GeorgiaPeach51, do they still have premium water available, like Evian and Pellegrino? My wife "lives" on that when we're cruising, and we're on the Edge in a few weeks for the first time. Love your comments. Thanks.

Someone from my 2/14/20 Silhoutte sailing just spoke to Celebrity. Supposedly (and hopefully) they are going through some type of "technical maintenance" and no sailings are being cancelled (other than any previously announced). Sounds like an IT issue. Fingers and sea legs crossed that these sailings are not going to be changed!

I'm a little skeptical and expect something probably will be happening. But, Celebrity just told me that it is sold out. It is right after the drydock and a vacation week. I told them how this is exactly what they did to me with the 1/24 sailing, first telling me it was sold out and then a few days later notifying us of the cancellation but the reps on the phone obviously don't know. They also said that the sailing before us is not showing up because it is almost completely sold out. I guess I'm glad I haven't booked flights yet. I can take solice in the fact that I'm pretty sure our December cruise in 2019 on the Edge will not be cancelled. We'll have to wait and see about 2/14/20. Good luck to all of us.

I'm calling about this right now. We were on the 1/24/20 that was cancelled due to the extended drydock, and picked 2/14 as the replacement cruise. If they cancel the 2/14, I'll be very upset!! I'll post if I find out anything.

We've sailed the Summit 3 times in 1139 and did not find the films/music to be an issue. If the balcony sliders were closed, we really didn't notice it. If open and/or you were sitting on the balcony, you could hear the film/music clearly, but it was not blasting or too loud for us. Hope that helps.

We've been on the Summit 3 times so far, each time in 1139 all the way aft. We've loved it. We're going again in December, but this time we'll be in 9090. One thing to consider is the noise that people say can come from the pool deck above. We don't think it will bother us, but if you're a very light sleeper, you may want to consider that. Smooth sailing whatever you choose.

That's disheartening about the Silhouette. We're booked for the first cruise out of dry dock at the end of January 2020 (to celebrate my 60th b'day). It's a long way off, but we got a great deal including Go Best. I'm hoping that they'll have it down by then since many other ships will be Edgecized before that.

We have been on the Summit in the past two Julys (2017 and 2018) to Bermuda, and both times the ship was pretty booked. Also, we have never had any problems with the Summit. Could there be a tear in the carpet, a little rust on the balcony, etc., sure. Would that ever ruin my vacation, or cause me to criticize Celebrity, absolutely NOT. I agree that the prices out of Bayonne on the Summit are steeper than the Caribbean cruises, but for us, the savings in flights/hotels even them out. That said, we are booked on the Summit in early December for a S. Caribbean cruise because the price, with Go Best, was amazing. Smooth sailing everyone.

I brought this on the Summit in July, but it did not fit into the socket. Anyone have better luck on an S-class ship?

Just got back from the Summit/Bermuda (2nd year in a row, and both in Aqua with Blu). It's a personal choice. However, MOST people do not wear a suit (there are plenty of men in a suit/tux on formal nights, but the vast majority are not). I have worn khakis with a nice patterned button down shirt (mostly short sleeve), but do add a blue blazer on formal nights (but even then it's 50/50 of men with a jacket, and even less with ties - I bring one just in case we get invited to a captain's dinner - although the 1 time we did, only half of us wore ties). It's truly a personal choice. The only thing I noticed at Blu on this past cruise was a man was coming in on formal night with a nice cowboy hat, and he was not allowed to wear it in dinner. Don't worry about your wardrobe, and start figuring out which of the martinis you are going to order each night at the Martini Bar. Smooth sailing.

Aqua Class has Blu, basically your own private specialty restaurant at no "extra" cost (besides the extra cost of Aqua Class), plus you get to use the Persian Gardens (various spa rooms - relaxation, sauna, "rain", etc.). The bathrooms in Aqua are supposed to be better - better shower head.
The other difference is the location of the cabins. I think Concierge are generally considered better location, but that is a personal choice. Aqua are often under the pool deck and/or Ocean View Cafe. Some people say you can hear noises from above early in the AM when the staff are moving pool chairs into place, or in the cafe.

We have always had the premium beverage package, and have been in blu or specialty restaurants for 4 out of our 5 cruises so far. I rely on the sommelier to suggest the best wine in our package, and have 98% of the time been very pleased. We take a picture of the bottles that we like (we've found that if we both have the premium package, and order in blu or a specialty, the sommelier will leave the bottle for us, versus the MDR where they have typically only served us by the glass) and I look for them at home. I have seen the wines at home for sale in the $10 to $30 range. We too typically buy wines at an average price of around $10 (depending on where we buy them) for our "everyday" consumption at home (no, we don't drink everyday, but we have it available if the mood strikes). On our first cruise, we had one classic and one premium package, and got the best available for each package (and I usually let my wife have the "better" wine, or at least the one she liked more). You could try that, and always upgrade during the cruise if the premium package is offering things more to your tastes. Enjoy.
-
Or just upgrade to go best and get all 4 perks, plus the upgrade to the premium beverage package - it the price makes sense!
-
It spells it out pretty well as to what is available in each package here ...
we usually go with the premium package and never have to worry about it. In addition to premium alcohol, you get premium bottled waters and a better wine choice. Enjoy whatever you choose.
-
You may want to consider upgrading to Go Best, especially if you will use the drink package. You get the Premium drink package for 2, prepaid tips for 2, $300 OBC for the cabin, and unlimited wifi for 2 (2 devices at a time).

Aye. 14 day over 7 anytime. But, I vote that you do BOTH!! I've only sailed with Celebrity and have heard mixed things about NCL, but if you go on NCL, Haven seems like the way to go. Wishing you smooth sailing whatever you decide.

We are fairly new to cruising and have only cruised Celebrity. We're in our 50's and still working, so my philosophy is that a sh@#$y day of cruising still beats a great day of work. We're not big complainers, and luckily have not had anything to really complain about with Celebrity or our cruises so far. We don't sweat the little things, and just enjoy the overall experience. Glad to see that there are others out there that just love the experience, and can live with some imperfections like us. Smooth sailing to all.
-
If you upgrade to Go Best, you get unlimited internet included. If you have internet, you can use Facebook or an app like WeChat to text. If you don't want to purchase the internet, I'd suggest looking into purchasing some of those walkie talkies (haven't used them since all our kids got cell phones, and not sure if you can use them on the ship, but that could work).

We had a nice snorkeling trip to Honeymoon Bay on a catamaran years ago. Not sure if they still do that one.
-
If you booked with a TA, sometimes they can do a little something extra for you. If not, you can always ask Celebrity directly. They will NOT reduce the price of your overall cruise, but they might give you some extra OBC to keep you happy. But, as others have said, just be happy with what you bought (you obviously were excited about it when you bought it), and wishing you smooth sailing.

We've stayed in 1139 twice (and have it booked again for a July Bermuda cruise coming up). We haven't had any issue with noise, and like being right at the stair to go down to the Sunset Bar.
-
On the Silhouette, there's also a trundle pull out bed under the sofa in certain balcony rooms. We've stayed with 4 people (2 adults and 2 20-something "kids") twice like that. 1 slept on the sofa and one on the trundle. It was fine.

Concerning noise on Deck 9 - we heard some noise, mainly music until about 11:PM. Also occasionally furniture moves which could have been from balconies on adjoining cabins rather than the pool area. I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me but my wife said she heard noise although it was muted.
Thank you. Doesn't sound too bad. You were also closer to the elevator and the suite (maybe they were partying in the suite).
HELP - Need a "supervisor" or "higher up" contact with NCL to try to get credit from a prior cruise we cancelled due to covid
in Norwegian Cruise Line

Friends cancelled a cruise a while back and the NCL person did not tell them they could ask to "try" to get their $$ back, OR get cruise credit. They thought if they didn't get the $$ back, they'd get the credit instead. The 1st phone call was recorded. The 2nd call, when the wife called back to clarify they'd want the credit instead, was NOT. NCL has refused to give them any credit back (and this was a 2 week Panama Canal Cruise and very expensive). Any suggestions on what they can do next, or a "better" person to contact at NCL would be appreciated. Thank you!
