  1. I encourage every post! It's nice having someone right there who can give us the real scoop on river levels and happening. Much appreciated!
  2. Thank you for sharing these updates with us. I know it's early but I'm watching the levels since I'm with a group cruising the Rhine in mid May.
  3. We got off a 15 day Hawaii cruise on the Eclipse two weeks ago. We had a C2 Concierge cabin and found the following negative changes since our last Celebrity cruise in a Concierge cabin, about a year ago....... instead of the bottle of sparkling wine iced in your cabin...you had to request it, no more fruit in the cabin, and the upgraded Celebrity Tote Bag that we used to get in a Concierge cabin was replaced with the cheap tote bag that all the other cabins received. Priority tender is a benefit with Elite status but not with a Concierge cabin. Yes, there is a pillow menu on the activity sheet for the first day....if you happen to catch it. And, the canapés.....disgusting little dollops of something, often indistinguishable, that are served without any utensils or napkins. OTOH, the lunch upon boarding is nice. It gives you access to an uncrowded place in the main dining room, rather than fighting the crowd in the buffet, to relax and dine until your cabin is ready. The room service menu is upgraded, something we like to use on mornings that we are getting ready to get off the ship in port (not offered on disembarkation morning). And, if you are trying to build status points in the Captains Club, a Concierge cabin earns 5 pts per night, 2 pts more than a standard balcony cabin. There are still benefits to a Concierge cabin, but they are more limited than they used to be. Based upon the direction things seem to be going, I would not pay any appreciable premium for these cabins any longer.
  4. We have done 2 TA's on the Reflection and have been able to use Skype without any problem.
  5. How about a glob of what we can best describe as potato salad? Just got off 15 days on the Eclipse and asked the same question of the Concierge Rep. She said that she would have utensils delivered to our cabin with the canapes. The next day we received a couple of forks with the weird plate of canapes. But that was it....I guess they expected us to wash them ourselves and reuse them day after day. Unfortunately, what they are serving is weird and not worth eating anyway. Also, seem to recall a plate of fruit in our Concierge cabin.....not any more. They used to put an upgraded Celebrity bag in each Concierge cabin....not any more, just the cheap blue bag. The food in the MDR and in the buffet just wasn't quite as good as it had been on previous X cruises. Seafood seemed to be particularly sparse in plates such as shrimp scampi or seafood piella. Starting to rethink future cruise plans with the ongoing changes and cutbacks.
  6. I'm sure glad we booked the Transpacific from Sydney in April 2021 on the Solstice instead.
  7. A bus from Schiphol AMS airport to the central train station in Amsterdam( right next to where the river boats park) is about 30 minutes. You can also take a train right from the airport to the central station in about 20 minutes.
  8. The ones on the slant have bigger balconies. Cabin 8277 would not because it's not on the slant, but your cabin 8279 has a bigger balcony. We had one of these larger balcony cabins on the Celebrity Reflection TA from Ft. Lauderdale to Rome this spring and, liked it so much, we picked a similar cabin on a cruise on the Reflection in November.
