  1. The best place to get the Bossche Bol would be in the city of Den Bosch😀 Hence the name😁
  2. HAL should just read our posts here on cruise critic. We have all expressed opinions on numerous topics and know what we want! It would save HAL time and money.😁
  3. My daughter is Vegan and we came off the Nieuw Statendam a few weeks ago. Indeed you do have to pre-order which is not ideal as you may decide a day later that you are in the mood for something else. Also it was the same menu each evening so got a bit boring. Our Dining Steward was amazing and would let her see the options from the main menu from the next day as well,as there are occasionally Vegan options on the main menu. Personally, I wish they would offer a few extra vegetarian and vegan options on the main menu each evening. I can imagine the complaints if meat eaters only had one option each evening on the main menu! During the cake away event on the Lido, there were so many beautiful cakes but none Vegan. I mentioned it to the Executive Sous Chef who was standing nearby and he said he did have one vegan chocolate cake and arranged to bring it to the Lido and personally served the first slice to my daughter! It looked so good that others wanted a slice as well! He told me he would make sure that in future there would be a vegan option included each time. In short, it’s not easy to eat vegan, often not varied, but ask and they will help you!
  4. Yes you are correct! Thank you so much for this- it’s amazing! I wasn’t sure if I could ever get this information again but figured if anyone could, it would be a cruise critic member! Thank you so much!
  5. I was hoping you all could help me locate a cruise log for the Prinsendam 26 July 2012 cruise to La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Fowey, etc.we have lost it and are trying to piece together photos for a special album. I figured if anyone could help, it would be a cruise critic member! Any information as to the itinerary would be much appreciated.
  6. We have also sailed many times on the Prinsendam visiting Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Fowey and many other smaller ports. We were also on the last Kiel Canal transit on the Rotterdam VI which was larger than the Prinsendam but could still access smaller ports. If HAL keeps building larger and larger ships, sailing the same itineraries, eventually we will have seen it all. I am already seeing repeat ports to Iceland, Scotland Norway and England -each year the same. Is HAL just focusing on attracting first time cruisers and are forgetting their large Mariner base??
  7. We will just have to agree to disagree. I think they provide an amazing service and I expect with a full ship they were just extremely busy. Perhaps HAL should just omit the option all together to make their lives easier. Being home now, I would just love to have clean laundry delivered folded or on hangers😁
  8. I was on the same cruise and requested my laundry to be folded and it came back on hangers. I just figured it was easier for them and takes less time to put the clothes on hangers than folding each item. The laundry staff work so hard to deliver clean clothes, often within less than 24 hours, that I certainly would not score them low because of clothes not being folded! It took me a only a few minutes to fold and put away my clothes. Time well spent if it eases their work load.
  9. To see working windmills closer to Amsterdam, try the Zaanse Schans! It is about 17 minutes by train from Amsterdam and brings 18 and 19 century Netherlands to life. There are museums as well as the windmills and its a great place to visit. The website is: https://www.dezaanseschans.nl/en/discover/windmills/
