  1. sounds like our last explorer of the seas sailing, We had 1600 diamonds onboard and they would be standing at the door to the DL an hour before it opened.......Had to go into the adjoining lounge every night....Still managed to have a great cruise.Me thinks that folks just like to drink too much!, but boy it's fun to watch.
  2. the interview was on the news this morning on tampa television station...hope that is valid enough...
  3. dr. "F" announced this morning that in his humble opinion that the vaccine will not be widely available until the end of 2021. Wonder how that will affect cruising????????
  4. sante fe band that worked the palms in vegas are one of the best bands in the country...seeing them on a cruise ship had to be an amazing experience..Jerry and the guys have released several great cd's and sitting on our cruise ship balcony with a cold adult beverage and them playing on the dvd player still makes me want to cruise again in 2021. We wish everyone well and safe cruising next year.
  5. miss the "old" days when we were treated to the drifters, platters, coasters, charo and a host of other good entertainers..Not going to happen anymore, most of the groups we have seen recently were vegas lounge acts type...With the financial problems that the lines face, entertainment will not get any better, but i know alot of great musicians are are going through tough times and might welcome some work in whatever venue.....will stay optimistic and hope to sail next year after the vaccine comes out. stay safe everyone...
  6. we agree on the smaller ships, we have cruises booked on both the connie and brilliance for 2021 and that size ship is our preference. I dont need water slides and a mall to enjoy my cruise...good cabins, good service and food, nice entertainment and a great glass of wine on our balcony and we are happy campers...we wish you well
  7. we like the 2b cabins on deck nine like 9552 and 9052....reasons for liking them: 1.no inside cabins across the hall from you, less noise 2.midway between the two sets of elevators and stairs, less traffic in front of your door all the time 3.11 cabins down the hall from the noisy centrum opening and yes it is noisy in that area until midnight. 4. 194 sq foot oversize cabin with a decent balcony and no obstructed view.. hope this helps. we are from tampa and sail this ship once in awhile.
  8. i have posted my thoughts about the "connie" staying in the fleet for 2021 and i think that her sailing alot out of tampa(a port that will not allow for the larger ships due to the bridge) will keep her in the mix. I dont know if any of the other ships in the celebrity fleet could do the tampa sailings and i do know that these saiings are going to be very popular and money makers for the company..If tampa was not a profitable port for the cruise lines, there would not be 5 companies sailing their smaller ships out of that port....I hope it's enough to keep the "connie" in the fleet for the next year or two...It is a step up from the brilliance, rhapsody, and anything that ncl, carnival, or holland sail out of tampa......wish everyone well and stay safe.........
  9. until the folks in this country follow the plan that new zealand implemented, it's gonna be tough. We are not a disciplined country. I saw thousands of our precious young people down here in florida not bothering to wear masks, or follow social distancing because they dont want to be told what to do ....They are the chosen lot and know everything.....hope they stay healty and dont pass the illness to mom, dad, or grandparents....selfies in icu are not cool at all....wise up, grow up and be adults instead of pampered idiots....boy that felt good to say all this.
  10. it reminds me of the bluegrass country of kentucky....we raced thorougbreds for many years and ocala is the closest thing to ky that we have found. Beautiful farms that the horses love, but no beach. It is what it is. we live in clearwater but have friends in ocala and love visiting there, reminds me of a better time in our lives. wish everyone well.......
  11. go to a website called cruisedeckplans.com and you can see deck plans of the brilliance and some good pics of all of the room categories on all levels......they also tell you about obstructed views....We have sailed on the brilliance several times and our favorite category of cabin is 2A and 2B on deck nine...hope this helps.
  12. spend a few weeks at saratoga race track in july/august 2021..been on my bucket list: gonna bite the bullet spend $250 a night for a cheap motel room and find out if saratoga is better than keeneland and churchill downs....start going back to vegas every year with our comps, and a trip or two to the sibonne hotel in providenciales on the best beach ever......go away virus, we still want to cruise.
  13. B&B saying hello to our fellow cruisers on 5-1-21.. I looked at the deck plan for deck 10 on the brilliance and we were happy for you guys being able to book a GS for our sailing...Hope you guys and the rest of your group on or sailing have a great holiday weekend up there in ohio and elsewhere....stay safe, we wish you well. B&B in clearwater
  14. st. barts,, but i would have to cash in all my worldly possessions to afford a nice place to stay and put great food on the table...Oh well, i still dream of st jean beach, sheer beauty.....
  15. we live in the tampa area and agree with the posters on this thread about the brilliance being a nice ship..We have sailed on her several times and have another one booked for 5-21..The ship is clean but dated, the staff are great, the food is good, the entertainment is not as good as the larger ships in the fleet, but having a nice dance band in the R lounge for happy hour is a nice prep for dinner..We sail this ship because of the close proximity to us and saves us driving across the state to depart from miami or ft lauderdale..We hope that you like the ship, it is a nice departure from the monster "mall" ships that we try to steer clear of....We wish you well and look forward to a vaccine and more cruising.
