  1. When you book directly, you make your deposit payment at that time, and you have access to your account on Carnival.com, and can continue to make payments of any amount and as frequently as you like, up to final payment due date, which is about 80 days from sail date.

Just note, should you also add excursions through Carnival.com, or other "fun shop" items, services, FTTF, etc. those are due and payable at the time of order. They do not get added to your balance due. And should you want to pre-pay gratuities, you will need to call Carnival, and like the other "services" and excursions, those are due and payable at the time of order.

As long as you are outside of the final deposit window, and your fare does not require full payment ( not sure I have ever seen one that does before final payment) then you do not have to pay more than the deposit.

Both correct. To add also. There is no monthly payment. You pay whatever you want until final pay is due. You can also choose not to pay anything until final pay date.

  2. So after this cruise I will no longer be using a TA and want to book thru a pvp or online. When doing that do you need to pay in full up front? With the TA I paid a deposit and then had to pay in fill 3 months before the cruise.

    Thank,

    Larry

You still do the deposit regardless of which you use.

  3. That's a good deal. You may hear noise late when they are cleaning up but should be done by 12am and then you may hear in the morning again when they are setting up. Now they you have a balcony you can always check to see if any other balcony become available in the same or category. You can always transfer if it is available at no cost. You will not be allowed to transfer to a lower category. If you chose to go to a higher category balcony, you will have to pay the additional cost.

Do some search to see if anything opens up that's not under public spaces with the same category. Having said that, if nothing opens up you should still be fine. Enjoy your cruise.

  4. I do suffer from motion sickness--every cruise. I start by taking a Bonine (or generic) the night before we board the ship and every night thereafter, including the night we get home.

Bonine (meclizine) is the same as the less-drowsy version of Dramamine, which knocks me out. That's why I take it at bedtime--I can sleep off any drowsiness.

My doctor recommended it as it doesn't interfere with my meds. I believe most of the med centers on the ship have it, but I don't know how much the charge is. I do know that it's sold in the shop on the Royal ships, but $$. Better to pick up some generic from Target, Walgreens, CVS, etc., to have on hand if it's needed.

Thank you for taking the time for your thorough review and photos! Can't wait to see this ship!

Thank you. I will look into those.

  5. Faster to the fun is usually available at the 80 day mark (final payment period) when a lot of people who had FTTF are not able to finish paying and cancel. I figure you are past that period so you just have to keep checking. I know others are saying it's not worth it and you should save your money. I tell you it's worth it for sure. It's not just for boarding. There are a lot of other benefits to it. Too bad they raised the price so high though. It as $59.95 when I bought it.

  6. Debarked the Glory around 7:10AM, grabbed a cab to the airport and hustled to Gate H17 where I got the last first class seat on a Delta 8am to LaGuardia. I was originally ticketed on an 11AM flight. There was a $50 change fee, which I thought reasonable for getting home 3 hours earlier.

Too bad the weather didn't cooperate. We were almost to LGA when the airport shut down due to icy runways. The pilot said we were being diverted to Atlanta, the "closest legal" airport. About an hour later the plane was refueled and additional snacks/drinks were supplied and we resumed our LGA flight and landed at 3PM. This was still earlier than the 11AM which was delayed from takeoff at Miami and landed later.

Has anyone ever made an earlier flight than 8AM?

I made a 7:59 flight before. :) Joking. That was impressive. You must have been running and shoving everyone out of your way.

Welcome back to reality. Saturday's weather was horrible.

  7. I had been on 5 cruises (mostly Carnival) through 1996 and then took a Royal Caribbean cruise last year. I am going on the Liberty with my daughter and wanted to get some info on FTTF. I will be using a snooze and cruise shuttle service as we fly in the day before. If I add FTTF to my carnival reservation, it shows 12-1pm, but what would happen if I didn't arrive until after 1pm? Would I still get any faster boarding? I specifically like it to be able to get into my room right away to get settled in.

    TIA!!!

They recently started the assigned boarding time so I haven't cruised with it. However, I believe you still get priority boarding regardless of what time you get to the port if you have FTTF. You still have to select a time because they want to have an idea when you will be there in order to block some slots to avoid overcrowding.

  8. Negative sir. I like living within short driving distances to 3 ports.[emoji41]

We will be living in the same state in a few mire years.

Did those emotion sickness pills work? I will be traveling with a party of 6 and half have never cruised before so I am not sure if they will get sea sick. I want to make sure I get them some pills or something. Any recommendation?

  9. We thought this, too. We expected a few technical glitches, but as far as the maintenance, cleanliness and "refreshing" of the ship, we thought they would have plenty of time. In talking with the crew, it seems it was the same crew as before dry dock, but they weren't with the ship through dry dock. They only boarded on Port Canaveral a few hours before the passengers. I think this is poor management on the part of Carnival, but that is JMO. There may be laws preventing sailing just the crew from dry dock? Idk...

The Glory will be out of Dry Dock in March and I will sail her in April. I am hoping to see some good renovation and a clean ship. Maybe the Liberty's maintenance was a rush and this is not the norm. I have seem reviews where people say the ships they were on were sparkling clean after dry dock.

  10. We were not impressed, and a lot of other people felt the same way (or worse) than us. Apparently, there were electronics issues with the ship that were causing problems with the arcade, casino, and tvs. We had to have our sail and sign cards replaced twice. We were so glad we got FTTf because the guest services line was backed up almost to the theater every single time we walked passed. And there was usually only 1 or 2 people working the whole counter. We also heard there were people with no hot water, no cold water, or no water at all. We were glad we didn't fall into that group.

We missed our embark photo because the area wasn't set up (and they had 5 extra hours to do that???). Our room was not ready when we boarded at almost 7pm & the ship had been in port by noon. We didn't leave until almost 11 because muster took over an hour of us standing in the cold. Times were wrong in the fun times, and Carnival just didn't seem to have their stuff together on this cruise. Most people we talked to said this was by far their worst cruise ever & wouldn't be so eager to book Carnival next time.

Carnival claimed the ship would be "refreshed" for us while in dry dock, by it was clear nothing was refreshed on the inside. The ship was dirty, the bathrooms smelled of stale uh...waste, and there was a lot of stuff that just didn't work.

The food was cold, the entertainers were expressionless, and the lines were the longest anybody had ever seen. There was no food to be found after dinner except for pizza (we didn't want pizza every night, and we also didn't want to have to go back to our room to wait on room service...just needed a quick snack after the show).

On the positives: In all, we made the best of it and tried to have fun. We understood the risk of taking a cruise immediately after dry dock (even though we got the switcheroo pulled on us). We were expecting problems, but not quite as many. Guest services did their best to accommodate us, but they usually had a hard time understanding exactly what we needed & offered us the same solution several times in a row. The crew were always working & nice. I think they knew it was bad and tried to make up for in the best way they knew how. We will probably book another Carnival cruise in the future, but if we have 2 experiences in a row like this, we will be looking for another line.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I would have thought the best time to sail a ship is after dry dock. Maybe they had a new set of crew after the dry dock who were just not sure what to do.

  11. First Impressions.....

Overall, the ship's decor is very understated compared to older ships. It definitely follows the Breeze type design scheme. Not to say it is bland as there are great pops of color that really make an impact. Goes to show you can have subtlety while having really great design.

Service: I met our room steward day 1, he was friendly, left robes and a towel animal for us at night.

Dining room staff also nice. We'll be encountering different wait staff due to "my time". Food was served hot and fast. We went for dinner at 6pm so there wasn't much of a line at check in. Check in is on deck 5 at java cafe. They give you a ticket you present to the dining room. However when we walked past that area at around 7:30, there was a HUGE line so I made a note to self- it's either early or late for dinner.

On day 1. Crowds seemed to be dispersed well.

Also I received a notice in our stateroom during turn down. Due to weather, our itinerary will be changed. Basically reversed, so here is our new itinerary:

People with excursions will just be moved to the new days.

    Stay tuned for Day 2.[emoji41]

Are they doing blue robes now?

  12. Ok, I'll add Flick to my list. Thanks for the tip.

I didn't sleep well last night, shocker..lol Getting ready now, will be leaving my home at 10am; we have an 11:30 check in time. Port of Miami is about an hour drive from my house and we will be parking port side. Yes, there are parking lots close by that shuttle to the port, it's about half the price of port parking, but the convenience is worth it for us.

Do you want to trade houses? I'm only about 21 hours drive from the port.

  13. We've been so busy getting ready for Christmas, hosting and attending parties, that I almost forgot we're now doing the Single Digit Happy Dance!! One week from today we'll be flying to Miami, and boarding the Splendor the next morning!! EEEEKKK :D:D:D

    Anyone else dancing with us??

I wish I could forget as well so my time would go faster. I look at the clock everyday.

  14. I have had only one experience with a cd who made the cruise more enjoyable with his interactive presence and activity planning. Sadly I don't remember his name!

We have had several good interactions on board with maitred and asst maitre d getting to know us and making our dinner time more enjoyable.

I do think that the atmosphere is different on cruises where senior management(captain, hotel director etc) are seen around the ship and stop to chat with guests.

We have had this on many cruises and have missed it on others. We can certainly enjoy ourselves without this interaction but it adds to our pleasure when it is available!:p:cool:

    That must me Matt

  15. Why is it so important to know who the CD is? My cruise has never been made better or worse because of who this person was. Most the time I find then to be extremely obnoxious and annoying. Also while were at it, same question about the Matre D. Does it really make that big a difference?

You just mentioned that most of the times you find them extremely obnoxious and annoying so I am pretty sure you would not want those CDs again. You would prefer the ones you did not find obnoxious and annoying. Having said that, the CD doesn't make or break my cruise one bit.
