On the ship, they have a very complicated banking ATM that is stocked with all kinds of money. The owner of the ATM/bank will take deposits in all currency. The money is converted and placed in the employees own bank account, most likely at home. At some point in time, the ATM is maintained, restocked etc or excess money removed. That ATM will have the ability to disburse cash, which is converted from their banks currency to the currency they want, such as USD or EUR etc. This is like a normal bank. They don't carry around thousands in cash until they go home. They deposit it. The staff does not care if you give $2.00 bill. They will smile and say thank you. However, they just take it to the ATM. It is a novelty for the giver, but the receiver, just puts into the ATM. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would actually keep those, and try to spend it in port. It would be too much of a hassle.

Sounds like the issue is simply a misunderstanding on how the program works. -

Scooter Hire Vancouver to Alaska Cruise

Many posters already answered, which is good. But why can't you bring his scooter on the plane? I went to UK and used BA and no issues. I also fly all over the world, with no issues with my wife's scooter, and Lithium batteries. It just needs to be declared before the trip -

Don't ask here, call the airline and ask what they need. Not all airlines are the same. -

Curious....will anyone answer the posters question? -
Is there anyplace in the world where it is expected to tip double? Like if you sit by yourself in a restaurant, don't you tip for yourself? If the table sits 4, do you tip yourself, times 4? I'm just wondering what people do. I only tip for myself. My other question would be do people actually wonder what others make? I don't ask a waitress what she is making so why would I care for the cruise ship, which is not based on USA wages and the tipping is a customary amount on international ships. They make their wages and tips based on the contracts they sign. I look at it as none of my business.

The poster said they booked 3 rooms for family members.....and only one room can't go, not all three. So, they are out $500 for one couple and by "choice" they are out $1000.00 for the other two. NRD means just that. It is a risk you take. It is not the cruise company's fault, and certainly, they should not play favoritism for a person because they used them for 20 years.

It can’t always be sunny

If I relied on the forcast in Florida/Caribbean for rain, I would carry a raincoat, umbrella everyday. -
Tips are per person, and if you prepay, you don't need anything else. I feel blessed I can afford the prepaid tips

Are ships back to 100% capacity?
Joseph2017China replied to gizbug's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Ships sail based on number of people who purchased the cruise. Biggest market outside of the USA is Europe and with restrictions on place many people from the second largest market, did not or were restricted to fly. Once all the restrictions were lifted, people are now traveling. They have been selling unrestricted cabins for a very long time, and having restricted capacity is long forgotten. You are sailing a holiday week. The ship will be over 100%. Enjoy being normal. -

So, What Is The Final Word...

The paper is becoming a thing of the past. Yes, they do print them, and you can get them at the desk, but it is becoming a thing of the past. Like all items that end up wasted, all the paper printed and tossed, it is being reduced. Same with plastic straws, plastic water etc. It is not just the cruise line. My opinion is I always liked the paper and I wish we got coupons for the drink packages because it always get messed up when you have a drink package also. But it will not happen. One part of me supports it, and another part dislikes it. On a sea day, I really don't want my phone or need it, but a paper is nice. -
I live in Florida. I pick all international ships (that I fly to Asia or Europe) based on the itinerary and not the ship. Sometimes I'm not even looking at the ship. I feel most of the ships are similar and the trip is port intensive, all I care is if some evening entertainment, food, and a bed. However, when I leave from Florida, I want the ship. Don't care for the islands. Yes, I get off, but I just don't find it exciting. Yes, I want Coco Cay. Nassua, I go to Pirate Republic Bar and Brewery. Other places I walk around, maybe get some street food etc.

Tipping in Australian Waters
Joseph2017China replied to wynkys's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Interesting conversation. So, I tip per the customary amounts only. The cruise line industry has a customary way of tipping, and I just let it go at that. I don't question a tip on a drink for 18% on a ship, and when I'm on land, in any country, I tip according to customs, and if it is customary not to tip, than I don't. I don't bring personal beliefs into the formula. I don't hand out extra tips. I don't do it at home either. No way is right or wrong. I prefer a certain way, but it does not bother me. Folks on the ship, are not paid based on local areas, they are paid by the cruise line contract. So, like I said early, don't be pressured into tipping more - just because you base it on your own country, and the way things work. -
I got mine renewed, and honestly, I have no idea how long it took but felt like sharing

Tipping in Australian Waters
Joseph2017China replied to wynkys's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Honestly, I never had any other experience but the same as everyone around me.....you may believe it or not, but tipping more than 18-20% is not normal except on Cruise Critic. -
Tipping in Australian Waters
Joseph2017China replied to wynkys's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Remember they already got 18%, so definitely no need to tip extra. That is customary in the USA, and certainly not customary everyplace else. Also, tipping extra does not get you faster or better service, but it does make the person happy (who wouldn't be happy with getting a 40% tips). So don't be pressured into tipping more -
So, a fancy name for Grape juice? So my understanding is that grape juice, is pretty much limited to a few companies, but you can remove alcohol from wine, it really is only grape juice, but now you have a big variety of grape juice?

Can you bring food from port back onto ship?
Joseph2017China replied to klfhngr's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have no experience bringing food on board a ship that is loaded with food to give me when I cross over. I can't imagine a taco being that good, that you would not eat it while it was hot and fresh. But generally speaking, food is not permitted on or off the ships, for health reasons. -
A Unusual Question about Tipping

If this situation would happen to me.......which is extremely unlikely, I would decide at that extra day or two what to do, and not worry about it for the rest of my life
