  1. Guess not everyone is excited because there are still some of us who have to test before. Going to Canada you have to test and fill out their Arrive Can form. Not really a big deal, just need to get it done. Really looking forward to not having to test for Allure in April next year.
  2. So Carnival sails to Alaska but where is the statement that people still need to test 2 days prior and fill out the Arrive Can form. How many people will be denied boarding because all you people say there is not more testing required. Maybe when you make your statement you need to add that it all depends on where you are going. I am so tired of hearing about no testing when that is not the case. Let's be responsible about what we post.
  3. The thing that really bothers me is all the people stating that testing has been discontinued. If you are stating that hopefully you will not feel bad if someone takes your post as policy and then gets denied boarding because they did not do the required testing. Maybe everyone needs to stop saying what the testing requirements are and let people contact the cruise line to find out. I know I have received two email from Royal concerning the testing requirement for Alaska. Please people, be careful what you are posting.
  4. It is not the cruise line it is where you are going. Don't know if Carnival does Alaska but to get on a ship for an Alaskan cruise you need to test 2 days before sailing. Canada requires this, even if you are not getting off in Victoria, not to mention the cruises starting from Canada. I am sure people will look at all the posts and not think they need the negative test before sailing but they might be sorry. At least we have gotten 2 messages so far that we need to test and fill out the Arrive Can form before boarding. I just wish people who posted would be a little more careful what they are saying.
  5. We loved Symphony also. I think it was the best cruise we have had. And I agree, that first night or two home is tough. For us, we have genies, you could not just call and have them send food to the room. Guess all the fun and food is what keeps us all going back and then getting a little depressed when we get home and have to settle back into our own little routine. Can't wait to board Quantum and take advantage of our genie again and then go home and wonder why there is no food on the table.
  6. Read all the posts. Most think the test before sailing should be cancelled and if it is not you will go to Carnival or NCL. Will you give up your Alaska cruise because Canada still requires the negative test 2 days before sailing, and that will not go away for the rest of this year. There is no way to go to Alaska without the test before. How hard is the test. Yes, for some it costs some money. We go to CVS where we not only get the results within a half hour but they print out a paper copy for us. A swab up the nose, both sides, and you are done. Do I wish they would drop that, H... yes, but the test is a slight inconvience. I hope all you going to other lines have a great time, although I have done Carnival and would not go back again even if I had to take 2 tests before sailing.
  7. Testing requirements are not dictated by the cruise line but by the countries you are visiting. The 2 day, not 3 day, testing before cruise is in effect for anyone going to Canada because Canada requires it. And it will be in effect until the end of the year, because that is Canada requirements. Wish everyone would stop trying to tell everyone what Royal has said. Read the health protocals Royal puts out concerning your ports.
  8. Might be more but a good reason to book with RCI.
  9. One good reason why we book the room we want to begin with. It seems like people are beginning to just book a cheap room and then expect to get a Royal Up to a nicer one. Hope this works out for you.
  10. We have the same problem. After Alaska one point short of Diamond+. Will hit that on Allure in April, but the good part is we will be Star Class so it won't make any difference.
  11. We flew a red eye to Miami in March and got to the pier about 8:30. It was a zoo with the debarkation of the guests leaving. We did, however, talk to 2 Royal people and they pointed us in the direction of where Star Class would be checking in. Once there it was only few minutes before someone came and put tags on our luggage and took everything on board and escorted us to the lounge. So, I guess the moral is you can arrive early but be sure to stay out of the way of the passengers getting off. Some of them are in a hurry and not very careful how they handle their luggage. It was an easy embarkation though. You will be good when ever you arrive.
  12. We have the Royal Loft on Quantum in Sept. and paid around $16K for 6 people. It was a good deal compared to what it cost most of the time.
  13. Then just book the room you would like. Why do you book a lesser room and then expect Royal Up to give you the ultimate room. We just spend the money and book the suite we want.
  14. Never had a problem with the cruise ship but have had 3 suitcases damaged by airlines. So not sure which is worse. In my experience so far the airlines take the cake.
  15. Since we fly coast to coast to get on a ship we do not really get excited until we are on the ship. So many things can happen now-a-days, especially with all the flight cancellations.
  16. Here's hoping they discontinue the pre-cruise testing before Sept. 19. It would be wonderful to not have to worry about that.
  17. What are the Star Class options. We have heard we will be able to do the glacier over the side at no cost. Anyone know?
  18. I guess this is why we research what rooms we want and then book the room, not wait to try to get a Royal Up. Royal Up seems to be the biggest thing going right now. Just book the room you want.
  19. Another person who wants to take a friend somewhere they have not earned the right to go. Get her the coffee and sit somewhere else.
  20. I agree. We will be one point short of D+ when we get off Quantum in September. Unfortunatly, it is at least a 10 hr trip to the LA port is we were inclined to try for a short cruise. We will be on Odyssey when we hit D+ but the good news is it won't matter because we are Star Class sailers. But, darn, only 1 point.
  21. I am also surprised there is not more information being posted of Quantum. It would be nice to hear people talk about it, whether good or bad.
  22. Why does everyone expect someone (in this case RCL) to fund their costs of covid when they get off the ship. You should know the risks when you decide to board a ship, plane, go to the grocery store, etc. and take responsibility for your actions. It would stink to have problems getting home because of covid but why is it always the fault of someone other than yourself. We will be on Quantum in September and know the risks and are willing to take them. If we get covid I guess we deal with that then but it will not be the fault of Royal and we will not expect them to pay for our problems.
  23. Thanks. Every Star Class cruise changes what we ask for or what we do. We have learned to ask for things. Hopefully more people will comment on which genie they had and how things went.
  24. Didn't read all the posts but we can only cruise 2 times a year because we live on the Left Coast. Our airfare can sometimes be almost as much as the cruise so we always cruise in a suite. Now that we will be D+ in two more cruises we might go with a smaller ship and do JR suites or Grand suites and save a little money but when you have to fly you need to factor that in. Really envious of all you who live near a cruise port or within driving distance.
  25. I have see alot of information concerning Ovation in Alaska but hardly anything on Quantum. We will be sailing Sept. 19 and am wondering who the genies are and how they were. Thanks for all your input.
