reservations ahead of time. I thought it was around a year beforehand, but I have heard different things. I'll just keep checking everyday.

Hi! My family and I are going on our first cruise and we are booked to go in April 2017 on the Harmony! We are thinking it might be easier to go in June because we have 3 kids. Anyway, is it that much of a difference weather wise in April compared to June? Does it rain a lot in June in the Caribbean? Did some research, but different websites say different things. I was hoping to get opinions from people who have cruised a lot to the Caribbean during that time. Thanks!

On the Oasis, most of the family ocean views are way up front. Has anyone stayed in these that could give me info on the motion felt? Thanks!

I was considering booking a cruise on the Freedom, but was wondering what the shows are and also because it's an older ship, is it still a good ship to go on? Thanks!
