  1. Thanks BWIVince. I know Regent, Silversea do similar and I'll look closely. We have future flight credit from flights we've cancelled so that's another option.
  2. This is quite concerning. We have a Crystal European river cruise in April and I was considering booking my air through Crystal to keep it easy. Now I have real 2nd thoughts.
  3. Do Cruise Lines have insurance that covers these unexpected shut downs like this ?? (or do they even have policies that exist? )
  4. Gerry, hope your flight back to Zurich is on schedule and uneventful. What a whirlwind this has been for so many. We too were originally on the Splendor from San Diego to Miami but took Regent's generous "bump" offer and now on the Mariner from Vancouver to LA in September. Who know's how things will be by then ? I'm so sorry for so many of you that have been affected with the cancellation and wishing EVERYONE safe returns back home. Stay healthy. P.S. Gerry...I sure hope someday we're able to meet in person, not just through emails !! Marcie
  5. We bought at $28. per share, today it's at $19.50...ugh. Hope they survive and don't go bankrupt.
  6. I think our disappointment came when we received the confirmation letter that we would be visiting the ship for a few hours, proceeded to buy Amtrak tickets from Orange County to San Diego, made lunch plans with passengers on board , then 24 hours later we received the letter cancelling our visit. It is what it is but I would feel like it's a slap in the face if they allowed TA's on board for a few hours.. Are TA's less likely to have been exposed to coronavirus? ....I don't think so. At this point, I just hope that the cruise it's self is a GO for all who are booked and and it's a fabulous cruise.
  7. Same notice we received Dave as we too were scheduled and already had our confirmation to visit the Splendor on March 14th in San Diego. Obviously, we were very disappointed. We were originally booked on this sailing but took a generous "bump" offer from Regent to change to a different sailing. I'm still unclear why humans visiting the ship for 4 hours are more at risk than humans boarding the ship for 2+ weeks? I would have had no problem showing our passports to see where we've been the past few months or taking our temperatures etc. for precaution. I just hope for everyone booked for the sailing (as we once were) that there's not a last minute cancellation of the entire cruise.
  8. We received a guest day pass and bought train tickets to come to San Diego to visit friends and see the ship on March 14th embarkation day. Yippee, I received the confirmation letter yesterday. Then today I got the following disappointing letter so I doubt there's going to be non-passenger TA's on board on March 14th. : Dear Travel Partner and Valued Guests, Recently we sent a Visitor Request approval for your upcoming cruise. In an abundance of caution due to the current situation with Coronavirus, the decision has been made to stop all scheduled and pending ship visits for the foreseeable future. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience of canceling this ship visit. Please note, the visitor confirmation letter you previously received is no longer valid and will not be honored at the pier. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we manage through this evolving situation. 9. shuguley, I have no idea ?? We were booked in an F1 on Splendor. We got the offer from our TA with a choice of 4 or 5 (as I remember) other cruises.
  10. We accepted a generous "bump" offer from Regent to change from the oversold Splendor cruise San Diego to Miami March 14th. We switched to a Mariner 12 day cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles. I can't find a roll call for this Mariner Sept. 23, 2020 voyage. Anyone else on this cruise ? Anyone else take the "bump" offer to give up your cabin on Splendor's San Diego to Miami and choose one of the other cruises Regent offered as a replacement ?
  11. Do they still have Texas Hold'em tournaments as well as Black Jack tournaments?
  12. Although I'm not a regular poster on this forum ; I'm looking forward to meeting those of you who will be cruising with us on January 4th Silver Cloud. My DH Tom and I have cruised with RachelG and George and others before ...and looking forward to meeting jpalbny, Stumblefoot, briar14 and others on this cruise. This will be our 2nd time to South Georgia and Antarctica (previously on the Silver Explorer). RachelG and I use the same TA. Please stop and introduce yourselves. I'm 5'2", short curly blonde hair enjoying a Cosmo before dinner, red wine with dinner and always a Sambuca after dinner. My DH Tom was born and raised in NYC and in his spare time may be in the gym. (you'll never see me there). It won't be long now ! We leave from LAX on Jan 1st (connect in Houston) and at the Mandarin Oriental for 2 nights. Happy 2020 to All.
  13. We too are on the January 4th Silver Cloud cruise. See ya'll soon !
  14. Bob, I just found this blog and read it all in one sitting. I LOVE your wittiness style and I've never seen photos as gorgeous as yours. I'm sure happy I found this. Thank you for making my day extra special.
  15. We have done it before on a change-over day, we ate at the pool grill. It was several years ago so perhaps things have changed? My TA took care of it all and it went without any glitches. I hope it works out well for you too.
