  1. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 77 and sunny this AM with a high of 93 with a chance of PM showers. There is a possibility of Tropical Storm Beryl becoming a hurricane in a few days, right now it should track south of Cuba and hit the Yucatán in Mexico, all. I know is I can’t remember a hurricane this early in the season, tropical storm yes, a hurricane no. They say the Atlantic is 6 degrees warmer than normal because we had an El Niño winter. I have no idea what Mud Day is about. A funny quote. I’ll pass on the meal. We are off to breakfast in a few minutes, I’ll have my usual Western Omelette. Have a great day and stay well.
  2. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 79 right now heading up to 92 with a chance of PM showers. I like 2 of the days but not sure about the last one, sounds like a workers of the world unite thing. The quote is good. The meal is something I would probably like. Never been to Norway or anywhere else in Northern Europe. I never watch the debates and won’t watch tonight’s, they are not real debates and besides I have made up my mind and nothing that is said will change my vote. Have a great day and stay well.
  3. We also did the tram ride over the rain forest.
  4. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 76 right now with a high of 88 with the usual afternoon showers. We need the rain but sometimes it’s a bit much as it was cart paths only at our golf course yesterday and we slugged it around, I had a round last August when it was cart paths only and very hot even for Florida, I only made it through 15 holes as I had bout of heat exhaustion. Interesting days. I don’t care for the quote. French onion soup is a favorite of mine. We have been to Puerto Limon in Costa Rica. We decided to book a cruise with MSC on the Seashore out of Port Canaveral on August 4th, that’s not peak hurricane season so we should be OK. It’s an hour longer drive than our favorite Florida port of Port Everglades, I think we will drive over a day early. Congrats to the Florida Panthers for winning their first Stanley Cup. Have a great day and stay well.
  5. Graham, looks like you had a wonderful cruise on a beautiful ship.
  6. We lived in Bonita Springs when Charlie hit and it was suppose to turn inland at us but it kept going north and made its turn towards Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. We live in Port Charlotte now and Ian nailed us in 2022, we were slammed both on the front end the back end. We were without electricity and I went out to my car and charged up my phone on that Thursday and called Celebrity and asked if we could get on the Infinity which was sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale that Saturday, there were still cabins available so we booked. Nothing was open on the southwest coast and we managed to have enough gas to cross Alligator Alley and fill up in Weston. By the end of the cruise electricity and cable TV was up and running when we returned to Port Charlotte. True Story.
  7. Sorry to hear that. I actually cried during Madame Butterfly.
  8. Your best bet is booking cruises that start on a Sunday, at least it would give you Saturday for flying in a day early.
  9. We have lived in Florida for 31 years and you don’t have to start worrying about hurricanes until around late August. As far as the rainy season it starts in early June and ends in early October but you can get rain from hurricanes and hurricane season ends December 1st. The latest hurricane I remember was Wilma that hit in late October of 2005.
  10. We’ve been on 5 MSC cruises and just booked the 6th. The first 4 were on the Divina and we loved that ship, the 5th was on the Seaside, beautiful ship but it seemed like they were going after a younger crowd with ear shattering music with the DJ In the Atrium, our next cruise is on the Seashore on August 4th. Food has always been good, not great. We’ve always had very good service. The entertainment has always been outstanding, we always enjoyed the condensed versions of some very well done Opera presentations. On board prices have always been fair and we didn’t see the gouging that we have seen on other lines. We haven’t sailed with them since 2019 so it will interesting to see if things have changed. We have been cruising since 1982 with 74 cruises so we know most of the cruise lines and for those wondering I would say go ahead and book with MSC.
  11. @rafinmd Have a great birthday and many more to come.
  12. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 75 right with a high of 88 with our normal summer PM showers. Good selection of days but I have no idea what Detroit style pizza is about, IMHO Chicago pizza either thin or thick is the best. I like the quote, I’ll never forget the first time I saw “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World”, I walked out of the theater with a sore stomach from laughing so hard. I’ll give the meal a go. Never sailed through the Suez Canal. Have a great day and stay well.
  13. Every cruise we have sailed since the start of 2023 have been sold out, when we were on the Celebrity Reflection Easter week in 2023, that sailing was 400 over capacity with most of them kids and they were well behaved.
  14. The only Eggplant I will eat is Eggplant Parmigiana and of course in Moussaka.
  15. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 77 this AM with a high of 92 and back to our usual summer afternoon showers. Interesting days. Can’t argue with the quote from Euripides. Another eggplant meal, ugh. I have no idea where the port is. Yes, they’re still playing hockey with what has been an amazing comeback by Edmonton as they were behind 3 games to none in the finals against the Florida Panthers, series is now tied with game 7 Monday night. Have a great day and stay well.
  16. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 73 right now, heading up to 93 with again no rain. Make Music Day sounds like a plan. Good quote from a great man. I’ll pass on the eggplant salad. Did anyone else catch the baseball game from Rickwood Stadium in Birmingham last night that honored the Negro Baseball League and especially Willie Mays who played in that stadium a couple of years, quite a night with some great interviews and memories of those years while not forgetting the injustice that Black ballplayers faced while playing baseball in the Deep South in both the Negro League and in the regular Minor Leagues. Have a great day and stay well.
  17. This is good but I’ve noticed and mentioned before that HAL port charges in the Caribbean are higher for basically the same cruises as Princess and Celebrity.
  18. Saw that too plus they also spray painted some airplanes at an airport, deranged idiots who need to get a job but being locked up would be better.
  19. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 75 this morning with a high of 90 with no rain. 2 of the days are good but I have no idea what the middle one is about. Good quote. I’m in on the meal. Have a great day and stay well.
  20. My mouth is watering especially with the last photo, DW could have made it.
  21. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. It’s 75 and humid this AM with a high of 88 with our usual summer afternoon showers coming up. Good selection of days as is the quote. Being of Greek ancestry I absolutely love Spinach Pie, never had it without feta cheese, DW who is not Greek makes an excellent Spinach Pie. We’ve been to Alaska but not port. Last night we lost one of the greatest and most exciting baseball players of all time, the Say Hey Kid Willie Mays died at age 93, I was lucky enough to see him play a few times in the late 1950s at Wrigley Field in Chicago, was able to get his autograph also and no I don’t have it anymore, I had hundreds of baseball cards, scorecards, many autographs and other baseball collectibles from the 1950s and threw most of them away in my teenage years, had no idea they would eventually be worth some big bucks. Have a great day and stay well.
  22. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 78 this AM with a high of 91 and again no rain. Happy birthday to the mild mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper. I loved watching the Superman series on TV when I was a kid and have to admit I watch a episode once in awhile on one of the streaming channels. Countering hate speech is a very good thing starting with all the antisemitism going on right now. I have never had sushi. As for the quote, I’m not sure if reading makes a person less wicked but I do know I’m a voracious reader and not too wicked. I’d give the meal a try. Have a great day and stay well.
  23. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 78 this AM with a high of 90 with no rain which is a bit unusual. Alligators are bad enough, don’t need a day for crocodiles, they’re 10s meaner than gators. I’m not sure about the quote. I’m not sure about the meal either. Have a great day and stay well.
  24. That’s what I did back in 1984 on Sitmar’s Fairsky.
